Hojicha is becoming my favorite tea to drink when I first wake up. I think all the woody smells, and the rich, dark taste are what do it. At the same time, I’m super ready to sip down on this one and try some other varieties. Too bad I have so much!

Eventually I will learn that I hate almonds in tea.

Picked up some of this a few months back from a friend. My SO brewed some this morning. He over did it a bit – very bitter in the mouth – but a sweetness in the after taste. I loved it by the end.

Only one cup in, and it’s helping with the drips. Oh, the joys of cold teas!

I picked this and Cold Zing up tonight in the hopes of tagging down this cold. Such a strong scent of eucalyptus! I was afraid this would taste very medicinal, but it tastes very light and citrusy instead. I second the fact that it puts the sensation of Vicks on your tongue and throat, but I suspect that’s what makes it so effective – similar ingredients.

This will be replacing Super Ginger as my night-time cold tea: finally, effects I need in a flavor I like!

Flavors: Citrus, Eucalyptus, Lemon Zest, Menthol

Second steeped for 12m. Either I went too long the first time (didn’t time it) or this doesn’t second steep.

Feel better soon. I’ll throw a cold and flu blend since I’m sending you a swap tomorrow.

This tea was fine, but not super special. I enjoy a good cinnamon brew, and certainly wouldn’t turn a cup of this down, but have others I prefer. I didn’t have as many issues with the added sweetener as other Steepsters (though I am getting tired of DT’s added sugar overload in new teas). It definitely has a cookie taste to it – I like it as a soy latte.

You know, I was expecting this to be overdone. I was thinking this would have so much ginger, that I would not be able to stand it, and that it would be added to the pile of teas to send out in a sampler box.

I walked into the store and it smelled like candy. Not a single spicy note reached my nose, just sweet and lovely pear, overwhelming and scent the tea leaves may have had.

The ginger did come out in the end, in the form of a subtle after-kick. The pear wasn’t as strong in flavor as it was in scent – it was absolutely there, but the white tea underneath wasn’t overpowered by it. I found the tea quite refreshing; for me, this is the best TotM that DT has released since Chocolate Macaroon in May.

If you miss DAVIDsTEA’s “Coffee Cake” from last winter, this is basically the same tea!

This is pretty good in terms of dessert tea. The “burnt sugar” aspect of the creme brulee is strong in the after taste; if you’re planning on doing a tasting event, you’re going to want a palate cleanser for this one (and you might want it in general).

I drank this as a bubble tea – it was surprisingly good iced, for a caramel based tea. Over all, probably better hot.

My first adventures in tea were unpleasant. After years of frowning at burnt/oversteeped teas, a chocolate tea my mother picked up in San Francisco changed everything.

Now I mostly drink Japanese greens and oolongs, while also trying to sip down a stash of flavored blends.
