I loved this tea! I bought it during the 2012 Heavenly Sale only 2oz to make sure I liked it and then never got around to buying it again. Now I find out this tea is being discontinued! I did buy 4 more oz but still sad this tea is going. The berries are what really shows up in this tea, the basil gives it a slightly savory taste, but it makes the tea. Ah, well, only the good die young…

I got to try this tea from the travelling tea box, Canadian edition.

Dry Leaf: Strawberry chunks, white tea leaves, flowers is all just a punch of color. This tea smells super fruity and slightly citrus-y. It is almost like fruit punch and has a sweet scent.

Steeped: Scent is more sour when the I poured the hot water into my teapot. The water has a nice light pink color. The taste of this tea was pretty sour.

To counter the sourness, I added a bit of honey, which kind of made it taste better. I think I would have better appreciated this tea if there was more of a sweet component.

I some how became the owner of a large amount of this tea when it was discontinued this fall. I made a small purchase and they put probably 6oz of this and Golden Mojito into my bag. Tonight I was looking for something light and something to curb my sweet tooth so this seemed like a good choice. It is okay. Not great, not something I will crave, but nice and light and berry. I get none of the basil, which I am kinda sad about. I really like basil berry ice cream so when I read the name that is what I thought about. This might make a good blender for ice tea in the summer? (2 tsp /8 oz)

It’s iced tea season…. Yay!

I bought this in December when they had the 75% off sale.
Finally decided to try this. Flash iced this.

The smell both dry & steeped is lightly berry & herbaley.
Taste wise it’s much the same lightly flavoured, a touch sweet & herb tasting.
It’s not great, but it’s good. Definitely enjoy this one. I do get a touch of bitterness, I think my water was too hot & some metallic taste near the end of the sip.

The smell is rather…different…but I decided I’d give it a whirl anyways. Boy, the flavor is a lot better than the aroma! Deep rich red color, first time I made it was slightly tart and tangy—needed some rock sugar. But I’ve made it a few more times since and it hasn’t been that bad. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but it’s not terrible.

I didn’t think Basil belonged in tea, but I was wrong. I really liked it. Definitely better iced because it’s so fruity.

Great Canadian TTB

This sounded interesting and despite it being a Teavana tea and I have a hatred for Teavana, I decided to give it a try. It is actually quite nice although given the giant piece of orange peel, I imagine this can get citrusy depending on the scoop. Also, I am getting mostly strawberry and very little basil. Thank you Jeweled Thumb for including it as it was fun to try but I think I will be satisfied with just the one cup.

I suppose that my evaluations of Teavana teas—as of all things—are all relative. Compared to several other of the blends I’ve tried, Berry Basil Blast is pretty good. I have to confess, however, now that I am polishing off the envelope, I won’t be repurchasing this tea. Tonight’s batch felt more like an assignment than a pleasure to imbibe.

The flavor is sort of half-way between an herbal hibiscus infusion and a more savory blend. I don’t find the basil very strong, but overall Berry Basil Blast is just potable, not really something I have any desire to experience again.
