Not much to say on this one except ‘skip it.’

To be fair, AKBAR is a very cheap brand of tea so I was not expecting much from this. It still managed to taste like…absolutely nothing. I mean that it literally has no flavour. Which is one step up from being offensive, I suppose. Save yourself the trouble and drink a cup of hot water instead.

It’s about half the price of Bigelow/Twinings and half as good.

Others here are right. It is one of the most powerful Earl Greys in term of scent out there. It can be easily overbrewed and turned it to harsh black liquid. One teaspoon for two cups of tea is definitely enough. If prepared properly, this tea tastes very well and pleasant. Fragrant but natural, strong yet soothing. It is all about how you prepare it.

My cousin got me an AKBAR tea gift box some time ago. I just started tasting them.
The first one was the Pure Ceylon Black Tea.
Though strong, if prepared correctly,it can very tasty for tea time or even at breakfast.

I sweetened it a little bit because I’m not overly fond of black teas, but of course, that is opional.

let’s get down to it:

Flavour: Sharp bergamot, rich, almost sweet.

It bites your tongue. It hits your mouth with a richness not seen in cheap teas.

Do Ghazal is good iced or hot.

why 75?
it’s rich, almost creamy, but leaves you hanging when you finish it, much like a missed high five.
It gives you caffeine, flavour, but not much else.

This is a strong Earl Grey – the Black Tea is actually the star of the show here! The earl grey flavor is there, but wow this tea is so black it can be harsh! Perfect for waking up or keeping going on a busy dreary day. The leaves are very small (ground up) but you get a large bag of it in the box.

Oddly I find this tea to be much better Iced than served Hot! It becomes a wonderful refreshing drink during the summer – brew it hot, and pour the hot Do Ghazal onto ice. Delicious – add just a pinch of sugar.

Hot – depending on your tolerance for harsh black tea, you will probably need Sugar to drink it.

I would recommend it if your open to trying all types of Earl Grey and experimenting with tea – its interesting.

Not that dark, flavor is not that great. It reminds me of some junk thing that stores have as “De-Luxe” tea.

I have the loose leaf tea variety and it really isn’t that great. If you can, get some other earl grey.

Also, it’s not real Bergamot in it. It’s just the flavoring.

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT

It’s fantastic when it’s iced! Warm, meh, but cold HECK YEEEEAAAAHHH. Add sugar to it, definitely, but as a cheap tea, it’s pretty good ICED.

I got this loose leaf at an Indian market. It was really inexpensive and it makes a nice everyday tea. It pairs well with milk and sometimes condensed milk. It’s nothing extraordinary but it’s not bad in the least.

This is possibly the worst tea I ever had. Not helped by brewing preparation which was probably too hot, but really undrinkable stuff – bitter bitter and with an artificial “lemon” flavouring which reminds me totally of “lemon” cleansing products but not lemon. Horrible.

A review of Green Tea with Peppermint by Akbar

I had purchased this tea during one of my impromptu store visits at a grocers in Brookline, MA; Bazaar Gourmet Royal Delicacies. When I reviewed this tea, I remember not liking the tea since I found the mixture of spearmint and peppermint to be too strong and evasive. I said it was like a toothpaste kind of freshness.

Anyhow, since moving and residing in where there is always perpetual dust and musty odor in the air, I have been placing the tea bags in groupings like sachets to use them as air freshener of sort. For months I have been doing this and the heady aroma of the peppermint with spearmint is still very noticeable.

Last evening, I took one of tea bags from a cup that I had a bunch of tea bags in and put this is my tea mug and poured very hot water over the tea bag and left to steep for several minutes. The tea’s color is golden brown and tea’s aroma is very fresh smelling and sweet. And when tasted, sip after sip it is a lively clean taste that is both refreshing to the palette and a delight to the nostril.

This tea makes me think of that after dinner mint or first thing in the morning for wanting fresh breath and off gum chewing.

I guess what I am saying is: if one is wanting for a refreshing cup of tea with effect for gum chewing than this is the tea for you since it has that fresh breath quality to it.

I have found many uses for this tea; as sachets in dresser drawers, in cups and small baskets filled with tea bags to freshen a room and when i reached for one to make tea with, it is still usable and makes a good strong cup of tea. I am saying the tea’s aroma cannot be broken, even after months of being exposed the tea bags are still quite good as teas. I like seeing them around as sachet/teabags that is all.

Sachet—that’s a great idea!

A review of Green Tea with Peppermint by Akbar

This is another mint tea that I wanted to re-try. I find the peppermint in this tea is very strong, too potent. I did not want it as iced tea but wanted to try it as sweetly mint tea with the hopes for diffusing the mint somewhat.

I bring fully cold water in a small pan to boil and placed one tea bag into the pan and after about two minutes I turn off the fire. I take several spoonfuls of sugar and add this to the golden liquid before me in the pan. Adding the sugar while tea is boiling does make the air around me sweeter.

Tea has a lovely golden color, very bright and smell sweetly of sprigs of mint. If only when I taste it could be more tea and less mistiness. I mean not the mouth rinse mint taste I had when last I tried this tea.

So there is improvement with tea’s aroma with the adding of sugar. And when I finally taste the tea it is sugary, minty and not as over powering as before.

This tea has a bright, lively smell to it; and a clean palate. Yet it is not soothing and with the sugar added to tea it become thick in flavoring. Tea’s lasting taste is that of peppermint.

A review of Green Tea with Peppermint by Akbar

This is another tea that I had acquired during my visit at Bazaar Gourmet Royal Delicacies in Brookline, MA.

Since this is green tea; I let the water boil for about five minutes; until boiling. I take my cup and place one tea bag into my cup and fill it with the water. I then let it steep for a few minutes.

I like how the peppermint is very pronounce, it is strongly scented of peppermint since I can still smell it on my fingers. And this smells permeates in the air as well.

The tea’s color is a golden brown and with tasting this tea, it is the peppermint that one is greeted with at first. It is a lively clean that is both refreshing to the palette and a delight to the nostril.

This tea makes me think of that after dinner mint or first thing in the morning for wanting fresh breath and off gum chewing.

I guess what I am saying is: if one is wanting for a refreshing cup of tea with effect for gum chewing than this is the tea for you. As it has that fresh breadth quality to it because of the rich peppermint flavor.

A review of Earl Grey by Akbar

Using freshly broiled water, I take one tea bag and put this in my cup and pour the boiling water into the cup and left to steep for five minutes.

This tea always brews very dark amber in color with slight rosy undertone to it. Tea is smooth, with a very sweet malt flavor but not an Assam tea but a Ceylon tea packed in Sri Lanka.

Tea’s body is mild to full; I say this, because to me the smoothness and creamy texture that is to be found in this cup of tea gives it a fleeting impression. There is no off-taste, and the tea is very bright and lively in the cup; a dark rosy coloring and it has a slight drying effect when swallowed.

Overall this tea has good liquor qualities, in that there is substance to it. It is a wonderful Earl Grey!

A Review of Earl Grey by Akbar

I am using freshly boiled water with one tea bag added in my cup and I leave this to steep for several minutes.

I remove the tea bag after the set time and stir it gently. Tea is dark in coloring and I can smell hints of the bergamot citrus.
This Ceylon tea is as smooth as it is creamy with a fine citrus aroma. The Earl Grey is just rightly so. It is not at all over powering as I had experienced with some other teas.

Overall taste for this simple cup of tea is its smoothness in character withstanding first to last sipping. It has exactness to the cup.

Review Earl Grey Tea by Akbar & Flavoured Apple Tea by Princess Noori

I have admitted to liking this Earl Grey by Akbar as well as the Flavoured Apple Tea. I had been enjoying my first cup of this Earl Grey earlier in the day. I took one tea bag and having let the water come to full boil I poured the water into my cup and let it simmer. I drank the first cup hotly and the tea’s aroma smells wonderfully raw and robust. For some reason I thought to add a bag of the Flavoured Apple to this tea just to find out if I would continue enjoying this tea. I added the boiling water to the tea and left it to steep for several minutes.

Now, I smell more of the apple scented tea and some of the bergamot citrus oil is coming through as well. Tea is darker in color; darken amber and is piping hot. I take a sip and let it roll around and swallowed abruptly since very hot.

I waited a few minutes before taking another sip and this time I am able to enjoy the flavors of apple and bergamot; this tea is smoother and smell wonderful. I would say I am enjoying what is in my cup more because the apple flavoured is so noticeable with this mixture in the tea’s layering.

These two tea bags are malty, creamy and smooth with good heft all around. And there is a muscatel effect to it with the adding of the apple-flavoured tea.
I like this combination as it works for my taste buds.

At times I mixed my tea bags when one flavor is lessening and I take what is similar and throw it into the cup with added boil water. Often it is good mixing. unorthodox of me I supposed.

Another review Earl Grey Tea by Akbar

I am happy to say that I continue to enjoy this Sri Lankan tea and I can drink this for most of the day and not tire of it.
I use freshly boiled water and one tea bag. After the water has boiled, I pour some water into my cup with the tea bag and leave to stand for several minutes. I like to keep my tea covered until I am ready to drink it.

It is always a lovely surprise when removing the cover to view the tea’s color; in this instance it is that darken rosewood or mahogany that I continue to equate the color with. I stir into the tea a small teaspoon of raw sugar. I am looking to bring about more of the creaminess, if at all possible since this tea is already very smooth.
The added sugar does enhance the flavoring and to having the tea very hotly brewed. It is quite an effect.
It is truly a lovely tea, a very good Earl Grey tea. Excellent!

A review Earl Grey with Bergamot by AKBAR
I used freshly boiled water in a pan and left it to boil for a good five minutes. I placed one tea bag in my cup and pour the boiling water into the cup and left to steep with cover on for several minutes.

I like that this is tea bags and from a quick sniff it is lovely with slight smell of the orange peels that being the bergamot (citrus fruit).

Tea’s color after steeping time is over is a lovely dark red with a very good heft in that the nose of tea aroma is smooth and clean with first tasting of the tea. It is creamy and malt-like with a drying effect when swallowing to the back of throat.

This is a very clean tea with a very good finish, as it stands on its own from first taste to last. It is a fulfilling tea, with each taste it does quench hunger; during the meal or as an after meal drink.

Overall note for this cup of tea: Tea’s liquor is that of malt with a reddish color. Tea has no off taste, it is a clean style that refreshes the palate. This is fine Assam tea mixed with Earl Grey. Tea is both smooth and creamy with thick liquor; it has substance.

I had this tea plain and I enjoyed it immensely with several infusions from the one tea bag I started with. I went so far to add a second bag to my cup and the taste was still an enjoyably smooth and creamy malt cup of tea.

This is another great tea purchased from Bazaar International Gourmet of Brookline, MA. Thank you for caring such fine teas!
