8 tasting notes

Had a cup this morning and couldn’t really taste the chocolate but after resteeping just now it’s hitting me pretty strongly. I added a splash of whole milk and honey as usual and I’ve gotta say I’m really satisfied with this chai.

Had to make a stop at a Barnes and Nobles after work yesterday evening and ended up buying a cup of this sweetened with honey. Made for a pleasant reading experience.

On my first cup I made the mistake of using only one teabag and steeping for only 5 minutes and the result was terrible. For some reason that artificial chocolatey taste was super noticeable in that brew. However I did give it another go tonight and this time used 2 bags and steeped for double the time and it came out much much better. Still by no means a favorite but enjoyable enough to not make me regret buying the tin.

Cinnamon is strong with this one which is fine by me. Just what I was looking for on this chilly evening in January. Added a splash of milk and sweetened with honey.

I’m on the first steep and it really is a lovely black tea that I can immediately recognize as high quality. Watching the rosette bloom was a lovely little perk as well. Luckily this was on clearance though because honestly I’d never pay full price.

Received a sample of this with my recent online order and decided to give it a go tonight. The smell is very cool-aid esque. I’m loving the aftertaste though. The tea itself is pleasant enough but I’m not sure I’d buy this again. Perhaps if I get another sample I’ll try it cold as others have suggested. Sweetened with Teavana’s German Rock Sugar.

Edit: Tried another sample cold and was not impressed. Second steeping was just as underwhelming. Actually going to lower my rating after this second impression.

This blend is very hit or miss for me. When it’s good, its spicy complexity reaches a balance of perfection but when it’s bad, it can come across overwhelmingly peppery and even on occasion weak. It’s definitely been a finicky brew for me.

EDIT: I think I’ve finally figured the steeping for this and now it’s my go to tea when I need a little motivation to get stuff done. No less than 6 minutes.

Might be a little biased since this was my first introduction to loose leaf tea but of the few other teas I’ve brewed this still remains my absolute favorite. The scent of jasmine is like something out of a dream. I love having a big mug full of this right before bed. Hopefully I have the means by which to stock up soon since Teavana has already announced that it will be discontinued shortly. Sweeten with: raw clover honey.

I’ve been drinking bagged tea for as long as I can remember but I’m fairly new to loose leaf. Thought I’d give this tea logging business a go.
