2005….where was I? I was a kid trying to succeed in the radio business, no kids, single, and trying to make ends meet. I guess you would call this my Throw Back Thursday Tea. Ten years later I wonder if I’ve still really made it in this biz, 2 kids with one here anytime now, on my second and last marriage, and there’s a whole lot more in between. First I’ve never met a Pu I didn’t like. Erh that is. This one is no different. Dark. Smooth. Earthy. Everything that you would expect from a great Pu-Erh. Good tea is a part of a great daily trifecta. A good cup of coffee, good tea, and a good BM. That’s really all you need to have an excellent day. I am now remembering why I need to take the time to make good tea. Pu-erh has a balancing effect on me. It may be real it may be in my mind. I feel more relaxed after having this tea. I never worry about the quality either. I have not had a tea from Teavivre that is not top quality.

So the wonderful thing about ambibeverageous is that being a Starbucks rewards member I can now get a free ounce of tea rather than a free coffee drink. It’s not just the bottom of the barrel tea either it’s any tea…so of course I went for the Gyokuro. Supposedly the most exquisite and finest quality tea right? First steep the pot is like neon yellow and the sediment left over is almost like matcha. The flavor is smooth and grassy. There isn’t much difference though between this and a really good Long Jing. Seriously the same flavor profile. The real test…ummm yeah this ones a two hump chump. Third steep the leaves couldn’t hack it. The pot was closer to a brown more than bright yellow, and this is doing 1 minute steeps like recommended. I’m sorry but if a tea is going cost that much you should at least get 3-4 good steeps out of the leaves.

Hello friends I miss you. I’ve been missing being on steepster. So I grabbed a bag of this from my mom . I’ve seen this a few places and seems to be really pricey for bagged tea. I know it’s has the purple corn but I wonder if that’s just something to try and sell the tea. Smells pretty good dry. Then I see the red and know there’s hibiscus in there…kind of a disappointment to me. Flavor is just okay. Slightly bitter. It’s just alright.

Good to see you :) Purple corn? That’s a new one for me.

I was all out of straight Pu-erh so this was a part of my Cyber Monday purchase. Sooooooo good! This is all that I love about a good Pu( I may be snickering like a 6 year old as I write that). Dark. Rich. Earthy. It may be a placebo effect, but I feel better when I have a daily cup. I seem to feel more relaxed and balanced drinking Pu-erh regularly. This is definitely a favorite.

drank Yunnan Bo Nay Tea by foojoy

I’m almost done with an entire box. I went to the Asian market where I bought the Aged Yunnan Pu-Erh but this is what they had. It wasn’t terribly priced and sometimes you just need a decent bagged Pu for work….I know that could be taken many ways ;) I not opposed to chrysanthemum in tea, but not my favorite either. I think tastes like dandelions. This is decent. I don’t find it to be as dark and rich as the Yunnan from Foojoy. Most importantly it isn’t fishy. You can always spot cheap Pu-Erh if it’s fishy rather earthy. It’s good though and great in a pinch at work.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. So I was looking into the vast expanse of my cabinet looking for Shou Pu-Erh. The only ones I could find where greens. Then I found a bag that was not labeled and gave it a sniff and thought it was the bolder breakfast. Sure enough that’s what it was. Score! I forgot how much I love this tea. The Pu/Black mix is spot on and the chocolate essence is just right. My only regret is that I have maybe a teaspoon left. I think I will have to get more!
