This knocked me right the frak out last night. I think next time I’ll skip the Vata addition, because it added a spicy note that was a little disconcerting when my primary objective was sweet sweet unconsciousness.

My first cuppa after a long hot summer, this was perfect. Rich and chocolately without being chalky or powdery. Yummmmm. Only note: needs a longer steep time.

God, this was just gorgeous. Such a flavourful straight black tea, it’s amazing that it doesn’t have anything added. I was savouring each mouthful (brewed a small pot, Western style), but I would definitely make this for an everyday cuppa as well. Very mellow and with a hint of natural sweetness.

drank Raspberry Pu'erh by The Green Teahouse

Snagged a sample of this from Tina S. ages ago and finally dug it out of our sample boxes. Definitely more of a green than a pu’erh; in fact, very little ‘tea’ flavour at all, even for a mellow green. None of the usual earthiness of a pu’erh. As for the raspberry, it was more of a generic fruitiness, but almost sickly sweet. Left a feeling in my mouth like I was drinking perfume. Sorry, darling Tina, love you but do not love this tea.

I haven’t had a cuppa in so long, this was a wonderful one to break my tealess streak. Popped into David’s for the new spring line and saw this on the shelf so decided to give it a taste despite the hibiscus. I was well-rewarded!

The green-white blend is a very light and mellow, relaxing base for the sweet fruitiness of the hibiscus, which doesn’t succumb to tartness. There is a kind of peachy flavour to the tea from the hibiscus, and the jasmine sneaks in on an aftertaste, which is the only down note, a bit too perfumed. Still, it’s a beautiful tea, and I only wish it was more affordable!

Mmmm. Tea. I have become a believer.

I like oolongs and greens, and dark smoky flavours. And Earl Greys. All the Earl Greys. I have bent my nerd powers to learning as much as I can about tea and tea culture. I have started to ramble about tea.

Tea. Mmmm.
