Preparation
Backlogging from a few nights ago. I tried to make this extra strong, but it didn’t work out for some reason. I added a splash of milk and it made it sort of bland… the milk kills the chocolate flavor instead of making it better. So I was basically stuck drinking milky black tea with a hint of mint. Not as good as it sounds.
It wasn’t the tea’s fault, however, it was my bad preparation. Should have used more leaf.
Preparation
I think I’m going to like this one. I brewed it with a little more leaf than I thought I needed, plus I gave it a long-ish steep time, hoping to bring out the chocolate flavor. While it is present in the finish, it’s not as strong as I’d like. I agree with what others have said about the mint being stronger. And the black tea itself is pretty mellow. I don’t see it getting bitter anytime soon. I’m going with seven minutes next time to see what happens.
Preparation
What a delightful tea! It has evoked such wonderful memories about my grandmother – who had the most beautiful lilac bush in her back yard. I miss her so much.
I don’t recall having tasted a “lilac” tea before, but I am sure I probably have! The flavor is wonderful. Lightly floral, sweet, not sharp, and tranquil. Serenity at its finest!
I really like this!
Preparation
This was my next experiment in making all my teas iced. It’s already basically summer here in Atlanta, so drinking hot tea feels absurd to me. But then again, I was raised on old fashioned sweet tea. The kind you get in a styrofoam cup with lemon floating on top of the ice.
Anyway, like the caramel tea, this tea’s main almond flavor is muted by the temperature. But that’s a good thing. This could get weird, for lack of a better word, if the almond taste was stronger. This really reminds me of amaretto when it’s cold, more so than when I tried it hot.
Preparation
This is my first almond tea. The liquor smells like amaretto, but without the alcohol. Just the sweet nutty scent. As far as the actual flavor goes, the almond isn’t very strong. It almost tastes like an unflavored black tea. Not to say this is a bad thing, but I was expecting something a little different. It’s wonderfully smooth, with hardly any astringency. There is no bitterness at all.
This will go quickly around here, I think. It really is delicious. Just sort of plain. Would be dangerously good with honey.
Preparation
This is really REALLY good. I love the floral touches in the flavor of this tea – it really enhances the wine taste.
The flavor is very light, but extraordinarily pleasant. One of my favorite wine-infused teas.
Preparation
This is so good. The coconut flavor is so sweet and creamy. One of the very best coconut flavored teas I’ve encountered thus far.
Preparation
This is a pretty tasty offering. It has a nice, rich black tea that pairs nicely with the flavor profile. It is rich with little bitterness or astringency. The flavor profile kind of strattles the line between actually tasting like toffee vs caramel. I love toffee so if this had a rich definitely toffee flavor, it would be a 100! That said, I will still consider giving this a rotation in my tea cabinet esp if I placed an order with Element Teas.
Preparation
This is absolutely yummy! I think it has to be my favorite fruit tea! I love it!
It tastes like fruit nectar! Sweet, juicy, yummy!!! Definitely going on my shopping list!
LOVE IT!
Preparation
Looking at the ingredients in this tea it sounds identicle to SpecialTeas’ Cold Bamboo Passion. And since SpecialTeas does sell its tesa wholesale it makes me slightly suspicious…..
It probably is a SpecialTeas blend. I wouldn’t be surprised at all. I wonder what will happen after 2/1/10……
SpecialTeas will be closing their wholesale business, though Auggy just confirmed that they’ll still make retail sales http://steepster.com/wombatgirl/posts/53651
The aroma of the dry leaf is delicious! It smells like apple pie!
It tastes really good. Very much like apple pie. Sweet apples, raisins… I can even taste a buttery crust like flavor in this. Very nice. All it needs is a scoop of ice cream!
Preparation
Yum!
This is a fairly “neutral” chai – it isn’t strongly spiced, but it isn’t too mild either. The Black tea base manages to hold its own and no one flavor is overpowering the rest. It’s good, not the best chai I’ve tasted, but good.
Preparation
This is just the ticket for this evening – I wanted something lightly sweet with a hint of spiciness, but just a hint… I wasn’t looking for an in your face kind of taste, and this tea delivered that.
The ginger is gentle, and the honey is sweet but not overly so. The green tea has a soft quality to it, it is light and fresh tasting with a very light mouthfeel and very little grassy/vegetative quality to it.
A very good tea!
Preparation
I’ve had one of those weeks where by the end of it I feel like a crazy person so this afternoon I am sure there will be a bunch of weird reviews and attempts. I figured…WHY NOT start with this one!!!
This smells like Raisins, Carrots, and candy.
It’s a bright reddish purple in color. I was so afraid thinking Hibiscus BUT-But-BUT…there is NO Hibiscus! It’s Beet Root I must be seeing!!!!
So…the first sip was a little odd BUT I ended of going…“OH…this isn’t bad”…As I sipped on it I seem to enjoy it more and more! Which surprised me!
I can taste Carrots and Pineapple, then I can taste sugar or a candied-fruit likeness. Then Lemon…and many some raisin. The after taste is a Lemon-Apple type hint. Nothing is overpowering and everything is playing nice it seems!
As it cools the carrot, lemon, pineapple, papaya, and candy-like hints pop thru a bit more.
Honestly…this is most unusual but I am enjoying this much more that I ever thought I would! I am rather shocked about it.
If one thing pops thru a little bit more than the other ingredients it just might be the carrot but like I said before…nothing is overpowering, really.
Interesting, Odd, FUN, tasty, HEALTHY.
SIPDOWN!!!!!!
I can smell the crust-ness something I don’t remember from before!
The raisin and hazelnut pairing is delightful on the nose! I can taste the apple and raisin fairly equally. The nutty-flavors come and go but are very nice!
Upping my rating – better than I remember it!!!
I’m having some digestion issues today so I am going to be drinking A LOT of Rooibos as they are supposed to help with that. This is a green Rooibos with other interesting ingredients! It DOES smell like Apple Pie…I will give it that!
I can taste the Green Rooibos and honeybush the hazelnut comes thru a little bit better than the apple and raisins but I can still pick out both.
This is a nice, creative blend…pretty good! I would love a more PIE-likeness – you know – crusty – but this is pretty good regardless!
Thanks for the suggestion…I guess I knew that but forget about it because I am not a huge ginger fan in teas! LOL – desperate at this point tho! LOL
Honeybush is even better than rooibos for the tummy, because it tends to be milder and more soothing.
Have yout tried it with milk? I found it tasted quite good that way.
sadly no milk at work, and none left to try again :(
