Tea Revv Advent Calendar – Day 17

(originally written November 17th)

Continuing on with my tea advent-ure!

This one sounds good – I love pancakes. But I’m not expecting much, as I’ve been disappointed by pancakey teas in the past, plus I’m not generally impressed by these Tea Revv blends.

Yeah, this is mostly just a plain black tea. There’s perhaps a little bit of caramel or vanilla, but definitely not pancakes. The base tea is actually somewhat bitter, even with a 3-minute steep. It’s quite earthy and mineral, with a bit of astringency

Very meh.

This definitely has maple in it, but it isn’t a gross or overwhelming maple – it’s just enough to give you that pancake feeling. I can find the jasmine in it if I try, but whether it was just my sample or no, I don’t find it strong at all. I don’t like this enough to buy more of it, but I wouldn’t be upset if I had more.

Sipdown (276)

So there is a lot of maple here and I can get behind that. What I can’t get behind is the jasmine. I find it hits you in the back of the throat and just seems out of place in this otherwise pancakey tea. It’s a brisk breakfast tea and it captures its namesake but why the jasmine?

Arby

Jasmine and maple? WHY? Way to ruin a perfectly good maple breakfast tea.

VariaTEA

Yeah, seemed like a bad plan

Nattie

Such a weird choice! Who has jasmine on pancakes??
