while swamped in a stash of samples and purchases, i feel terribly indecisive about what to try. all but lost on an island of tea.. i am pleasantly marooned!

since it is early morning, i am very thirsty and craving a full-bodied black that i can add milk & sugar to, for extra decadence. but somehow, this one keeps calling my name.
the aroma alone is a rich, spongy, cake-y blueberry muffin! blue blue blue. i am getting blueberries all around!

WOW, what an aroma! and i’m a blueberry enthusiast. i love blueberry-flavored things: from muffins to pies to tea! real or artificial. sometimes i’ll put an entire pint of blueberries into a smoothie. they are very high in antioxidants, by the way.

i also like blueberry-flavored coffee from Dunkin Donuts, and that ‘blueberry muffin’ flavor reminds me somewhat of the smell of this tea: scrumptious, comforting and straight up delicious. when brewing, i’ll try to behave & sip this straight (at first) but may add some brown sugar & perhaps a spot of milk for a blueberry muffin creme experience.

the verdict: i am sad to report that the flavor was very weak. it was but a trace of the compelling aroma which seemed to promise so much. i felt like i was drinking faintly-flavored water. i am truly left wanting more…BUT i wholeheartedly loved the smell & think a heaping dose of this tea (much more than the 1/2 tsp recommended amount) steeped in less water will yield a much better, fuller taste.

since this was a sample, i’d actually like to order an ounce or 2 of this to see if my experiment holds up. i am determined to get my blueberry fix, one way or another! but for what it’s worth, i’m very happy i got to try my first purple tea which i’d never even heard of before!….it is rare, unique & apparently high in antioxidants as per the Butiki website: http://www.butikiteas.com/Exploring%20Kenya.html

love tea in every form- from bagged to loose leaf..commercial to niche. i am intrigued by it all & want to learn as much as i can through my 5 senses (tho with tea i’ll presumably be using 3)..am a very sensorial person. love music, perfume, poetry, graphic design, India, Malaysia, Moorish architecture, oh….and tea!

apparently i’m really out of the loop here since i appear to be among the only ones who have not yet tried Golden Moon, Butiki, 52teas, Mandala, Teavivre or Della Terra. i mean REALLY. i need to start lifting this rock up over my head y’all. from the looks of things, i’ve been reenacting Groundhog’s Day every hour on the hour with my uniformed choices. i seek to be anointed!

also, don’t take my numbers too literally; they can’t possibly speak to the actual quality of the tea, much less to the constancy of my own perceptions! what i may feel to be an 88 one day, could very well be a 91 the next, or even 100, depending on my taste buds, blood sugar levels, neuronal firings or planetary alignment ;)
