Great matcha base (not too bitter), lots of milk flavour, creamy, a bit nutty, lots of matcha tastiness.

Butterscotch wasn’t as strong as I was expecting, but it did give a buttery smooth cream flavour, which went really well in my soy matcha latte.

I had a sample of this and prepared it the same way I did the Belgium Chocolate one.

*with a few ounces of hot water and whisked in a chawan
*stirred with a few tablespoons of cold water and topped with cold, unsweetened cashew milk
*stirred with a few tablespoons of hot water and topped with hot, unsweetened cashew milk

I added sweetener to all three preparations. Again, as with the chocolate one, I felt like it was strange to have a candy-like flavour without significant sweetness. I’d have to try these again with dairy milk, to see if that provides enough sweetness on its own.

I liked this a lot better than the chocolate and would consider restocking. The flavour is good, very butterscotch-y. The matcha is a bit bitter, but not unpleasantly so.

This one has been on my personal wishlist for a while and I was very excited to get to try it recently. Like the others from the sampler, I made it in cashew milk.

The dry matcha smells very strongly of butterscotch; it reminds me of Butter Ripple Schnapps, which is a favourite drink of mine. It’s a little grassy too from the matcha itself.

This was very delightful; the butterscotch flavor really comes through and creates a sugary sweet drink that reminds me of melted down Butterscotch Ripple ice cream; it’s not nearly as boozy anymore so it’s reminding me less of Butter Ripple Schnapps. The mild nuttiness of the cashew milk compliments the sweetness very well also, and there’s a gentle vegetal note from the matcha itself – it’s not as grassy as the dry leaf smelled but it is present.

This one was very interesting and tasty and I’m really happy I finally got to try it. I imagine it would also work wonderfully in a hot latte as well – butterscotch is a very adaptable flavor. So far, this is my favourite of the matchas from this sampler that I’ve tried.

Sipdown…from the sil matcha bag I got. I did manage to make this one well, and I got some butterscoth sweetness, but it was not too stung. It was still tasty, but not a fave.

Thank you for the opportunity to try this, Sil! As everyone can see, I’m riding the matcha train this morning. Perhaps I should eat breakfast soon because all this matcha/caffeine on an empty stomach is making me feel a little nauseated.

I was wondering how this would compare to caramel, if it would basically be a less creamier version of it. Sort of? I do detect a classic hard candy note in here, and yes, there is less creaminess going on. Or rather, it has a less velvety texture.

I’m trying this hot with some 1% milk. I think the milk is drawing out the candy flavour a little more. It seems like too subtle of a flavour if you were to use this in a smoothie. But I’m oh so curious to see what it’ll do in a cold environment.

So much matcha!

I find matcha caffeine can really affect me, whereas my “normal” tea has almost no caffeine effect.

Fjellrev

Yeah, the only way caffeine can ever affect me is by making me feel like I’m hungover haha.

This one’s from Sil’s super matcha pack. 1 scoop, 8oz of almond milk, half a banana.

This was unfortunately not a hit with the two roommates. Roommate A said it was too sweet and then proceeded to guzzle down a huge mug of black coffee (she’s of that alliance). Roommate B said it tasted floral, almost like soap, and then asked for a cup of black coffee from Roommate A, which she added a lot of sugar to. It was a landslide win for the coffee party today.

Although I liked this more than the roommates I found it kind of sweet too. While I know what butterscotch hard candies are (roommates don’t) and I can taste it, I’m unfortunately not a fan of said candies. I think I’ll put this one aside when I’m feeling more inclined.
