From DAVIDsTEA

From apple pie to spice cake, fall is truly a season of desserts. And one concoction rules them all. After all, what could be better than a slice of pumpkin cheesecake? With all the warm spice of a classic pumpkin pie, a decadently creamy base and a toasty graham cracker crust, it’s the ultimate seasonal treat. And this sweet and comforting rooibos is just as good as the real thing. Blending maple sugar, white chocolate, pumpkin and spice, it’s dessert in a cup. Limited edition!

Ingredients: Rooibos, honeybush, green rooibos, maple sugar, carrot, cinnamon, white chocolate, safflower, pumpkin, nutmeg, natural and artificial pumpkin flavoring

Kinda just want to get through my backlog, so I might just start copy/pasting my notes directly instead of forming them into full sentences, or God forbid paragraphs.

- Visually, I really don’t see any white chocolate nor do I taste any… Smeh.
- Reminded me a bit of Gingerbread (from DT); same base and very similar spices
- Also maybe that cookie/cake like component could be one they share
- Pumpkin is present though
- It’s really good in a hard to place way and I like it better than Pumpkin Chai
- But the name doesn’t seem accurate

I’m actually quite pleasantly surprised. This is pretty good!

I still like Janet’s Special Pumpkin Spice better. It’s just more pumpkiny, less twiggy, and doesn’t have that white chocolate in it, just waiting to leave a film of grease on everything.

This was my tea of last night, while I made dinner (a pizza, with the ingredients arranged to look like a jack-o-lantern, and pumpkin bread,) and handing out candy to the cute trick or treaters. I love trick-or-treaters, as I love costumes!
My boyfriend thought I was a hoot, as I excitedly ran up to the door every time I heard a little kid coming up to my door. What can I say, I love Halloween!
This was appropriate for the season, and its quite enjoyable, but I’m happy with it being seasonal.

Tealizzy

I run to the door too! Haha! The kids are so cute! Plus, we have a long hallway from the family room to the front door.

Rosehips

Same here, actually! My front door is pretty far away from the living area. Ha.

gmathis

Our poor fairies and princesses had to wear their winter coats last night! First hard freeze of the year; not great weather for sleeveless chiffon tutus :)

The smell of this dry is insane. Yes, it’s got the artificial flavouring going on, but sometimes I’m totally into that (other times I run away screaming… I don’t understand myself…). The first time I made this, I drank it straight. The first sip was fantastic, but as I kept sipping, the spices became too overwhelming for me, almost to the point where I couldn’t finish the cup. However, since then, I’ve added a little milk each time, and it’s absolutely delicious. I’ve been loving this tea at night; it’s so comfy and fall like.
I do honestly get the ‘cheesecake’ thing… mmmm
Rooibos, you’ve become a real friend.

i tried this as a sample while at David’s today. I don’t recall much about it, besides finding it rather tasty. I picked up some more to play around with at home, since i think this might do well as a latte given the flavouring. over all though, the only “pumpkin” tea from david’s that appealed to me after smelling them all.

Tea Count: 138 (was supposed to try and get to 90 by the end of september…way to go terri! and nicole…i’m putting that all on your two! lol)

Terri HarpLady

Oh well, lol, I’m back up to 380 or so, & although it’s mostly my fault, you & Nicole helped :). You’ll be proud of me to know that I haven’t ordered any tea since our visit, even though I have money sitting in my playpal account whispering, “spend meeeee”. Also, I’m starting to line up teas for another addition of *Little Terri’s Ultimate Sipdown Extravaganza!" :)

Sil

i’ve been bad… i ordered the 1 tea sample for us from misty peaks… and then whispering pines things… and now i’m staring at stacy’s teas to try all the new ones before black friday…

Terri HarpLady

Yeah….I was just loitering on Stacy’s page…sigh…

Sil

i picked up a couple… and i’ve got enough tea desires to place another order later when she releases a few more teas

I truly love this tea, and it’s surprised me. Out of the handful of new DAVIDs Teas that I’ve tried today, this is by far my favorite. I want to say it tastes like a pumpkin pie baked over an open flame, like a campfire, but not in a traditionally tea-smoky way. It’s the nutmeg, I’m sure…. plus I had it with a healthy dollop of cream (as the staffer suggested) and now it’s just plain decadent.

hmm. I wish I had gotten this instead of the pumpkin patch now!

Anlina

I passed on this one too, and got Pumpkin Patch, but maybe I need to go back and get it.

OMGsrsly

Huh. I should check this one out!

MissB

Definitely check it out. The longer steep really seemed to help, and it needs some sort of sweetener to make it pop. I just can’t brew the black version long enough to make it palatable.

DeliriumsFrogs

Longer steep! I must try this! (and I already thought it was great at just 5 minutes…). I completely agree with you about it needed some sort of sweetner (that makes it SOO good…), and the cream! I wasn’t too big on it until I added milk (I think I’ll do cream next time…).

New tea, first tasting! Yay! The name of this one sounds so promising…the dry smell, mapley and sugary and sweet. Not much pumpkin…not much cheesecake. It is akin to Della Terra’s Carrot Cake for sure as a few other reviews have noted. I steeped it for 5 minutes with boiling water. The steeped smell is also ridiculously sweet, lots of maple sugar.

As for the flavor, also sweet maple flavor, with some creaminess. It’s not too bad, not a whole lot of pumpkin flavor, but there is a bit, and there are some spices as well. Very similar to Carrot Cake by Della Terra lol, which I didn’t mind, except for the fact I couldn’t find the cream cheese icing part. This one, I can’t really find the cheesecake part either! And it’s really quite sweet for my tastes. But it’s caffeine free, and will be nice for if I get a sugar craving.

Non tea related part below, skip if you want

Ugh, sorry for the hasty, messy note. I am in a right terrible mood right now due to problems with my house, aka inlaws wanting to renovate the whole basement of our house and basically taking liberties to rip up an entire room in the basement. Oh yeah, that also helps my sensitive, asthmatic lungs heal. I went down there and couldn’t breathe. Just wonderful. Sorry for the rant, I usually don’t like to rant on the internet. But there you have it. Hopefully my review doesn’t zoom up to the top of the feed LOL. No rating on this tea yet cuz I just can’t think straight to rate it.

mrs.stenhouse12

Oh, lovely, there is my note, at the top of the reviews, at least on my browser. :D lol

Fjellrev

The situation with your house sounds completely unreasonable. I hope it’ll get better for you soon.

Courtney

I agree with Fjellrev. I hope it’s over quickly and you can get back to normal.

mrs.stenhouse12

Yeah I hope it sorts itself out, it will be easier with the bd back to talk to his folks lol, being caught in the middle is not the best place to be

Just saw a review likening this to Della Terra’s Carrot Cake – I agree. Kind of a fall-spiced rooibos with definite pumpkin overtones, but not really any cheesecake. I tried this both in-store and at home, and had a similar impression both ways, so I doubt I’m brewing it incorrectly. Anyhow, for a caffeine-free fall pumpkin tea, I think it’s decent, but I prefer the flavour of the other new tea.

VariaTEA

That was me who made the comparison so I am glad I am not the only one who felt that way.
