This is one of the exclusives from the first sub box I received from Deb and with the new box arriving, seems as fitting a time as any to give this a try. Also, the latte made with Deb’s Banana French Toast tea was fresh in my mind so it seemed a good time to make this and compare the two.

Right off the bat I’m going to say I prefer the French Toast as a latte. This is more cinnamon and if I didn’t know better, I would think apple. It’s also not as strongly flavoured which means it’s harder to taste through the prep method. I have more of both teas so I can try them plain but so far I’m meh about this and much prefer the banana French toast

Sipdown! (31 | 161)

This was one of the exclusive teas from my first-ever Dessert by Deb subscription box! To be honest, I’m not sure how I feel about the exclusives, I would almost rather have more teas from her latest collection. But that’s neither here nor there!

This one actually does make me think of muffins. There’s a sort of wheaty bran-esque taste to it, like a healthy breakfast muffin. I also get a nice, fairly authentic banana flavor along with a fairly hefty dose of cinnamon. The combination of all these things is like a hybrid between banana bread and a healthy bran muffin. Somehow I’m also slightly reminded of applesauce, even though there are no apples here. So maybe there’s applesauce in the muffins as well!

I quite like it, and I feel like it’s grown on me more and more as I’ve sipped it down. I like the subtlety of it, it’s not screaming at me, but it still tastes like its name. I’ll have to ponder on whether I want to ask Deb if she’ll blend some for me…

This sounds super interesting! But I think it would work a lot better with a black tea base? Sounds yummy! :)

Honestly the added flavors were pretty subtle here, I’m not sure I would’ve been able to taste them on a black base.

Silent Kettle

I got it! That makes sense! :) I guess this works better with a green tea base then?

Not a big fan of flavoured greens, and this fell into that category. Mostly tasted like banana/cinnamon; I’d have preferred a non-green base.

Silent Kettle

Yeah! I agree. I think the idea of bananas in a green tea sounded odd to me. I prefer flavoured green teas to be floral, citrus, or some of Deb’s other current green tea blends are lovely as well.

I think my sweet spot for flavoured greens is creamy, or berries. I’ve had some fantastic eggnoggy greens, and strawberry/blackberry/blueberry greens. I’m actually not entirely certain that I’ve had a banana green before, actually!

Silent Kettle

Ha-ha! :) That makes sense! Have you tried Deb’s (I think it’s called) Berry Cream Shortcake? It has a nice berry/creamy component to it!

I think for green tea, I really like its pairing with pineapple, honey, apple, citrus, lol! :)
