Office Tea Bag pick
So I’m not someone who doesn’t like stevia in drinks or tea necessarily but this one is a nope. The turmeric and other spices make this cup have a dusty quality to it and flavorwise it’s just pure stevia with a bit of dusty spices. There actually is a nice honey note in the tea though that I like and it would be a nice tea if they hadn’t added stevia. Added some nondairy milk and it’s definitely better but the stevia still is just so strong Boo…

The past 6 months have been quite infuriating. I am someone who needs sleep, not unlike many others I presume, yet in recent times this blessed sanctuary of cognitive rest has alluded me. I moved sluggishly throughout the day, objects in front of me disguised by the fog of fatigue. Days blended together and nights were dreaded. This lack of sleep forced me to contemplate all my past mistakes, embarrassments, and traumas during the same hours drunkards dragged their feet to their wives and vampires hunted for their prey. I was sick of it. I tried every remedy there was. From rigorous nighttime exercise to jacking off before bed. All in vain. I came across this tea and had no hopes. It’s easier that way, the lower your hopes the lighter the fall. I sat in the same couch, in the same room, with the same book in my lap. Slowly I sipped. Suddenly, a warmth spread about me. Not the typical sense of the word, a different kind of warmth. A warmth not of the body but of the soul. I lay in bed that night. My eyelids slowly being pulled down as if the angel of the Death herself had her fingers on them, gently encouraging my sleep. I lay in bed for what felt like eternity eager to open my eyes and see the light of a new day. Instead what I awoke to was my bedside clock. It was 10:02 pm. I had my eyes closed for a minute. This tea is bullshit I still couldn’t sleep. I ended up just buying melatonin. 5mg does the trick. 4/10

TANGERINE TEA!?!? Do you mean orange juice? that was my initial reaction to seeing this on the shelf. I must admit I was hesitant to spend my precious 69 cents on this tea, yet curiosity prevailed. Luckily I’m no cat, I’m a grown man regardless of whatever my father says. He doesn’t approve of my new found addiction to rating teas. In fact, there are few things I do that he does approve of. Maybe if you count me silently sitting in the living room. He still thinks I’m a kid. Typical. Im 6’2" 176 lbs and have facial hair but he still sees me as the kid that peed on mickey mouse at Disney World on my eighth birthday. I WASN’T SCARED OF THE MOUSE DAD. I JUST DRANK A LOT OF WATER. he’s always bugging me to get my life together, maybe I don’t want to go to pharmacy school. Maybe I hate studying biochemical engineer. Maybe school isn’t for me dad! Ever consider that!? Ali dropped out of high school and Reza didn’t go to college and they’re doing fine. You’re forcing me to live out your dream dad. Maybe I have different dreams. Maybe I dream of color, love, and life. I dream to be known, to be cherished, and loved. SOMETHING YOU NEVER HAD AND YOU’RE TAKING IT OUT ON ME! anyways the tea did in fact taste like watered-down hot orange juice. not bad. 7/10

Put yourself in my shoes. You’re at target, gallivanting around in their home-like atmosphere. It is true what they say. When you’re at Target, you’re family. Now you stumble upon the tea and lo and behold look what catches your eye. A tea simply called " Women’s Energy". As a child, I had always been curious as to what it felt like to be a woman. Easy access to boobs. Supposedly more pleasurable orgasms. Being able to shop at urban outfitters without feeling judged. So you must not blame me for grabbing a box and being so excited I sprinting past the cashier and right out the door. I Drank the tea so fast I must’ve burned the entire track of my esophagus. I drank the entire box in a day. Hoping for the next to be the best day of my life. Boy have I never been more wrong in my life. Perverts started hitting on me at the gym. I was catcalled taking out the trash. Blood. everywhere. Needless to say, I will never be indulging in that tea again. And my pity goes out to all who do. 6/10

Imagine watching “Uncut Gems” written and directed by the Safdie brothers featuring Adam Sandler’s incredible performance as an incessant sports gambler. Now think about how you feel after watching Adam Sandler unremittingly withstand the most devastating blows of his life, scene after scene. For me it was incredible anxiety, the most I’ve felt during any movie I’ve ever watched in my life. Now imagine the opposite of that feeling. That is the feeling you get when you drink this honey lavender tea. Very relaxing, the only thing more relaxing would be going into a sensory deprivation but substituting the salt water for honey lavender. Not only is “Uncut Gems” an 8/10 but so is this delightful treat by yogi tea.

It’s a winter night, frost is nipping at the window. Your toes are curled against the warmth of the hearth. Smores? hell yeah. You watch your mom place the milk next to the chimney in preparation for Santa’s visit. She kisses your forehead as she walks by. This is what yogi peppermint tea tastes like. Love. Innocence. Child-like excitement. My life will never be the same after this tea. Everything is now dull and boring. This tea is my only light. May God bring vengeance to the man who dares take it away from me.

First of three tea bags I have received from Izzy

I am not a fan of licorice. And this is Egyptian one. That’s quite weird calling it Egyptian, it evokes some blend.

Kindness is the light of life says the quote on the tag.

I steeped for recommended 7 minutes; and after 20 minutes I was able to take first sip. That’s so sweeeeet. Let’s find out what is Egyptian Licorice. Google sent me directly to Yogi website. That makes sense actually. What, this is a blend of herbs? Oh man…

Nope. I notice only the sweetness. I will try to finish it. But what I will do with the rest? Probably dump. Because licorice isn’t for me.

Flavors: Licorice, Sweet

White Antlers

See *Nik*’s tasting note-licorice is The Devil. Yuck.

Izzy

I have to confess, I sent you 3 of these teabags because I hate liquorice too! I’m still trying to gift away the rest of the box…

Martin Bednář

I have to admit Izzy,I have hoped for something similar to Higher Living. Not a fan, but not that bad.

Mastress Alita

Ha, and I love licorice so much I bought a sample of B&B’s licorice tea recently. (I like all the polarizing flavors, apparently…)

Martin Bednář

Mastress Alita: I would put the remaining two tea bags in a envelope and send them your way :D

Boy, I can definitely use some stress relief today… This is a pleasant drink if you like lavender. I do – it’s clean and bright while still being relaxing. I don’t taste much honey, though it is detectable. If you don’t like lavender, I expect you might find this tisane reminiscent of some kind of cleaning product (that’s how I feel about lemon tea, which has a similar brightness) although the impression might be alleviated by adding a sweetener.

Like most tisanes, I don’t know if it’s actually possible to oversteep this. Possibly if you find the strong lavender flavour offensive, a lighter taste would feel better-balanced.

drank DeTox by Yogi Tea
266 tasting notes

In light of all the over indulging I participated in during the month of December, on New Years Day, I pulled out the random very old packet of DeTox tea that had been hanging out lonely in my “medicinal” tea box. Given how I felt after staying up most of NYE and having several cocktails, I don’t think I can give this a fair review but I will say it was “meh”. However, that was my opinion of most everything on Jan 1. I wasn’t wowed by it but at least I had a cup of tea to snuggle with on the couch.

The US version have different ingredients, so a new entry for same tea from… I think same company, but different branches.

Quote on tag: An unforgettable impression — kind and compassionate — that is love. translated from German; from Google Translate — to be honest with you, dear reader of this tasting note. I tried to translate it myself, but as it is quite simple sentence, I think it is right. I haven’t knew the words.

This tea bag I have received again from postcrossing, somewhere in the spring, but it’s foil wrapped. It won’t be bad in my opinion.

The aroma is mostly chamomile, which isn’t really surprising. But I kind of need it today; I just feel somehow tense this afternoon-evening. Then some generic herbals, maybe the peppermint? I guess so.

In taste the chamomile is overpowered with cardamon though. With an ally as lemonbalm and peppermint. Bit of sage is there in aftertaste.

It’s nice evening blend which is not based on chamomile in taste, which is something I highly appreciate. If it makes me drowsy, we will see.

Licorice in this one, too? I don’t think I have ever had a Yogi blend that didn’t…and in nasty, overbearing proportions.

@gmathis Yupppp. I should know better by now. Hahaha.

drank Stomach Ease by Yogi Tea

This tea is heavy on the licorice and fennel flavors. Very smooth, with almost a numbing-like effect on the tongue (at least for me). If you enjoy licorice and are looking for a tea to soothe an upset stomach, this tea is perfect. It has become my go-to when I need to settle my stomach; this is one of the few teas I have found that actually works.

I am pretty sure I have wrote a tasting note of this tea I got from derk. But whatever…

“This life is a gift” a quote from tag.

But this tea, athough it is a gift, is… meh. I have to agree with derk; it’s pretty same as other yogi teas. But I think I noticed honey. And cinnamon with cloves. Pretty smooth taste, but boring. Pretty sweet as well.

Not great, not terrible. Maybe I have expected more.

Steeped with just boiling water for 9+ minutes. (Tried at 6 minutes before but not enough taste, bag recommends 7 minutes.) Served in enamel tin mug.

Notes of ginger and lemongrass on the nose. I’m not getting much lemon to be honest, perhaps this is just my palate. In retrospect with this comment, it may be better off with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice as one might add to a good black tea.

Unfortunately the thing that sticks to me with this tea is a syrupy sweet mouthfeel that lingers on the tongue. I have a poor sense of smell but this coating shines through that fact to re-coat my cheeks with each sip. Perhaps the ginger? But it doesn’t have any of the pleasant qualities that a good ginger chew might, which leads me down the path of feeling that this is a wellness tea instead of a pleasant herbal infusion.

That ginger though, I do enjoy. Far from the initial bite of a prominent herbal tea like tumeric, the ginger when steeped at 5 minutes creeps in.
Albeit at the finish of each sip, and after the drinker acknowledges the described coating, then in a flash it fades back.

These redeeming qualities of ginger within the tea raise the rating and add to the aroma/flavor but I can’t help leaving this on the shelf if there are other options as the tongue feel just gets ruined by the odd notes that pass over the tongue, and in not getting much lemon at all.

A quick aside from the commercial description; Yogi mentions “tart lemon” and “refreshing peppermint” right in their description alongside Ginger. Where are those flavors? It’s more like someone dropped a hard candy in hot water and threw some ginger on top. At least it’s relatively inexpensive.

My secret? Add a half shot of Brandy for a faux hot toddy.

Final bag in this box, not sure when I will buy more. This cup was a purely transactional experience for the caffeine.

It has been a while! Forgot about these bags but brewed one up for a morning pick me up. A little sweet but totally bearable. Good change of pace.

Here for a caffeine hit and sweet taste only. Dragging this Monday after being down and out all weekend. I do feel vastly better than before though. :)

Michelle

Glad you’re feeling better, this one just has too much stevia for me. Not a balanced cup.

Cameron B.

I was feeling much the same this morning, caffeine and sugar please ha ha.

Barsomn

Michelle I agree, this box has lived in my office for over a year because I usually drink for flavor and this doesn’t sit well with me any longer.

Barsomn

Still, it does pack a punch of energy!

Wow this is sweeter than I remember. Stevia is the polarizing one, monk fruit is also in there.
Yeah, it’s a bit like aspartame to me. At least it’s derived from plants.

For all this tea’s herbal ingredients it really does have the body of a sweet tangerine, with less acidity. I even ate a tangerine while drinking this tea, you know, for the effect.

I’m leveling my rating on this one after getting more into loose leaf and discovering what a world of flavor can come from respecting the leaves and really focusing your energy on the process with a gaiwan. Of course, that takes time and skill.

This is mass produced and a good coffee alternative due to the caffeine content, but I have shied away from that in tea recently. I would rather savor the experience.
I’m also riding the caffeine high from this tea now, and it’s nice.

Good to have on hand if I’m in a hotel without the ability to drink better tea and would like a morning pick me up. Just not something I would get excited about sharing with guests.
