Hello from Japan. I have barely tea up in my room but this was free and I felt like doing a review since I haven’t done one in awhile. This is decent hot but I feel like it would benefit more as a cold brew. At first the berries hit hard but the slug off behind the hibiscus like pretty much all other brews containing hibiscus. The elderberries add a nice touch that I feel helps to mellow and round out the rest of the berries. A brew to try when it’s available but I don’t think I will go back to. It is almost too sweet.
a very chaotic past week, and a chaotic week again; however, good news - I’m officially in! Not only that, but I was lucky enough to teach (officially)!!! I already taught my first class!!!
knocking back this tea while preparing to have a meeting with the Port of Sines, as we’re discussing other exciting things
I took K S’ advice to heart, and made sure the water was colder on this steep; indubitably the right call!
Preparation
made this as a pick-me-up at work, as yesterday I went to a concert and went home pretty late (it was after midnight! I go to bed at 11 at most!!)
sadly, I think the water was too hot, as this is slightly more bitter than what I typically go for :(
This was a favorite of K S who was a wonderful Steepsterite. He made it at 195F to cut the bitterness according to his notes. So I think you are spot on as to why you didn’t enjoy it. Maybe try a lower temp steep and see if it helps.
back at work, but a nasty bug is making its rounds; it started with my (new!!) advisor, who we’re calling patient zero; it also got to my other (new!!) advisor, and now to me
but it could also be from my bf, which, in that case, i’d say he owes me flowers
so, here’s me, at 7PM, drinking earl grey to try to stay awake until dinner (and maybe an episode of Lost)
Preparation
the weather may be really nice outside, but my colleagues made the lab feel like the arctic, so… earl grey to warm up!
(I literally have chicken skin right now, but I also forgot to bring a jacket :D )
Preparation
although letting this tea cool down for 45min helps, letting it steep for 2min is entirely too much for me; although a much nicer black tea base than what I first tasted (half of a box ago?), it still lacks the citrus-bergamot-fresh thing
