Another of the teabags my husband picked up in UK recently…if it’s this particular one alright! It says “golden and well rounded” on the pouch of the teabags, and it doesn’t seem to fit the “classic” EB.
On average, I like EB in the morning, as the assam blends used normally are bold and strong (but still complex and enjoyable), ideal to start the (working) day…but here, only the dry teabag smells anything like “well rounded” and there’s nothing “golden” about it, if you ask me. As a matter of fact, it turns (too) bitter even when the recommended steeping time of 2-3 minutes has been respected. The only posible reason/cure for this I can think of, is it’s use with milk…which doesn’t apply for me, as I never take milk with my tea. A shame, as I remember the classic EB from Twinings (and loose leaf) to be quite okay.

drank The Earl Grey by Twinings

My husband returned to UK recently for work and picked up some teabags for me… as I’m currently at my parents’ I took them with me to have a cuppa in the morning.
Twinings has indeed a very fine reputation (I read Martin’s review from a few years ago and I must admit he made a great observation) but as far as the teabags go, they might smell nicely dry, once steeped the tea goes way down in appreciation! Black tea base is quite ordinary and I think the bergamot flavouring doesn’t really come out in taste. Because the flavouring doesn’t seem artificial, my rating of the tea is still above 50.

drank Jasmine Green Tea by Twinings

Very nice green tea with Jasmine flavors.
Medium-dark for a green tea, and not very “vegetal” tasting like some green teas. Jasmine is light and noticeable but not overpowering.
Generally I drink black teas about 5:1 to green teas, but I like this one.

Preparation

I am not a jasmine fan, but I was gifted this tea and it’s ok for me. Mild enough jasmine that I don’t feel like I’m drinking flowers.

To me, sharp, yes lemon and Ginger, but I don’t like the combination. I like ginger beer, and lemonade. But for this tea, not a good combination.

Never had it before, it’s not bad. It is pepperminty, no caffeine, and smooth.

Working on sipping through this- I prefer Twining’s Buttermint so will be keeping that on-hand instead.

Mastress Alita

You can still get Buttermint? It disappeared out of all the stores around here a few years ago, much to my sadness.

amandastory516

Twining’s renamed it Peppermint and Creamy Vanilla, but it’s the same as Buttermint.

stayed home today, as I need to time and rehearse my defense and take Teca (our cat) to the vet
sister in law brewed this for me, which was nice; the brew is cozy, cake-y and a crowd pleaser — definitely will go into my wishlist rotation!

Teabag from a TTB! This tastes a bit empty. Along with that is quite plainish black tea. I may not have even bothered finishing the cup, it was a few days ago.

my final steep, and what a lucky one! Somehow, I had exactly 4g left, and that’s exactly the quantity of tea I typically use for the last clean tea bottle I have

Been having terrible sleep (nightmares, back pain, not a lot of hours of sleep as well), so a kick of caffeine is also necessary

Overall, it was nice to have this tea, and I’ll definitely repurchase (just not right now, have a lot of tea to go through)

I am sorry your sleep is deserved! Good sleep is so necessary. It is from your Covid? I think I had some vivid dreams when I had it.

Sofia Vaz

that makes sense! the “leftover” symptoms are messing me up, so the nightmares might be from that as well :)

back at work, hopefully it will go better than yesterday
(does anyone else have colleagues that not only do not work but prevent you from working? I have three, and when they get together it’s hell on earth)

I had missed this! it’s probably the second to last steep I can get out of the tin, but considering how much tea I make every time, I’d say this was a win

will I re-order? probably, but not for some time - I’d really like to get down to only having a couple of teas waiting to be used up, except for teas bought in lieu of special occasions and gifts. Alas, that will take me some time; we shall see

(also, I should update my cupboard on here so it matches my spreadsheet)

(might be hatching a fever as well, need to take today easy)

used a different thermos to bring tea to work today
turns out the thermos is too good! tried to take a sip and the tea came out as hot as it was when I brewed it :)
the tea came out bitter and kind of dull, however, I might just be tasting that due to the fact that most of my tongue is burned

sipping on this while looking over the practical part of my thesis; have to keep in mind that I have to push through this (awful, horrendous) bit to go on vacation with a clean conscience; then I’ll defend it and apply for a PhD (meaning I’ll have to go through this again)

brought this to work, it’s always nice to drink tea throughout the morning :)

today is shaping up to be a good day!
one of my coworkers gifted me (and everyone else) two Lindt mini eggs, and Dua Lipa just released her new album! also going to have a nice lunch with my colleagues, including one that left us to work in the industry!

I had a bit of a panic tuesday with work, but after taking a deep breath I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s actually manageable! this should prove, more than anything, that I DEFINITELY need a week away from my thesis

Just found Dua Lipa a few days ago, as her Houdini song is played every single day twice during my shift in local radio.

had a terrible night of sleep (yay nightmares!) so this is a necessity

the next couple of weeks are going to be HARD (I want to send my thesis to my supervisor before going off to Paris), so don’t be surprised if I spam my notes with black tea !

Preparation

Hard black tea is a requirement for writing and thesis deadlines!

Martin Bednář

Wishing you all the luck to send thesis on time and have fun in Paris :) Lots of tea shops there, but psst, I haven’t said anything, right?!

ashmanra

How exciting! Oh, the tea shops you can visit!!!

Sofia Vaz

thank you everyone for the encouraging words!

I hope to get some tea when I go, even as a souvenir — tea’s light, so I can get a lot without messing up my luggage weight limit!

but for now, rewrites!
