This is lovely. It is subdued with a slightly lavender, vanilla, creamy flavor. If I had written this review when I first received the pouch it would have been meh. But, after going through the pouch I have found that I thought it was meh because it was different from what I traditionally like. Since that first steep, this tea has grown on me. Its soft, slightly sweet flavor is delightful and satisfying. The flavors meld together so that it is difficult to separate out the contributing elements even knowing what they are. I think it makes a great warm cup of tea that I found myself reaching for more and more. And, now I’m down to the last cup.

drank The Smoking Coconut by 52teas

This is very coconutty and creamy. Really good morning cup of tea. The smokiness is so slight, it really is more of a light counter-balance to the creaminess. The whole tea is just really smooth with no bitterness or astringency and great flavor.

drank Pumpkin Juice by 52teas

I think I have finally found the steeping parameters that really work for me. I used nearly boiling water and steeped the tea for about 40 seconds. While I know that pumpkin isn’t a very strong flavor, I was a little surprised when I first tried this tea and it tasted really fruity. The pineapple was definitely the dominant taste. But, with this steeping, I think it’s more balanced. I taste pumpkin and light cinnamon in addition to the pineapple. I think it gives the tea a unique combination of fruity and savory. And, the green tea base is really smooth with no astringency. A yummy morning cup of tea :)

Love this! A couple years back (has it really been that long?) 52Teas created a brown sugar grapefruit tea that I really liked. I’ve tried grapefruit teas by other companies, but typically found they didn’t really taste like grapefruit at all and were usually pretty bland or bitter.

This tea reminds me of that last one that 52Teas created except it is made with an oolong base instead of white and has a touch of ginger. The ginger is brilliant. And, like the one before, it really tastes like sugared grapefruit. But, what really shines is the base. The oolong base is really nice. There is that slight mineral taste and perfectly smooth profile. Absolutely no bitterness. Wonderful!

drank Spiced Blackberry Citrus by 52teas

This makes a great morning warm cup of tea. When I drink this, I get a berry juiciness (that I wouldn’t be able to pin as blackberry) and a slight spiciness. I love cinnamon and this has a light savory cinnamon taste. I’m enjoying this.

drank Cashew Turtle by 52teas

Yummy chocolate, caramel, and creamy nuttiness. This is one of my favorite teas. I loved the original version that was created several years ago. And, I’m surprised to see that I never reviewed it. I specifically asked for this to be reblended as part of the Kickstarter for the 52Teas Reboot. I’m so glad I did. I can’t easily compare this to the original blend, but I remember really liking the creamy caramel and nutty flavor of the original and that’s what I like most about this reblend as well. The flavors really shine when it has cooled a bit but is still warm. I think this reblend may be a little more chocolaty than the original, but it’s hard to say. The chocolate is definitely there even though this isn’t really a chocolate tea. It’s the creamy caramel and cashew that shine. Cashew is my favorite nutty flavor in tea. I could just drink this all day. Sometimes with almond flavors there is something cloying about the flavor that while I “like” it, I really can’t have more than one cup in a sitting. And caramel teas are so hit or miss for me. This one pulls it off perfectly.

I really love the soft ginger and yuzu flavors in this tea. I can even taste the cookie likeness though I find that cookie is very hard for me to taste in teas. I think that the white peony really helps with the cookie likeness since a good peony can have a bit of a nutty taste that often makes me think of cookies. And the best part is that there is no funky aftertaste. It is a delicious tea with great flavoring. All of the January teas have been really good.

drank Toffe Bar Chai by 52teas

I like chai teas, but I’m not really that discriminating. For me they typically fall into two categories: [can be drunk without milk and sugar], [too strong to drink without milk and sugar]. Sometimes I can tell apart other differences such as anise or vanilla, but mostly I just can’t. I prefer chais that can be enjoyed without milk and sugar.

This chai clearly falls into the first category and can be enjoyed without adding milk and sugar. It is on the mild side when it comes to spiciness and maybe has a hint of caramel if I’m looking to find it. I like it, and I am finding that the flavor is improving as it cools slightly.

drank Peach Cupcake Green Tea by 52teas

This tea has a really lovely peach flavor. The cupcake is really more of a sensation than an obvious flavor or a modifier of the peach flavor. It’s a bit like baked peaches. And the aftertaste, while short, is candied peaches. I expected this tea to be good, but I’m really liking it more than expected. I find my self wanting more of this one.

This sounds lovely. I hope 52teas has more peach teas on the horizon.

drank Mango Genmaicha by 52teas

I really like this tea. The aroma is wonderful. It brews up a really nice lime green and has a fruity mango taste on a slightly sweet green tea base. The base is really good. It is bright and slightly savory. I taste the genmaicha, but there is a healthy portion of green tea and matcha. The toasted rice flavor is much more subdued than I’m used to in genmaicha. I love this base and can’t wait to try other teas with this base.
