drank Dirty Chai by Della Terra Teas

Let me start off by saying, my favorite coffee shop drink is chai, and when I need energy I usuallly get it this way. The place I go even calls it Dirty Chai so thats what drew me to it. Smell in the bag didn’t smell like much other then coffee and I don’t like black coffee in the least, so I was expecting to have to make it into a latte to make it drinkable. But I wanted to see if I liked it pure first. The smell in the cup is still overwhelmingly coffee-esque. A slight spicyness is there, but not the way I’m used too from the coffee house.

Upon drinking it I found that the chai itself had sweetened the flavor. This is seriously one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. I am truely in love. Just the right amount of spice and the right amount of dark. It reminds me of what you’d get if you found the just perfect blend of a super spicy chai and a super heavy black tea. All the things I love in one happy little mouthful. This will be first on my list to buy more of, since I only bought a sample. So brilliant!

Deeply impressed with this tea. I’m usually more of a spicy tea drinker then a fruity tea drinker. But this one is brilliant. The flavor of the fruit is all in the scent, and the taste on the tongue is more subtle. I love that it doesn’t taste overwhelmingly like that fake peach ringy flavor that many peach things end up with. Mellow is a good name for it. Its definitly a mellow relaxing drink. Might buy again once I run out of other things to try, but as I like spicyness better, I don’t think I’d drink it quick enough to merit buying a large amount.

Triple steeped these leaves and still getting a great amount of that black tea deliciousness. I greatly recommend this one because of how sweet it starts out AND how it mellows. My husband even liked it, and though I’ve found he’s a sucker for black tea, it still says something for him to say he could drink it daily. This is definitly a Re-buy. Totally impressed.

The scent of this tea could be used for aromatherapy, if nothing else. Smelling it makes me drowsy. The lavender is strong in scent but subtle in the flavor. Make sure you strain this carefully, I got a LOT of little bits doing it not in a tea infuser. Still delicious and it knocked me right out for the night. Well made and drinkable. Highly recommend it for insomniacs like myself.

Made this tea getting ready for work and looking for something a bit sweet to get me moving. The smell of it is great, truely appley, but the smell of almonds from the almond slices was there too. I was concerned that there might be a lack of ‘pie’-ness to it because crust as a liquid didn’t jive in my head. After one glass both my husband and I were impressed. I’m on my third cup from the same leaves now and I’m in LOVE. When resteeped it becomes so much lighter the it originally is, since its a black tea. I would willingly buy this again, but luckily I’ve got a big bag of it. Great choice for an item in my mystery box.

This is my first Pur-eh tea, and I am impressed. Just sweet enough, just savory enough, and with an absolutely AMAZING smell that reminds me of chocolate covered strawberries or cherries. I am in love. It might be one I get more of just because its brilliant.

So, after reading the reviews here I definitly had high hopes for this tea. Made myself a cup, and at first the aroma was amazing. It smelled like vanilla spice and I was excited. Letting it cool down to the point where it was drinkable was a mistake. The scent turned into nothing but pepper corn, and not in a remotely good way. I felt like I’d be drinking broth instead of tea, and it made it immesely hard to drink. When I finally got a few gulps down, it wasn’t terrible, but it took a good amount of honey to make it drinkable. I may give it another chance with some cream in it to see if its better that way, but I won’t be paying for it again. Glad I only got the sample of this one.

On the first steep in my French press, the white chocolate was truely there. On a second steep in the same French press, less chocolate and more bitter. I definitly enjoyed the first steep though, so I’m going to see what I can do to make it more resteepable. I love the scent. Its brilliant!

This is not something I’d pay for, luckily its the free sample I got with my big order. I don’t hate it, but the smell reminds me of wood chip mulch, and thats a bit distracting. I don’t get much of the vanilla, but having not tasted the NOT vanilla I don’t have a comparison point so I’m not sure. The smell definitly has a honey note to it before steeping, but once its steeped I only get that woodchip smell. I’ll use this up, and maybe try one other variety as a free sample on my next order out of curiosity to see if I like the style but not the flavor, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

drank Samurai Chai Maté by Teavana

I may be partial because this is the first loose leaf I tried that I truely fell in love with, but as of right now this is my favorite tea. Its super easy to drink and blends amazingly with most anything else. My favorite are the Golden Monkey (the mix is 50/50 and i’ve named it Samurai Monkey, great mental image) and the Zingiber Ginger Coconut. I haven’t tried it with any non Teavana teas yet as I didn’t have anything til a few days ago. I greatly recommend this tea to anyone who likes Chai.

Detroiter, tea drinker, fangirl pagan. Ask away.

Interested in trying any and all teas I haven’t tried. Variety is the spice of life and the bane of my existance. If I have the tea to trade, I’m more then willing to swap.

Loves : Flavored Blacks, Honeybushs, Roobios and Herbals
On the fence : Greens
Dislikes : Smokey teas or really grassy green teas. If I want to taste grass clippings I’ll eat guacomole, not drink something thanks.
