570 Tasting Notes
Making tea its very hard when you are drunk and Stepopster doesnot come with spellcheck. THank you. Wait, there it is, I can fix things now. I wanted to put liquor in tea but tea is hard so I made a k-cup! Which is also hard because buttons and levers and things. But! I put in the cup thing and pushed the middle button and I got earl grey and then I put 2 of whipped cream vodka in and it was tasty. No hate for Twinings. Standard but good. Even at DEATH HOT from the Kuerig.
Preparation
The reviews on this one were split, so I wasn’t sure how it was going to go down, but I really liked it! Pu’erh is one of my favourite tea bases because of that earthy dark quality to it, and this was delicious with the fruit bits in. I don’t know if I’d go out of my way to restock it because we don’t generally like the Della Terra teas, and overall it’s a similar flavour profile to many other blends with berries and dried fruit. Long Life Oolong from Davids comes to mind. BUT as long as this bag lasts it will be well enjoyed!
Preparation
Had a nice big hot cup of this for breakfast. I got a lot of pineapple from the dry leaf but when it brewed up it was a nice big cup of ginger and licorice. Much closer to a chai or the flavours I associated with Tibetan herbal blends or ayurvedics. There’s still a bit of juicy sweetness from the pineapple, but it’s got that spicy burn at the back of it.
It’s the kind of tea that makes me want to keep drinking it, because I feel like every cup is going to be a little different.
Flavors: Licorice
Preparation
Take a deep whiff of the bar as soon as you open it, and it’s just a gorgeous wash of Earl and bergamot. First bite is all sweet dark chocolate, but the aftertaste is entirely Earl. Very tasty, but so dark that I can’t eat more than a square at a time.
Flavors: Chocolate
Have you tried any of the other chocolate flavours? I bought all 4 online and have only tried the Matcha Matsu one, which I found was not very good. I’ve got high hopes for the other three though, especially the milk chocolate coco chai rooibos one.
Hallelujah I have become a believer! This tea was a tart mess on the tongue when brewed up hot, but cold with a swirl of agave this tastes like nothing so much as candy. Delicious raspberry candy. I don’t drink iced tea ever, and I’ve had two glasses of this in the last hour.
Hot – I stick by my 65.
Cold – a clear 90.
Flavors: Berries, Vanilla
Preparation
Apparently this tea is so good it BROKE STEEPSTER. My wife and I have both been trying to update it since yesterday afternoon.
Anyway, this was my bedtime tea last night. I don’t reach for hibiscus teas often but we got ALL the RiverTeas yesterday so I wanted to try them all. And I don’t usually sweeten my teas, but that was my downfall. It really needed some agave or sugar to cut the tartness of the hibiscus. It was sad that it was so distracting because the rest of the tea was delicious – a big mouthful of strawberries and sunshine. It will make an amazing iced tea in the summer.
Preparation
Mmmm I have been excited for this one since we ordered it.
The dry leaf smells tingly, not quite floral but . . . plant-y. Like a post-apocalyptic world where people are learning to farm again. Or Buckley’s. I don’t think I’ve ever had a tea quite like it. It tastes like an herbal, like a nice calm herbal, but the caffeine content is ridiculously high.
Pu’erhs tend to have a dark dark taste to them, but that is almost non-existent here. If I hadn’t know it was supposed to be a primarily pu’erh blend I wouldn’t have guessed it. The taste is complex, and I can’t wait to have another cup – but I can’t quite decide if I love it or am only meh about it.
Flavors: Fir, Flowers, Pine
Preparation
I am on an unending quest for a cherry tea that does not taste like Herbal Essences.
There is a little bit of floral rose in this tea still, but this is the darkest cherry blend I have ever drunk. It’s lovely. The chocolate isn’t very prominent but it keeps it from veering off into floral country. I am totally in love with RiverTeas’ black base. I am totally in love with RiverTea.
