Winter Nog

this tea smells almost too crazy!!
it’s super fun. glad i got this to try.

i’m so tired from the gym but i really need to shower. you know how it is.

My first Della Terra order arrived today! Everything looks lovely, certainly will not be my last. I decided to brew this one up tonight as I wanted to make sure I was going to be able to fall asleep early this evening. I was up late last night and I want to get lots of sleep before I have to get up early tomorrow.

I did not find the dry smell very attractive. But after the pungent-ness wears off, I could smell a hint of eggnog.

The brewed tea is a nice dark caramel colour. I added almond milk to enhance the experience and the flavours definitely allude to eggnoggy goodness. This is definitely a nice winter rooibos to have around. I like the flavour a lot.

I’m drinking a mason jar of this because I’m trying to sip down all my winter teas. It’s time to move on. i don’t mind snow, and I don’t mind the extreme cold because I bundle up well and don’t spend much time outside, but I’m sick of walking on ice/slush/snow covered sidewalks, and not being able to push the stroller around. J’s driving his car to York right now bc getting the stroller to the bus is just too much work unless we walk on the road and uh… that’s not safe. :P

So, let’s drink this down and welcome Spring!

This tea smells phenomenal. It was in my Black Friday Surprise Seasonal Box and I was leery at first. Egg nog is one of a handful of foods that I just CAN’T stand. I’m usually really good about not being picky with what I eat, but when I hate something I hate it.

When I opened the package of this I was immeditely releived that it didn’t smell like anything I don’t like about egg nog. It brewed up super dark and pretty, and hubby kept mentioning how he smelled blueberry when he drank it.

I’ve said before that Roobios is a tea that can go a bit ‘mulchy’ for me. And this one manages to get past it. Its lovely and smooth to drink, with something a bit fruity to the flavor. I’ll definitly finish the ounce that I have, but I doubt I’ll order more.

This was on my wish list and I was so glad I got to try a sample. Yummy! I added milk and sugar for a nice treat. I didn’t write this note while sipping so I am now unsure of how the spices worked. It was a very nice combo and I will be eying this to get some more.

The husband and I just made sushi for dinner, and now we’re lazing with a movie. We were craving something different and caffeine-free so we grabbed this out of the tea chest.

Steeped, this is quite… odd. There may be some eggnog spices, but this doesn’t scream eggnog to me. I taste maple syrup, cream, honey, and cinnamon. To my tastebuds, each sip feels a little sinful – I should be pouring this over pancakes, not drinking it!

I tried adding a dash of milk, and that did nothing to change the flavor. If anything, it makes me even more determined to make pancakes tomorrow morning, with a nice glass of milk to go with them.

As for the tea, this is not going to be a staple.

I was really hesitant to try this tea. I’m NOT an eggnog lover. Having read some of the other tasting notes on here, and most say it doesn’t really taste like eggnog, I put on a brave face and gave it a go. I’m really glad I did. This is good. It’s NOT eggnog but it is creamy, cinnamon, winterish, warm and comforting. Thumbs up.

I have a slight obsession with this tea for many reasons. And I had a cup in bed last night, which is why I’m posting my love for it.

1. The snowflake sprinkles are too cute. Like I’ve said, I have a weakness for the cute factor in teas.

2. It smells- and tastes- like vanilla frosting. Not the sticky sweet that hurts your stomach and your teeth though, like an indulgence that you can’t get enough of and don’t have to!

3. It’s caffeine free and I can’t taste the “medicinal” flavor that rooibos can often have. I can drink this in bed while I obsess over the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family and not worry that my heart will race, I won’t be able to sleep, or that it will upset my stomach if it’s empty.

4. Rooibos is known for settling an upset stomach and is recommended for after meals to aid digestion…what better way to aid digestion than an amazing DESSERT flavored tea? It’s like getting 2 for 1, dessert and your food settled…and no calories.

I am now prompted to go order 4 more ounces of it while it’s on sale.

I tried this when I received it as a part of my black Friday order and wasn’t too impressed. It’s fragrance was a bit overly sweet to me.

This evening I went looking for something caffeine free since I’d already had enough today and grabbed this to give it another try. I have to say that I enjoyed it much more tonight. Maybe because I knew what to expect when I chose this one. Very sweet fragrance with a hint of spice & cream.. Not eggnog to me, but with a touch of sugar it tastes just like it smells… Which is nice. It does have a bit of an after taste, maybe it’s the rooibos, but it’s tolerable.

I think I’m starting to like this one now that I’ve come to know what to expect of it. I’m glad now that I kept it.

This is the first if the teas that I ordered from Della Terra on black Friday. I’ve never tried Della Terra or rooibos tea before. I’m on my second cup of this delicious tea. I’m glad the cinnamon isn’t overpowering. It’s creamy & has just the right amount of spice in it. I’m really enjoying it!
