From DAVIDsTEA

A magical scent

Made from premium green tea, our Silk Dragon is a limited-edition treasure. To create it, night-blooming jasmine is gathered in the morning and kept cool all day. In the evening, when the flowers burst open and release their scent, they are placed with the tea until midnight. This is repeated with fresh flowers over the course of five nights, infusing the tea with a most magical flavour.

Wow. This is exactly what I was looking for in a green tea. Lots of nice green flavour without being bitter. I even oversteeped this due to the afternoon nap battle with my 2 year old and it was still great. Nice light colour and wonderful flavour. When I bought it yesterday I was looking for a fairly plain green tea and I have found it for sure.

ooooh, I hope the second steep holds up to! :)

second steep was great. I left the tsac in while drinking and it still wasn’t bitter. I can’t say enough good things about this tea.

Some people say that this tea isn’t premium enough, well it doesn’t exactly come with luxury price tag either. I am not very educated when it comes to Jasmine teas but I like this one and I couldn’t possibly compare it to generic store brand. Also, I love the slight bitterness in it in fact (but I never use boiling water for greens so maybe we’re talking about different levels of bitterness). It resteeps well, Jasmine notes complement the tea used very well, I think it’s a great combination.

This is only the second jasmine tea I’ve ever tasted, and I’m beginning to realize I don’t think I like them very much. The confusion between the floral scent and the green tea taste is too much for my brain, it does not understand. This tea smells strongly of jasmine in the bag, and a little less strong after steeping. The taste is all green tea, and a mediocre one at that. This tea isn’t calling out to me to try again, and will probably be passed on to someone else. It can be steeped again, and tastes similar on the second and third steeping, which is interesting for a green tea.

Meh. For the price and the hype I expected a far more impressive jasmine than what I tasted. The smell is quite nice, it’s that borderline sugar cookie smell that jasmine perfumes sometimes get (which I like), but the taste was bland. So, basically, not the worst jasmine tea I’ve ever tasted, but nowhere near the best. The search continues.

An affordable, good but not overly memorable jasmine green tea. Scented with jasmine, you won’t see any flowers here. Recommendable.

A fairly light tasting jasmine green tea,

David’sTea claims this is “premium”. Well, it’s not. I’ll be honest, this tastes very much like a typical grocery store jasmine tea found in China, infact i’ve had many that tasted just about the same, just a whole lot cheaper than $7/50g. It doesn’t mean this is a bad tea, I had run out of China jasmine green tea, so i figure heck why not, lets see if this is anything special. It’s fairly decent as a jasmine tea, but we’ll leave it at that.

Don’t use boiling water on this one, the bitterness comes out, otherwise it’s still a very enjoyable tea to drink. It’s floral, its light, it’s what its supposed to be.

We had a lilac tree in our backyard when I was growing up, and for about a week each year the entire house and yard would smell exactly like this tea. It was actually a little off-putting at first, but the taste of the jasmine is much more muted than that incredible smell. Otherwise, a very mellow, light green tea base. This is a tea that would be refreshing in the morning and relaxing in the evening. Perfect for sitting out in the garden with.

A nice jasmine green. The jasmine scent and flavor are very strong (a good thing!). It doesn’t have much of a bitter note like other jasmines can have, and it has a very pleasant sweet aftertaste. It’s also nice and light. The jasmine doesn’t overtake the green tea and the tea doesn’t hide the jasmine.

Well…..where to start..

I purchased this tea because I am new to this whole tea scene and I have heard good feedback from consumers of DAVIDsTEA…

Frankly, I don’t care for it. The Jasmine is way too strong. I tried drinking it plain and it’s awful. I added some honey and it helped a little but not enough for me to even want to really finish the cup (I will because I don’t like to waste).

It seems to me like I am drinking a liquid candle.

Silk Dragon Jasmine was the ninth tea in the 2013 DavidsTea advent calendar, and I thought it was a good jasmine tea, but it had a really strong jasmine flavor compared to some other more subtle jasmine greens that I’ve tasted.

I did several infusions of this and all had the same strong jasmine notes, though I did enjoy the sweeter second and third infusions more than the first. Basically this is just your average jasmine — nothing special about it, and there are probably better jasmines than this one.
