2701 Tasting Notes
I’m not detecting any banana in this. It is pleasantly nutty though. The nuttiness goes well with the rooibos. It’s quite a pleasant blend, just not exactly as described. It’s a shame I only have the one bag of this because I would definitely drink this regularly.
Thanks to tea-sipper for this one! Despite ambivalent reviews, I was still curious to finally try it. I wasn’t a big fan at first. It’s rather astringent and plain. It has kind of a strange flavor seeping through that I can’t identify. The spices are mild. Maybe a bit of clove. Certainly nothing I would identify as baklava. With milk and sugar, it tastes decent. Like many other lightly flavored black teas. The more I drink of it, the more it’s growing on me. The spices somehow seem to show up more now. It’s not a great tea, but it’s enjoyable enough to finish the quantity I have. I really wish it tasted more like its name – that would be unique and tasty.
Okay the whole time I’ve had this tea, I thought it said cocobanana, so I was expecting banana and coconut. You can imagine my surprise when I opened it and was smacked in the face with a strong grapefruit scent. Not at all disappointed, just very surprised. The flavor is almost entirely sour grapefruit. Or maybe it’s other fruits since everyone else seems to be getting different fruit notes from it. It wasn’t the best hot, but cold it’s pretty nice. Definitely needed sugar to balance out the sourness, but I’m enjoying the fruitiness a lot. The flavor is strong and refreshing. Don’t purchase this unless you like sour teas.
I always thought this was a banana tea too, and banana is my demon food. I’m not a huge fan of grapefruit either, but at least can tolerate it depending on the mix… I might have to try a sample sometime knowing banana is off the table.
I don’t like grapefruit either, but I don’t mind grapefruit flavored things. In this blend, I think it might just be hibiscus that my brain is interpreting as grapefruit.
My first time having this tea, even though I drank a huge mug, I must say that it didn’t leave much of an impression. The main flavor was a light, tangy, artificial red fruit. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was a bit disappointing. I didn’t get chocolate cake at all. The resteep tasted similar to the first steep, meaning not that flavorful.
The second time I tried it, I went for a longer, cooler steep, and I made sure lots of cocoa husks were in there. This time, it did taste like chocolate, along with a tangy cherry flavor. It tastes best with sugar and milk. It’s not a tea I’d reach for often, but it has a unique thing going on that makes me glad to have tried it.
Thanks for the swap, tea-sipper! It was difficult to choose what to try first! This one tasted pretty light with a little bit of creaminess. Sadly, I’m missing any spices, but it’s a light, creamy tea that I’m happy I have enough of for a second cup. The resteep may have been even creamier than the first steep. The only reason I’m a little disappointed is that I was promised eggnog. With a different title, I would be perfectly pleased with this tea. The cream flavor is very light, but it’s nice.
This one needs sugar to bring out the flavors. I seem to end up with different flavor notes every time I make a cup, so it’s been difficult for me to craft a review. I usually drink it cold, and it’s sweet and refreshing with a pleasant red fruits flavor. I totally do get a hint of pomegranate, which is pretty nice. It’s like fruit juice – I’m always a fan of B&B strawberry teas! I will say that I’m drinking it right beside Jelly + Ice Cream, and well…I’d prefer the other tea any day. But I’m having a decent time! It’s a better than average fruit tea.
At first, I didn’t think I liked this tea. It has a strong flavor that I thought was bitterness, but it’s really just that deep tasty tang from the raisin. The second steep tasted exactly like the first. It didn’t need milk. It was so bready. What a great tea – definitely one of the best from the mystery bag!
The flavor is so much lighter than I expected. For my first cup, I didn’t put any sugar in. The flavor was reminiscent of gingerbread cookies, but in an extremely subtle way. It didn’t get bitter at all, which I appreciated since I was drinking it slowly throughout the day. The second time I made it, I did use some sugar, but this time, the only flavor I sensed was the rather smoky green tea base. The spices didn’t appear at all, sadly. I don’t love the base tea, and the spices are almost invisible even though there were plenty in my cup, so I’m a bit disappointed.
Well…this one tastes and smells a bit off even though I just bought it. It’s still drinkable, just a bit off-putting. The fruit flavor is okay, but the main flavor is an artificial cream that isn’t great. I sense a bit of the fizziness they were going for, so I guess it’s somewhat accurate, just not completely pleasant. Yeah there’s something weird about the flavoring they used here. I added rose hips to my next steep to try to tone down the weirdness, but the strange flavor is too powerful! Yeah it’s going to be difficult to get through my whole 2 oz of this one.
Thank you! I was hesitating about trying this tea, now I’m glad I didn’t. I was really hoping it had a cream soda flavor.
