Thank you Mercuryhime for this sample. While its not my all time favorite tea by any means I didn’t find it as bad as most. I enjoyed its breakfast cereal flavor – I did have it for breakfast though. I feel I did over steep it or perhaps steeped it too hot as there was a bitterness but I won’t hold that against the tea – that was my fault – was too sleepy still while making it.
I would try this again. Don’t think I will run out and buy it (yeah right I order online but you get the drift) but I would not refuse it either!

Mercuryhime

It’s a little better cold, but I think I prefer the Strawberry Seduction which i also sent you.

In any case SpecialTeas has been eaten by Teavana, which is sad cause I liked SpecialTeas even if not all their teas are amazing. :)

Azzrian

Yeah I saw that … good thing I didn’t fall in love with them huh!

This tea is amazing for a bagged inexpensive tea. One of the best! It has some of the same yet not quite as high of quality of Teavivre’s Bailin Gongfu Black. Granted you are going to get far more complexity and flavor out of Teavivre but just to draw some form of comparison I wanted to mention that I am picking up on some of the same notes.

Haven’t been tealogging much the last couple of days but then I have not had many teas either. Been feeling sickly so just sleeping a lot. Today I had to get out to a fundraiser function with my daughter for Children’s Miracle Network – a WONDERFUL charity that has helped us in the past with her many medical needs! Love them! Regardless – when I got home I wanted something simple, something I knew I would enjoy, not too over powering as my tummy is still upset, something soothing, something I knew how to steep without looking at directions lol.
This seems to be one of my comfort teas. Reliable, dependable.
No rating change – just logging.
Now…back to the sofa.

Missy

Hope you feel better soon.

MegWesley

Yes, feel better soon. Feeling rotten is no fun.

Kittenna

Oh boo, spend some quality time on that couch with your tea in hand! (Or tea beside you as you sleep, haha.)

LiberTEAS

Hope you feel better soon! Never fun being sick!

Scott B

It’s nice to have something comforting when you’re not feeling well.

Azzrian

Thanks everyone – very appreciated – I tend to get sick often but don’t stay sick long. Its odd but its okay. :)

Indigobloom

aww I hope you’re almost better! xx

SimplyJenW

Feel better soon!

Azzrian

Thank you all!

Free Sample from Teavivre.
First steep I decided to drink instead of use as rinse – leathery, not fishy at all other than slightly very slightly in aroma and if you can get past that which I did easily it is quite rich and lovely!
Tastes of wood, sandalwood specifically come out.
Slightly perfume like flavor.

The following steeps still tasted dark, chocolate notes come out, the leather like flavors still present and I am feeling very relaxed!

Pu-erh is a very lovely special tea which I always throughly enjoy.
Thank you Teavivre for this sample!

Scott B

I have this at home, but have been a little nervous about trying a Pu-erh.

Azzrian

Go for it! I would recommend a rinse – about 30 seconds or full steep time – dump then steep again. Now I did drink my “rinse” steep but I love Pu-erh and this was not my first time. I would only suggest this to mellow you into the idea of pu-erh but you CAN drink it by all means. I will say this is not my all time FAVORITE pu-erh but it is nice a good place to begin!

Scott B

Thanks for the tips. I’m not as worried about the taste as much as whether any mold or yeast in the tea will give my allergy problems.

TeaBrat

Scott – I have allergies too and have not had any problems with pu-erh that i know of…

Scott B

Thanks, Amy. I’ll get to it eventually. Think I will try Verdant’s Imperial Breakfast first-it has a little bit of Pu-erh in it.

Azzrian

Ah yes sorry Scott that is a whole different animal!

drank Caramel by KIMICHA

This has a nice caramel flavor. Good black tea base. Did not do too well on re-steeping but I got two great cups out of it! I have discovered finding a GOOD caramel tea is difficult. This really hits the mark and I would recommend giving it a try! I mean look its not going to be one of MY all time favorite teas because honestly for me, caramel tea is not on my “I MUST have a good caramel black tea in my stash” list. But for those of you who do like to have a good caramel black – this may be the one for you!

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec
Sandy Stith

I picked up a tasty apple caramel black tea at the nearby teahouse. No idea what brand it is. The owner was cagey. Let me know if you’d like me to send you a sample.
Also, as caramel goes, Creme au Caramel (rooibos) by Tropical Tea Co. is very yummy.

Azzrian

Hey Sandy – that actually sounds yummy (Caramel Apple) I have some of the Tropical Tea Co Rooibos and yes it is actually pretty good!
Always happy to do tea trades if you want just let me know! ;)

Sandy Stith

I would love to do a swap, and have never done one with anyone but Dylan (who sits 20 feet away from me at work). How do we work out the details?

Azzrian

LOL!!!!! I will PM you! :)

Purchased on Fab.com during a foodie sale. I had Fab credits so got all five of their teas at a very good price. Basically paid shipping.
I am not in love with this tea although I would not toss it out.
I am going to give it more time, and a few more steeps before I decide on a rating for it.
I may give it a go with less leaf.
This steep however is leaving a lot to be desired.

chadao

What is left to be desired? Depth of flavor? Flavor in general? Was it bitter?

Azzrian

It was slightly bitter, no complexity, a very what you get on that first sip is what you get. Now I will say I have not felt well AT ALL today (again) so I am going to give it another go when I am feeling better – however this Teavivre, Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe) is amazing – which tells me a good tea is a good tea no matter how one is feeling.
I will give it more chances though and try the others as well.

Kasumi no Chajin

loving this one personally, found it delicate, complex, brothy, layered.

drank Almond Rooibos by The Tea Haus

Thank you Indigobloom for sharing this with me! I really was surprised! I was not in the mood for a rooibos but lately I have been trying to cut back on caffeine at night although I found I sleep better with a little in the evening – regardless …. this was SO SO YUM!
I think that I may have to put this on my to order list!
Very good!

Indigobloom

almond is a tricky one, I’m really glad you like it! xx

Azzrian

I was surprised at how much i liked it! Its not up there with Almond Cookie but it is VERY good! :)

drank Teh Tarik by Owl

So hard to think of this as tea. Its creamy, it has a good flavor, black tea I guess, it says “instant” so I don’t know.
I got this from Enjoyingtea.com
Its sort of a cross between a hot cocoa, a latte and a tea.
I like it and am enjoying this cup. I like that the packages are individually wrapped so I can share it with others.
Not bad at all, just not sure what to think of it.

Cool video of this guy magically pouring this tea! Amazing!

Missy

That’s pretty awesome. Reminds me of those bartenders that pour stuff all crazy.

Azzrian

Haha yeah it does!

Yogini Undefined

wow that was amazing! Looks like he was on rollerblades or something, as he spun so smoothly!

Dylan Oxford

Holy hannah that was crazy.

Azzrian

Yeah Yogini I thought he was on skates or something!

drank Grape Sencha by Den's Tea
807 tasting notes

A delightful grape sencha!
I followed steeping instructions and it turned out perfectly but I can see tweaking steep times and temps slightly to your palate.
Pretty to look at.
I could smell the grape through the bag as soon as I took it out of the packing box!
It smells far more kool aid like that it tastes once brewed which is a good thing IMO.
It is very natural tasting when steeped!
Absolutely a wonderful morning cup hot or iced!
Love Den’s Tea!!!
Fast shipping, great service.
Thank you Den’s for another winner!

Most of my reviews will be “snippits” of full reviews that can be found at http://sororiteasisters.com/
Posted every evening at 6 EST.
I usually try to post the exact date that the full reviews will post however sometimes post dates need changed so it may not always be correct. Generally the dates are correct however.

About Me:

Most of my reviews, although not all, will be quite favorable of the tea. This is not because all tea is excellent, but more so because I generally will not waste my time on an inferior tea. If I do not care for a tea I won’t continue to drink it let alone spend time reviewing it. If you see a review by me you basically know it is a quality tea. Granted it may not suit your specific taste buds, we all like different things, but as for a tea on the whole it is a good one, from a good company.

I am a spiritual advisor by profession.
I have two “young adult” children.
Four cats and three dogs.

Some of my hobbies include gardening, essential oil therapy, natural perfumery with essential oils, and cooking.

I look for complexity overall in any tea, dimensions to the flavors.

I believe tea should evoke a feeling, thought, emotion, or attitude.

I enjoy most all oolongs, blacks, whites, and greens.

I always love to try a good yellow tea.

I favor unadulterated teas but I do have my longings for a good flavored tea now and then so I don’t rule them out by any means!

I enjoy green rooibos don not like red rooibos.
