75 Tasting Notes
Just received a bag of this from Della Terra, chosen mostly because it was on sale and it sounded interesting. The peppermint is not as strong as I feared, and it’s actually a bit weak for my taste, possibly due to the mellowing effect of the vanilla. Pleasant and not overpowering, with the good black tea base I’ve come to expect from this tea blender.
I put off trying this in the LoTR pack, mostly because I’m burnt out on apple/cinnamon combinations. However, this is delightful and I’m glad I have the rest of the tin to sip on. Clove takes the front seat, and clove is one of my favorite spices. Easy to drink straight up, which is my preference in tea.
Flavors: Cardamom, Clove
Light, earthy/grassy flavors, even after a long steep. I love this tea plain. It’s not bitter or acidic and satisfies that craving for warm and savory.
Flavors: Earth, Grass
Preparation
First time, I think the water was too hot. I let the pot sit for a minute after boiling for the second cup before pouring it over the leaves, and I noticed more flavor. It’s not very strong, but pleasant.
This came in a set with five other LoTR themed teas that my sister (Em) sent me for my birthday. She’s cool like that.
Preparation
I had a cup of this a while back after I picked it up at the fancy grocery near my house. I like smokey beers and peaty scotch, so I figured I’d enjoy a smokey tea. Turns out, this is an exception. I passed it along to my Dad, who likes lapsang souchong teas, and is amassing a collection of them as Em and I try and then pass off these teas.
