This one is not a huge deal, but I can now “like” my own reviews

This is happening to me too, but not all the time and not with every note. It appears to be sporadic, so I’m not sure what’s causing it.

Lala said

That is the same with me. It’s not all the time. I find it more often when I am in my tealog.

Yeah, further testing revealed it’s related to when I’m editing a tea note. If I reload my tealog, then I can no longer “like” my own note.

Jason select said

Are you still able to like your own tasting notes?

Lala said

Mine seem to be all coloured in now so I can’t like them myself. Thanks!

My Dashboard and everything loads lightening fast now, so this is not a bug per se. I’m continuously behind at reading my Dashboard and used to be able to just load the last 3-4 weeks on it by using this work around – http://steepster.com/dashboard?count=1200&kind=index – then clicking “see more”. I’d be able to load like days 21-28 for example. Now the link still works, but clicking “see more” just starts loading from day 1 instead of moving backwards from say day 21. I can quickly load the whole dashboard days 1-28 but this makes using that page and the rest of my browser v slow. Idk if anyone else did this, but if so, have you found a new workaround? I don’t always have time to read everyday and don’t like to miss any notes.

Hmm, interesting use of the dashboard. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be able to support that given the new URLs. Sorry :(. But glad to hear that you’re so dedicated to reading the tasting notes that come through your dashboard!

lol It’s cool. I can read via the all/recent Tasting Notes pages. Thx for getting back to me!

Oh! I just realized that if I go into my ratings it will show me teas that I’ve logged but never rated (and not just ones I deleted the rating from). I hope this isn’t a bug because it gives me a quick and easy way to see how many teas I’ve tried, even if I didn’t want to commit to a rating.

It’ll also show a link saying “Logged X time(s)” and clicking it takes you to the page your review is on. Very smooth. <3

Dinosara said

In a similar vein, on my ratings page the “sort by most logged” never worked for me after the last update. Now it’s actually accurate!

Dexter said

Clicking on the “Logged X times” does not take me to the page my rating is on :(( That is something I would really like, an easy way to find my (or someone else’s) tasting note.

Jason select said

Ok, glad you guys are liking that!

Dexter3657: We put that on the list.

Couple of glitches: I was completely unable to log in until just now, even after deleting all cookies, cache and history. I was only able to log in by clicking the facebook link button below the password field. Also, my cupboard is only 1 page but has 27 teas in it.

Jason select said

Are you still having the login issues? Hopefully those are fixed now, but let us know if that’s not the case.

The cupboard issue should also be fixed.

Well, I did like the number count for the teas in my cupboard, but it looks like that is gone now. It prevented me from buying more teas… sort of.

Dinosara said

Does the number appear accurate on your dashboard page? It does mine, even though when I click on the cupboard it only shows the teas in my cupboard that I have logged.

Ah, I forgot about the dashboard number!

Jason select said

The number on the cupboard/shopping list is missing, got that on the list. The number on your dashboard should be accurate though.

1. Previously notes on the dashboard show up as they come in and the time on them didn’t matter. Now it seems random. I forget who’s page I was looking at and there was a tea that did not come up on my dashboard that I saw a note for there, meanwhile some other notes are not in chronological order from other users.

2. It seems like roughly 15-20% of the time when I click like on a note, it does not “stick” so to speak on the first try.

3. I’m also running into some slowness when clicking notices and when I posted a note. Otherwise I LOVE how quickly you can load older notes on the dashboard!

4. Now I’m getting emails for every single reply to this for posting this. I clicked the bell at the top and it is no longer blue and yet I am still getting emails.

I think all these should be fixed now. Let us know if you’re still seeing any of them though.

I just started a new account (bad timing) and I have no idea if any of these are actually new issues, issues at all, or possibly related to my newbie status – sorry in advance for stating anything obvious.

- When I add a tea to my cupboard, the number increases in the list (‘teas in your cupboard’). However, my actual cupboard remains empty.

- When I add a tea and want to add a location, the drop-down menu goes completely haywire. It updates continuously all on its own, and if I don’t hurry to check the ‘type of tea’ box, it drops down again and freezes in place, effectively covering the top rows of the boxes. (Both in Chrome and FF.)

- I tried adding Thé vert à la vanille by Le Palais des Thés, but the form refused and I got the, ’Can’t add tea, try again’ pop-up. I tried in both Chrome and FF, and tried removing the accents as well, in case that was an issue. Then I tried shortening the name, to just Vert à la vanille, and then it worked. (Of course, I can’t edit the entry, as I haven’t been a member for a month yet. Gnnhhhh.)

- The site is very, very slow for me right now.

Thank you!

(ETA: Okay, so I have to taste note the tea for it to show up in my cupboard.)

(ETA2: I second what someone said above about unsubscribing to this thread and still receiving updates.)

(ETA3: My cupboard is now updated with non-logged teas as well.)

Dinosara said

Incidentally, there is already a tea page for Thé vert à la vanille, you didn’t need to add one.
http://steepster.com/teas/le-palais-des-thes/18121-the-vert-a-la-vanille

We can get them merged, though. Welcome to Steepster!

Thanks! Sorry about that – the drop-down haywire issue affects tea searches for me as well; it just randomly updates, which makes it near impossible to find the right ones. I’ll just give adding new teas a rest until it’s fixed.

Dinosara said

Yeah, I have noticed that the search seems a bit odd if you only use one word of the tea you are searching for (results not relevant at all), but they seem to work if you use two words (for instance, “palais” and “vanille”). Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Hi Anna, welcome to the site! Sorry for the growing pains here. To go over the stuff you reported:

-The cupboard should be accurate now.
-The trouble adding the tea was likely because a tea already existed with that same name, but we’ll double check that and make sure the error message is popping up correctly.
-Unsubscribing from this thread should stop you from getting emails about any updates.
-The slowness is known. We’ve had to take a lot of the speed boost stuff out while we fix the bugs. But once that’s done and we get the speed things back in, it should be a lot faster.

Can you explain the location drop-down thing some more? I’m not sure what you’re referring to about adding a location when adding a tea….

Anna said

Thanks for the welcome – I was around way back when the site launched, but I couldn’t find my old account. Nice to be back, though, and great to see the site doing so well.

- The cupboard works great, aside from the sorting issues previously addressed.

- The pop-up message appeared on cue, but it didn’t tell me the tea already existed, just that it wasn’t working and that I should try again.

- Unsubscribing works now, but I still get new thread notices on-site (I saw someone else mentioning this, and I assume this wasn’t always the case). I also have the problem someone else brought up, where I click on the notice and end up on the first page of the thread, rather than on the new reply, but this has been addressed.

- (I’m pretty sure someone also brought up the ‘all my teas are listed in the cupboard as having been drunk once, when they actually haven’t been taste-noted at all’ problem.)

And sorry to be so unclear – I meant when I want to add the place of purchase… what is it called in the form, let’s see – oh, right, ‘company name’ is what I was getting at. The lists of suggestions, both for teas and company names, are still an issue for me, but I’m sure that’s just the general slowth taking its toll.

Thanks a lot.

Yeah, I also noticed the “Drank 1 time” for a bunch of teas in my cupboard that I’ve never logged before (or even drank in real life, haha).

Jason select said

Some of those have been fixed and other have been noted.

For the on-site notices, you can’t actually unsubscribe from those, but we’ll consider that for an update in the future. It also should be less of an issue once this thread dies down :)

Ah, the company name. Yea, those should be better now. That was related to all the search bars on the site and the slowness.

Also [and I think this is an update-related bug], if I’m on a tea company’s page and go to like a tasting note, it shows me as not logged in only on that page. Clearing my cache etc didn’t fix it. If if I click to the individual note in a separate tab, it shows me logged in and I can like the note.

And, the tasting notes do seem to be out of chronological order now on tea company pages.

I second this one.

Jason select said

Good catch. Not sure that ever actually worked…but theoretically you should be able to do that there :)

It used to work. I often “liked” people’s notes when viewing the tea company’s page.

On the overview page for tea vendors the list of reviews that used to be sorted by most recent now seems to be sorted using some kind of algorithm so the most recent are no longer necessarily on top.

I much preferred having the most recent on top as it gave a quick way to spot new teas or find new users to follow who are buying teas from the same vendors as me. If the change is permanent I must say that I’m a bit sad about it.

I second this one as well.

Jason select said

Got that on the list.

I had the login issue as well until I went to incognito mode in Chrome. Also, I used to be able to visit: http://steepster.com/companies/52teas and see all of the recent reviews of our teas. It looks like there are some recent ones that are missing now.

Jason select said

Have you tried clearing your cookies? Also, if you go to http://steepster.com/logout then log back in, that should fix the issue.

For the recent tasting notes on your company page, are you not seeing them at all? Is it possible that they are on a different page (like when you click “next” at the bottom)? We’ve seen issues with tasting notes being sorted incorrectly on the company page, so I’m guessing that’s actually what you’re seeing. But let me know if that’s not the case.
