drank White Blueberry by Adagio Teas
353 tasting notes

I picked this up in a sample size because I love blueberries. I’m not normally a fan of fruity tea but thought I’d give it a try. For $2, why not?

This tea smells divine. I could stand all day inhaling the fumes from the bag. The brewed tea also smells lovely though the blueberry scene is not as strong.

Taste: Very subtle. I can definitely taste the blueberry and the white tea, but as with most fruit teas, the two flavors seem to negate each other. Unlike other fruit teas, though, I didn’t hate it.

I think I will have to try this cold. I think I’d enjoy it better, with some sugar.

drank Oolong (bag) by EnjoyingTea.com

Meh. This is pretty subpar oolong, but I honestly wasn’t expecting much since it was bagged, and included in my order from EnjoyingTea.com for free (I didn’t even request it!). So thanks for the free tea, but I’m going to leave this in the office cupboard for my coworkers.

I steeped this for a long time because I got distracted. When I finally did take a sip, the color was a darkish brown. Taste: practically non-existent for the amount of time the tea steeped.

drank Darjeeling Blend by Harney & Sons

Darjeeling isn’t my favorite tea, so that will color my review. I didn’t think this was anything special. It was pleasant to drink but I wasn’t blown away like some other reviewers were. It definitely tastes “woody” as others have mentioned, but I’m not tasting any of the caramel others are. I think I prefer oolongs.

Supposedly there is berry flavor in this. I can barely taste it – it’s more of a faint aftertaste than any mingling with the oolong flavor, and I can only detect it if I’m really concentrating.

It’s not bad. I actually really like this – it’s a nice strong oolong. I’m actually okay without a strong berry flavor because I’m not sure I would have liked it that way.

It’s 95 degrees and muggy in downtown Washington, DC. My coworker was making a Starbucks run so I handed her a fiver and asked for one of these bad boys. I’d never had it before but I was intrigued.

Grande made with soy milk and with whipped cream. YUM. Definitely a fan. The matcha is strong and comes right on through in the flavor. I love it.

(Also, I’m quite amused this drink is on Steepster. I just looked it up on a whim and there it is! Glad it is though.)

drank Paris by Harney & Sons

I had received a pyramid bag of this as a sample with my order. I was pleasantly surprised with this tea. It smelled wonderful when steeping, and tasted even better. I don’t normally like flavored teas, but the flavor is very subtle and complements rather than overpowers the black tea. It’s very reminiscent of Earl Grey, because of the bergamont, but with fruity undertones. Very very nice. I’ll be buying a tin of this for sure.

Thanks for the sample, Harney & Sons. You made a sale!

drank Milk Oolong by TeaCuppa

I have a little bit of the apple blossom tea leftover from last night so I mixed this with my nightly milk oolong. At first sip, it was a bit tart but quickly mellowed into deliciousness.

drank Earl Grey by Harney & Sons

A very solid Earl Grey. The dry tea had a very nice, strong aroma. I steeped it for about 3 minutes and drank it plain without sugar or milk. The flavor is a bit more subtle than other Earl Grey’s, but not unpleasantly so. I actually liked this better, I think. Not bitter, not overpowering. Captain Picard would approve.

At the time of tasting and writing this note, the tea in question has been sitting in a paper bag in my pantry for over a year so I imagine the flavor is off. It’s definitely not as strong as I remember it being when I first got it. (I didn’t know anything about tea other than it was yummy, and I wasn’t spending $7 on a tin to hold 2 oz of tea.)

Despite that, I really like this tea. It’s a nice green tea. On the first sip, the toasted rice flavor hits after the tea taste and it’s delightful. After, the two flavors mingle together.

Very nice. I have some new Genmaicha (from Harney & Sons) in my cupboard that I’ll have to try and compare.

drank Apple Flower Tea by TeaCuppa

A very pleasant, light floral taste. Slightly sweet, slightly sour. It’s similar to chrysanthemum tea with a slight sour undertone. Very very nice. I think this would taste lovely blended with some oolong or black tea.

Bio

I’m a tea-aholic. I’ve always loved tea. It is soothing and warm and comforting. I always had it when we went out to eat as a child so my first association is with rich and delicious food.

As an adult, I’m learning to enjoy tea on its own merits, and bask in its subtleties and varieties. The ritual of making a cup of tea is instantly relaxing.

I prefer oolong and white teas, followed by greens. For the most part, I don’t like straight black tea, but appreciate it as part of a blend or flavored. I’ve learned to love the world of flavored teas out there.

I’m slowly learning to appreciate rooibos blends, which I started drinking for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Love: Oolong, almond, coconut, peach
Hate: Ginger
