It was a writing afternoon. I was keyed up, needed to even out. Needed fruity, minty, grassy, earthy. Got it, and how.

Udon noddles for lunch, spicy and starchy. Bring on the genmaicha! And I didn’t brew it too long, so it was finally evenly balanced, not too toasty, not too astringent. Goldilocks, just right. Take that, Tuesday!

A perfectly fine bag tea served at a restaurant this morning with a pot of tepid tap water. Boo. I’m going to volunteer to be this place’s tea sommelier.

drank Oolong tea by Pokka

Eating sushi at the office, al desko. I am both thrilled and horrified by the notion of oolong, cold and in a can. Then again, the simple enjoyment of this is what reminds me not to become a tea snob. It ain’t sweetened, and it ain’t soda. Huzzah!

Sweltering day, padding around in my linens at last, on house arrest on call for work. Refusing to turn on the A/C — why start now? — I pour a pot of this hot tea with cool cardamom. It’s pretty poor quality tea, but the spice is a great touch.

Long day. My better half ran a half marathon this morning. Up at dawn, rah rah rah, naptime, now feeling foggy. Could’ve reached for something black and bracing, but the sunny breezy day felt so summery, and the white tea tastes like summer.

Cooling and calming down with some pep-o-mint tonight. Early morning tomorrow to cheer the spouse through a half marathon. Gonna need some strong black tea at 5 a.m. …

I finally brought my fallback tea to the office. Today’s a quiet today, as I fill in for someone who has a quieter job. Ahhhh. Maybe I want the quieter job. Hmmm. Something to think about over a cup of tea …

Last night I prepared a Moroccan feast — meat pies, carrots, gazelle horns, etc. — and served this with dessert. I hadn’t thought of cardamom with tea. Used to drink it with Lebanese coffee in Manhattan all the time. It’s a nice not-quite-chai flavor. Great after dinner.

Beautiful cool morning, glorious hot cuppa. Been on the road for several days. Happy to be padding around the kitchen in bare feet.
