Tea of the Week for October 11, 2021!

PLEASE NOTE: I had a heck of a time when it came to printing the labels for this tea. The “title” on some of the labels say “Honeybush” and on all of the labels, the ingredients read “Honeybush” – I assure you that this blend IS NOT Honeybush – it is Rooibos. I’m very sorry about the error on the labels!

I actually had a completely different idea for this muffin rooibos blend – but when I got to my tea studio with that recipe, I found that I had less of the necessary ingredients to blend it. So, I thought quickly and decided that I should go with one of my all-time favorite flavor combinations: banana & coconut!

YUM!

This blend starts with our organic, South African Rooibos. I added just a little bit of cinnamon & nutmeg to it – I wasn’t looking to create a strong flavor presence for either spice, but just enough warmth & depth to the cup to give the tea a lovely “bakery” kind of taste. Then I added a bunch of coconut & banana.

It tastes so good! Sweet & fruity banana with the smooth, sweet coconut is a truly delightful pairing. There’s a gentle, mild note of spice. So lovely. And it’s naturally caffeine-free, organic, vegan, gluten-free & all natural!

organic ingredients: rooibos, coconut, banana, cinnamon, nutmeg & natural flavors

To brew: give the pouch a gentle shake to redistribute the ingredients. this step is important – there’s a lot of ingredients in this blend & you want the ingredients to be well distributed throughout the blend so you get all the flavors in every single cup! use 3 ½ grams of leaf to 12oz of very hot (195°F) & steep for 10 minutes. strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. enjoy!

a wee bit of sugar will enhance the overall sweetness of the cup (of course!) & will also help draw out some of those sweeter notes in coconut & banana – as well as encourage the gentle spice notes to shine. if you really wanna go nuts – try adding a teensy bit of brown sugar to the cup – oh my gosh – such a treat!

Hot, this wasn’t quite what I wanted, but cool with milk, it’s so tasty. The banana is sweet and delicious, and all the other flavors combine to make a lovely treat which I could sort of picture as a banana muffin. The resteep was awesome with some oat milk. I’m glad I bought a large bag of this one. The banana, coconut, and rooibos are balanced perfectly.

This sounds so good!!!

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 35)

Just had a vietnamese salad with lime juice/fish sauce dressing; probably not the ideal choice to precede the drinking of new teas. Oops. However, this tea is darn good despite the compromised tastebuds. It really tastes like a banana muffin with coconut creaminess. Very smooth. Rooibos is inoffensive, and the flavours are well-blended and a good strength. I’m pleased/impressed.

My order from 52Teas came! (Hush. I know I wasn’t going to order anymore tea. So sue me) I ordered only four taster packs, but this was added as a sample. It seems like lately I am drinking more herbal and caffeine free teas than black teas, so I was glad to get to try this one.

It was lovely. Mind you, without a sense of smell, I don’t taste much. But this had a nice mouthfeel, and a smooth, almost sweet, flavor without any additives. And it re-steeped nicely too. Now I have ot decide which other Teas tea to brew tonight.

October 2021 Tea

This is a pretty lovely rooibos. Like I knew it would be alright because Anne’s bananas, but it also tastes (and makes my room smell) exactly like my mom’s buttery banana muffins – subbing the butter for coconut oil. Very good stuff. Also, the cinnamon levels in here are finally perfect for me (nutmeg is first, hurrah!) – thank you so much, Anne.

I don’t know why I made the point of drinking a caffeine-free beverage this evening if I was just going to drink a 45oz pot of Alfajores Yunnan Golden Needle immediately after though. I may regret this in a few hours but am pretty happy in the moment.

Did you sleep at all?

Crowkettle

I did! I got under 6hrs, so that’s ok – but it was way too late.
Tonight will be better. No giant pots.
