drank Cardamom French Toast by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

I enjoyed this tea overall, but the flavor of the cardamom and the cinnamon lingered in my mouth for too long after.
I had a difficult time deciding how to review this tea because when you sip it, it has a beautiful flavor that can surely compare to that of french toast. I can taste the baked buttery bread, the sugar and of course the cinnamon and cardamon. After however, I just had this taste of pure cinnamon and cardamon in my mouth. It is very possible that I simply had too much of the cinnamon and cardamon when I was brewing it and another cup might be different.

While I do enjoy cinnamon as a flavor, as well as cardamon, it was too much for me for an aftertaste.
While this is a tea I may not be purchasing large quantities of, I would still enjoy it if I had a sample package or if I got a few individual bags because as I said the flavor of the tea itself is wonderful.

drank Chocolate Mint by Harney & Sons
50 tasting notes

This deliciously scented tea brings all the flavors you want in a flavored black tea blend.
From when I opened the tin to when I brewed my first cup and on to my first sip, the mint and chocolate came through. The mint is a very natural and gentle taste, that does not compete with the black tea but comes through with perfect harmony. While the chocolate is stronger in smell than taste, it is most certainly present and is not too sweet or overpowering, just a subtle chocolate flavor.

Most of the chocolate teas I have tried have actual chocolate chips in them, while in this tea chocolate extract is used. While chocolate chips add a creaminess to the tea, the use of chocolate extract allows for a more pure chocolate taste and a more sophisticated overall taste in the tea.

I would recommend this tea to anyone who likes mint or chocolate but also those who are a fan of peppermint teas and are looking to branch out. While the flavor of the black tea is most certainly present, the mint comes through enough for a stronger mint tea taste.

drank S’mores Chai by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

The smell of this tea before brewing will take you back to happy campfire days!

I will admit it… I bought this tea because it was new and the idea of tea that taste like s’mores is amazing.
Once steeped, the smell is still delicious but changes from pure s’mores to more of a rustic fall time chocolate smell… still very nice. The taste is not as strong of a s’mores smell as I was originally hoping for. I definitely get a chocolaty chai taste with hints of graham crackers and an almost smokey taste that you would get from a roasted marshmallow. Instead of a straight marshmallow taste I get more of a nice subtle creaminess.
This tea has some nice sweetness too it, but enough flavors with the sweetness that cut in and prevent it from becoming too sweet. I prefer it at a warmer temperature rather than hot, the flavors are stronger in my opinion.

To me this is the perfect tea to bring me from summer campfires to fall walks in the park.

drank Eton Mess by Bird & Blend Tea Co.
50 tasting notes

This was the first tea I bought when exploring the Bird & Blend Store in England. Eton Mess is such a classic and delicious dessert, how could I pass up on a tea version of it.
At first all I could taste was strawberries, like a very strong, super sweet strawberry.
After it cooled down some (because I did not wait too long after steeping because I was so excited), I could taste the meringue in the background, and the sweetness settled down.

I very much enjoyed this tea, and it did remind me of strawberries and meringue just not too much of the cream. I always picture and enjoy an Eton mess with loads of cream and meringue, and that strong meringue and cream taste was not there for me.

I highly recommend it as a strawberry tea with hints of meringue. I suppose the next time I may try it iced, and perhaps that will allow the creaminess to come through more.
Nonetheless this is still a very delicious tea with a beautiful and strong strawberry flavor that would make any strawberry lover happy.

drank Buddha's Blend by DAVIDsTEA

I received this tea as a sample with my most recent DAVIDsTEA order. I have been curious to try it for two reasons. It is seemingly very popular, and it is supposed to be similar to Seaberry Spa, and I very much enjoy Seaberry Spa.

It is a quick steep at only about 2 and a half minutes. The aroma is beautiful I cannot tell if it is the jasmine or the hibiscus or maybe even the white tea itself. I love the smell even before it is brewed too.

The taste is light, a beautiful combination of white and green tea, with subtle floral flavors in the background. This is the perfect tea for relaxing evenings, for reading a book with or for just feeling good.
I have been having a lot of very sweet and dessert teas lately, and this was a refreshing difference. Definitely the kind of tea I could see myself sitting down to sip while I read a book on a daily basis.
This is hard to compare to Seaberry Spa because I think Seaberry Spa has a more complex flavor profile but the white and green tea blend in this tea is perfection.

I plan to purchase a larger supply of this tea on my next trip to DAVIDsTEA.

drank Raspberry Cream Pie by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

You are walking down the street, and you look into the window of a pastry shop. Sitting there on the second shelf is a small raspberry tart, a thin and buttery crust with a light,
white chocolate filling, and crisp fresh raspberries on the top. The kind of tart you rarely would treat yourself too. That is the taste of this tea.

I have not always been a fan of raspberries, but I have always been a fan of sweet teas. From the first sip, I could taste the crumbly crust, the white chocolate and the fresh slightly tart raspberries. It mirrored a raspberry tart to perfection, despite being names raspberry cream pie. The tea is rather sweet at first but the raspberries tartness could be tasted after the initial sip.

Recently dessert teas from DAVIDsTEA have been just shocking me with the way that a water based beverage could make a dessert that does not taste watered down.

My critique would be that it was so much like a raspberry tart, that I had to finish my cup in two sittings. Luckily I had it brewed in a tea press and it was kept warm. It is a very rich tea, and similar to a very rich dessert you cannot have too much at once.

This was the first pu-erh I have tried, at least knowingly.

After I first brewed I smelled a wonderful chocolate scent, similar to the first smell you might get when baking brownies and the chocolate is just getting melted and gooey. I am a fan of traditional hot chocolate, with steamed milk and bar of melted dark chocolate in it, so I was worried that it would taste too much like a watered down hot chocolate.
It was nothing like that, it did not have that same creaminess or strong pure chocolate taste that hot chocolate has, but I tasted a strong chocolate flavor with what I imagine is the natural pu-erh tea taste in the very background. It did not taste watered down, it was just a lighter taste of chocolate.
It confused my taste buds at first because of that lighter but somehow not watered down chocolate taste. It was sweeter than a dark chocolate but not as sweet as candy bar chocolate.
This tea was delicious and I finished this cup of tea quicker than most, and was going to make myself another cup! Until I remembered this tea has caffeine and it is almost 11 at night.
I am excited to try it as a latte!

drank Seaberry Spa by DAVIDsTEA

A cup of this tea gets me excited to start my day!

The calming and slightly floral smell is therapeutic all on its own. From the first sip to the last I can taste the light lemon, floral and berry taste. The tea contains low caffeine, so I really feel a subtle boost in energy rather than a jolt of energy, and that is much preferred in my opinion. This is the type of tea I could drink all day and not get tired of the flavors.
I would recommend this tea to anyone who loves a gentle cup of tea, and those who need a gentle and relaxing moment with a little bit of energy.

Unfortunately, this tea is retiring and so I will be on the search for a replacement.

drank Red Velvet Cake by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

I was very excited about this tea. I love sweet teas, dessert teas, chocolate and cake. Sounds like it would be the perfect tea for me.
My expectations where not met in the way I was hoping. The tea has a wonderful smell, similar to the smell of melted butter, brown sugar and vanilla. The tea has a beautiful color too, a rich red.

When I first tasted it I was taken back for a moment, was it sweet? was it too sweet? was it bitter? Did I steep for too long or too short? I could not tell, so I took another sip. I was enjoying what I was tasting, but felt it was lacking something. I tasted caramel, vanilla, almost like a browned butter and brown sugar too. What I did not taste was chocolate or any creaminess.

I would recommend this tea even if you do not enjoy red velvet cake, or chocolate. It could be too sweet for some but I enjoy sweet teas.

I will definitely enjoying experimenting with making this tea to a latte or perhaps adding chocolate milk.

drank Candy Cane Crush by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

A cup full of candy cane peppermint bliss.

This cup of tea was smooth and had such a gentle but very full flavor. It almost tasted like a thin piece peppermint bark was melting on my tongue with every sip. The peppermint is stronger than the chocolate, but the white chocolate pieces give the tea a slightly lighter and cloudier appearance as well as a smooth creaminess. I found that the slower I took each sip, the stronger the peppermint was on my tongue, leaving a welcomed and flavorful lasting effect.
I could definitely see how some may find this too sweet, especially since it does have the white chocolate, sprinkles and the pieces of candy cane, however the sweetness was spot on for me. My critique would be that I would rather have more of the candy cane pieces instead of the sprinkles, just to boost the candy cane flavor a little, as well as to maintain the sweetness.
I discovered this tea on sale in late January, so I could not purchase a large quantity of loose leaf, just a few individual tea bags. I will most definitely be purchasing enough to last me through the whole year if/when it restocks this winter.
