From Stash Tea

Our Chocolate Hazelnut is a deliciously smooth and rich dessert tea. Chocolate, hazelnuts, vanilla, and premium black tea combine to create a fascinating blend of flavors. Sugar and a splash of milk bring out the taste of the chocolate and hazelnuts. The black teas are naturally decaffeinated, so you can savor this tea any time of day.

Ingredients: Decaf black tea, natural flavor of chocolate, natural flavor of vanilla nut, natural flavor of hazelnut. Contains peanuts and hazelnuts.

BAD. Like…Dirty Dish Water with a hint of Hazelnut…cheap, fake hazelnut flavoring, that is…

Wow… LOL I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rating of “5” on here before.

LiberTEAS, One time MeghannM put a four on some tea I think it was pear flavored and I totally LOL when I saw 4!

That’s not to say I don’t believe MeghannM when she gave it a 4 because I totally do trust her palate!! It’s just made me laugh.

Ouch! I almost want to try this now to experience the horror. I must check to see if it was part of my free sampler. Mwahahahaaaa!

SoccerMom: I had to go visit MeghannM’s tasting notes to see which pear tea it was that she rated so low…. LOL because I used to have a pear tea (which I loved) and I would have been crushed to find it was mine. Fortunately, it was not. :)

While there, I noticed that she also rated the Thai Tea from Teavana quite low, and I really enjoyed this blend… certainly not my favorite blend from Teavana (although I’m not sure what that would be at the moment… probably the Blanco White Pearls?) but I really do enjoy the Thai tea as an iced tea, served with a bit of sweetened condensed milk – similar to the way they serve it in Thai restaurants. I drank that by the gallon last summer!

LiberTEAS, I think I’ll have to try it with condensed milk as you mentioned. I am in love with Zingiber Ginger Coconut from Teavana at the moment :)

Dirty dishwater with a hint of hazel nut. Bwahahahaha!

LiberTEAs – It’s VERY rare when I rate LOW at all…lol…it does happen tho…I have seen others rate lots of stuff low tho…

Rabs – Perhaps I received a ‘bad bag’ – let me know if you have any more luck!

Had a nice cup this last night while watching tv…this is quickly becoming a nightly staple! Glad I grabbed a 100 count box from amazon :)

Would you consider a swap? I really want to try this, but can’t find it locally, and I am not ready to jump into a 100 bag box. I would love a few, and would gladly offer a few samples from my cupboard in return.

Yeah sure! I know how you feel – I only was able to try this tea via a swap and then I decided I liked it enough to buy the huge box. Send me a PM.

This tea is courtesy of the amazing Missb! Thank you!

It smells rather good, but to be honest the chocolate flavour falls completely flat. It ends up tasting more like paper or…stale? Like very stale chocolate? Kinda feels like I’m drinking a cardboard box. :( I’m getting a slight hint of sweet and nutty from a fake hazelnut flavour, but there’s very little depth to the tea overall. Mostly I just taste stale paper. Nope.

I think DavidsTea has the only chocolate tea blends I can drink. Anything else tastes like the super cheap hot cocoa that is like someone dipped a hershey bar into hot water just ever so slightly.

I have no idea if that made sense but yea.

I’ve also had good experiences with Della Terra’s chocolate teas. And a couple of the ones from Teavana aren’t bad – Slimful Chocolate Decadence being one of them. But yeah, Davids tends to have the best of the best!

I still need to try della. One of these days I’ll bite. I was going to place an order recently but then Davids announced their cherry blossom tea is coming back.

Definitely try DTT! They are wonderful :) You won’t be disappointed with Dubbele Chocolade in particular if you like really deeply chocolatey teas.

Tea of the evening…..

This one is not so bad for bagged tea. It will never be among my favorites, but I like it for what it is….decaf dessert black tea that is missing that metally taste that decaf teas sometimes have….

24 oz pot, 3 bags, freshly boiled water, 3 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Meh. I can’t stand mild teas that come in tea bags unless they are those larger, triangular kinds. For some reason, I can taste the starch or glue or paper material. YUCK! The hint of chocolate and very very minimal hazelnut was all I could detect with the starch. I added sugar, which helped a tiny bit. I drank this one fast… really fast. Needless to say, I am not going to be purchasing this tea in the future. I am thankful for the sample though.

Chocolate! I want chocolate! I have come home with a hankering and a craving.
I’ve largely given up on Chocolate teas, but I have this, from my sisters 12 days of christmas present to me.
Ehhhh. Its a bit watery, even though I went to the upper end of the steep perameters (I did it for 5 minutes), and while there is a faint coco flavor, I cant say I’m getting any of the hazelnut.
As it cools I get the teensiest bit of hazelnut, but unfortunatly it seems bitter.
Well, it was nice to try, but I cant really get behind this.

The chocolate and hazelnut flavors are sweet, but don’t taste as natural or complex as Harney & Sons Florence (my only other choc/hazelnut reference). Then again this is a decaf tea, which sometimes makes a tea bit “flat.” It’s also a bagged tea, so a comparison to Florence is unfair on many levels, I know.

Tastes a bit bitter even though I used the midpoint for brewing time. I took a couple sips and immediately added a splash of half and half to try to smooth it out.

Overall, it’s ok but not great. Probably forgettable, but I was craving this flavor combo and decaf is the way to go this late. I probably shouldn’t even be drinking chocolate!

I’m actually getting a weird aftertaste from this tea, almost chemically? It was a bag I rec’d in a swap so no idea how old it is, etc.

How exactly good is the Florence? People have been raving about them!

I had it at a tea house last weekend and drank the whole pot (probably 2 cups). I’ve been thinking about it ever since and counting the days until I can buy some (I don’t really have a “tea budget” but I went way over it this month!)

I’ve had better teas.. but I actually liked this,, I’m not a big fan of tea bags.. but honestly I didn’t think I’d be drinking it down! It was alright, next time I’ll add almond milk.

Not bad, though certainly not my favourite. Good for when I want black tea late at night, but needs far more sugar than I’m willing to use to bring out the flavour.

if you still have the box would you be willing to share just a sample? :)

The flavour is a bit flat, but otherwise a decent tea.
