So I’ve had the worst head cold the past few days so I havent really been feeling up to drinking anything hot other than, well, Neocitran. I found this in my cupboard the other day so I decided to make an iced tea today – there aren’t many I like iced so this was a pleasant surprise.
So this is really nice cold – the root beer flavour is really present, even the bite you get from the soda which is what I really like. Since a root beer float is root beer and ice cream… I decided to either make this great or gross: I added a tablespoon of coffee creamer and it was surprisingly delicious! And soothing on my sore throat. Just wish I had more of this.. only a couple cups worth left :(

I understand the appeal of this tea, and in theory – looking at the ingredients I should love it. But I don’t. I mean, it is nice – I get a subtle coconut flavour and a bit of vanilla and rum, but it just tastes artificial to me. I thought it might have been the way I steeped it but this is my fourth or fifth cup and it still doesn’t appeal to me. I’d have another cup if it was offered to me, but it’s not a tea I’d go to.

This tea smells sicky to me :S

Oi. I bought this tea back when Teavana had their 50% off and free shipping sale, so 3.99 for 50g of tea seemed like a pretty good deal. This tea.. isn’t bad. I steeped it for a good 15 minutes and it seemed like a good time because I think anything less and I wouldn’t have gotten much flavour at all. MAN this tea is sweet. I’m not really a fan of chocolate teas – I haven’t found one yet that suits me, and it isn’t even that prominent.
This tea is really confusing me, hahaha I don’t know how to explain it.
Anyways, I made it into a latte after and the milk kind of cuts the sweetness so I definitely prefer it this way. Yeah – weird tea, this one.

Mmm funny, this one was one that I initially didn’t like but as I drink it more, I like it much more. This one is nice on it’s own but I think the mint and the black tea lends itself well to a bit of milk and sugar.
The holidays may be over but I’ve got enough of this lovely holiday tea to last me for a few months! (yay)

The smell from this tea is pretty potent, maybe due to the whole cloves (but I love cloves, so I am pretty okay with it), the actual tea is much less spicy and I do get a subtle vanilla taste – not as much as I’d want but still nice. Not the best chai I’ve had but better than the vanilla chai from Davids!

drank Coconut Cream Pie by 52teas

I bought two packs of this tea because I am on the hunt for the perfect coconut tea and the reviews here were so great that I figured I’d like it and need at least two.
So.. this tea is nice, but it isnt great. The directions did say 3-5 minutes and I steeped this for 5 minutes so I guess on the end of that guideline but this tea tasted a little bitter and the coconut wasn’t the first flavour I tasted. I had to add sugar for that taste to go away and once i added a bit of half and half it actually started to have the coconut cream pie flavour. So it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the coconut tea I’ve been looking for.

Another bonus from teapartyfortwo
Not sure what I expected from this tea, but I should have expected exactly what I got – cinnamon. I guess I expected something like a chai but it isn’t spicy, it’s like a sweet cinnamon water. I’m not explaining it very well but I really did like it! I overstepped this one by like 15 minutes – I was applying for an internship this summer and got caught up it in but it was still really nice! added some milk like I do to my chais and a tsp of sugar and it tasted like a non sickly sweet cinnamon bun! A pleasant surprise!
Edit: re steeped to see if it’d be any good and it’s just as flavourful! I actually prefer this cup because it’s actually hot, having not forgotten it :P
Edit Edit: If anyone has this tea and doesnt like it, I totally accept donations, hahaha – it is impossible to find where I live and costs a FORTUNE to ship!
(For anyone wondering? Didn’t get the internship… sadness)

Flavors: Cinnamon

I never thought about trying this with milk, going to try that tomorrow!

This was a very dangerous tea for me to only have a sample of. (Thank you teapartyfortwo for being so generous!)
This tea is pretty amazing. I’ve had many lemon teas before and this is my favourite one. The lemon is sweet, but not too sweet. Not bitter like a lemonade kind of taste at all. Very delicate but not subtle. Oh gosh, I am so sad that I will never be able to get any more of this one.
I will admittedly say that I underleafed this one in order to get more out of what I had but I steeped it for an extra 3-4 minutes and it doesn’t taste weak at all. It actually was perfect because it cooled to the perfect temperature to enjoy right away. At the second half of the cup I put in a half a tsp of sugar and it brought out the lemon flavour even more.
And that smell. Amazing.

Anlina

I haven’t tried this, so I can’t compare, but if you’re looking for a really lovely sweet lemon tea, Cornelia Bean’s Creamy Lemon green and Tealish’s Lemon Meringue rooibos are both excellent.

Jason

Great review! I couldn’t agree more!

EmilyGee

Anlina, I’m going to have to go on a tea spree on pay day with all of your suggestions!!

Megan Low

Mmm lemon tea! The name sounds good, sad that Butiki is closing just as I discovered it. However I’m liking the sound of Anlina’s suggestion of lemon meringue rooibos!

DeliriumsFrogs

I just wrote down Anlina’s suggestions, as well (saved them to my wishlist)… I loved this Butiki tea, so finding something like it would be fantastic. And is there anything better than creamy lemon? mmmmm Thanks, Anlina!

Oh no.
I wanted so badly to like this tea. Maybe the reviews here and the idea of a “milk oolong” just built up in my mind and lead to disappointment. To be honest, it’s probably just my unrefined tastes at work here – but still – I really wanted this to be so good. I totally get the creamy/buttery taste and feel of this tea, but perhaps if it weren’t for the bad smell I was getting off of it I might’ve been able to enjoy it more. I drank half my cup and couldnt really finish the rest. Not so much because I found it so gross, but it was just too much – too much of something I can’t put my finger on. Richness? Anyways. No dice for this tea and me.
I hope that one day I will either be able to appreciate this tea/find one that I really do like.

Out of all the milk oolongs I’ve tried, this one is my least favourite. Don’t write off milk oolongs yet – try another and see if you find it any better.

EmilyGee

Thanks I’ll keep that in mind! I can see why people like it, but this one just isn’t for me. The search for a milk oolong I like continues! :)

Anlina

What-cha’s is excellent and very well priced. It’s a bit more complex and floral than some other milk oolongs I’ve had. I also really like Cornelia Bean’s though it’s expensive ($38/100g?)

EmilyGee

Thank you! I’ll try and get my hands on some of those!

M

I had this as part of the advent calendar, and didn’t like it at all either. The reviews led me to believe it would be magical.

Ooooh yay!
This was the Tea of the Day at DT today and so I bought a full sized cup. The small sample was pretty weak but a nice hot cup with the smidgiest of smidges of honey brought out the really nice coconut flavour of this tea and – what I’m assuming is mullberries (I’ve never had them ) but if that’s what I’m tasting then they’re very nice! I also bought some of their milk oolong so once I taste that one I’ll decide on which I want to use my free 50g on!
