I suspect this is a really nice tea if you like Genmaicha. I have a pretty visceral dislike of it (I always hated the scent of puffed rice cereal, and, well, that’s essentially what’s in here). I gave it a try because you never know until you try, but I’ve confirmed I still dislike it. It’s nicely balanced and the minty sting is just the perfect amount. I’m not going to give it a numerical rating because it’s not fair when I just dislike one of the main ingredients.
Flavors: Grass, Peppermint, Rice, Toasted Rice
This somehow reminds me of gingerbread. I really like the flavor of this one. It’s sweet and dessert-y without being over the top. The green rooibos works well – there’s enough of a backbone without making it woody like red would do.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cocoa, Ginger
Preparation
The scent really is that of an almond sugar cookie. Somehow they managed to actually capture the cookie scent. The flavor is a bit of a letdown after that amazing fragrance, but still nice and enjoyable.
Flavors: Almond, Cookie, Sugar, Vanilla
Preparation
This has a definite bergamot flavor without being overly present and sharp. I think the coconut softens it immensely. This tea has a lovely fragrance, but since I’m not a huge bergamot lover, it’s not my favorite. If you like bergamot more than I do, then you’d probably really like this one. I’m not going to numerically rate, since I’d personally probably give it around a 60 but I don’t think that’s a fair rating, if that makes sense.
Flavors: Bergamot, Coconut
I’ve never had banana in a tea before, and I was a bit hesitant because I couldn’t quite imagine it. Additionally, I don’t much care for bananas anyway! But this stuff is like crack, I swear! It is truly banana bread in a cup, but with slightly green bananas so it doesn’t taste overly sweet. I went through my entire package of this stuff in 24 hours. Oops. And on top of that, it’s caffeine free (maybe a touch from the cocoa nibs, I suppose). Most caffeine free teas lack a bit in the flavor department to me, but not this one!
Flavors: Apple, Cinnamon, Green, Nuts
Preparation
This is probably my favorite Tea Revv black tea yet. It really just tastes like a black tea that has underlying chocolate notes, but they are strong enough that I definitely taste them. Not bitter but definitely not sweet. Distinctly chocolate enough that I’m not searching for the flavor, but not so strong that I can’t drink it with a meal. Nicely done.
Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Mineral
I’m not usually a rooibos fan but it worked OK in this tea. Perhaps the fact that it was mixed with honeybush helped enough. This is a fun, kid-friendly kind of tea. It made me think of strawberry frosting somehow, though I’m not sure it was strawberry vs. general tutti-frutti taste. There’s also a strong sweet almond flavor. I was in the mood for warm and sweet and this did the trick. Is it refined in any way? No! But I enjoyed it, so who cares?
Flavors: Almond, Frosting, Fruity, Marzipan, Sweet
Preparation
This definitely has maple in it, but it isn’t a gross or overwhelming maple – it’s just enough to give you that pancake feeling. I can find the jasmine in it if I try, but whether it was just my sample or no, I don’t find it strong at all. I don’t like this enough to buy more of it, but I wouldn’t be upset if I had more.
Flavors: Jasmine, Maple Syrup
Preparation
As my kids would say, I haz a sad. I found some stray bag of this tea, only to discover that I really like it and it’s no longer available. Very strong almond but the fruitiness of the cherry and cranberry cut it so it’s not cookie-like, just warm and sweet. The smell is wonderful, like cherry pie in a cup. I wish I wish I wish it was still around!
Flavors: Almond, Cherry, Marzipan
Preparation
This one is heavy on the pepper and red rooibos. There are other spices in there but these two flavors are pretty overwhelming. I do appreciate a chai that’s supposed to be spicy, actually being spicy, but I don’t much care for this one. The balance is just too off.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Pepper, Wood
