I tried this early this morning after a mini, anxiety-inducing power outage at 4 am. As soon as the power returned at 745, I turned on the kettle and grabbed this sachet because I needed something sweet and indulgent.

It is nice, a bit of strawberry and a hint of cocoa… I liked it. Would I buy it again? Probably not but I am glad I tried it.

Iced latte today! I haven’t had this tea in such a long time… like 2 years. I’m pretty sure it was one of the last teas that I had in our store before our DT shut down due to c*vid.

This one has hibiscus, so normally you wouldn’t add milk because it was curdle. Well, the trick I’ve found is to chill the tea super super well before you add the milk. If it’s super cold, it seems to stop it from curdling.
I forgot about how good this one is. It really does taste like chocolate covered strawberries. I do wish I had added a bit of a sweetener to this one, as the tartness from the hibiscus is a little weird to me, and it’s got that stevia hint coming through too.
But the chocolate is so good and the strawberries are great. I need to enjoy this one this year for valentines day. It won’t take much for this stash to disappear.

From a Valentine’s sampler. The first thing I taste is beets, then tartness and a bit of roastiness. The flavor here is pretty weird for me. The tartness is strange and artificial. I’m not getting clear chocolate either. I’m glad that I only have the sampler quantity because this one doesn’t work for me at all.

I’m conflicted about this tea. Sometimes it smells/tastes deliciously like creamy, sweet candy strawberries, and other times it smells/tastes rotten. I blame the hibiscus, which is too bad – chocolate strawberry should be a fantastic combo. I think it’s best with a short infusion. I also wish it wasn’t sweetened. Stevia, yuck.

This tea has a lot of things I would usually hate in other teas. I am not one to want chocolate pieces in my cup and I usually avoid stevia because I don’t like the after taste. But something about this tea works for me. Its sweetness makes for a nice dessert tea, and the strawberry flavoring balances the smooth chocolate after taste. I loved this more than I thought!

Erghhhhhh….stevia. Why does DavidsTea keep ruining perfectly good blends with stevia? It seems so unnecessary. The blend of chocolate and tart strawberry was actually quite balanced, and I liked that it was a maté. However, I just couldn’t finish the cup because of the stevia.

This tea smells amazing out of the tin, and it looks pretty too (was a watery peach colour in the steeper but a deep raspberry colour in my cup). However, I wasn’t impressed by the flavour at first. After finishing the first cup, I ended up adding a splash of milk and some rock sugar to my steeper, and then I let my second cup cool off. The flavour greatly improved after that, hence my high rating. All signs point to Chocolate Covered Strawberry tasting better cold/iced.

I’m surprised that others find this tea too sweet, because I want it to be sweeter. After reading another review, I actually do want to compare this to Love Tea #7, but unfortunately I can’t recall that flavour right now – and I thought I still had some on my shelf, but was sadly mistaken. I am certain that I don’t love this tea as much as White Chocolate Rose, which is something I wished that DAVIDsTEA had brought back this year for Valentine’s Day, but…maybe next year? Fingers crossed.

Delicious afternoon tea. The hibiscus notes are strong, so are the strawberry notes. There is also an unctuous feel of milk / perhaps chocolate? But I could honestly say that I did not taste a full-on chocolate taste in my cup. One sour note (so to speak) the sweetness brought on by the stevia is a little too strong. I wish there was less stevia in this tea. Otherwise, a delightful delicious afternoon tea.

Morning cuppa – Strawberry Day was the perfect excuse to pull out this tin and dip into my stash. My tin of this tea is pretty old at this point – it’s actually from before the tea officially launched (work perk!) the first time, so a few years old. The strawberries in it are so ages now that they kind of look more grey than red. I wasn’t sure if it would still taste okay, but it did steep out just fine – albeit oily from the melted chocolate.

Just a nice sweet cup with a lot of chocolate density in the body but more of a tart hibiscus and juicy strawberry to the top of the sip. Yummy. That said, I know we have a fresh batch of this at work from this past Valentine’s Day, so maybe it’s time to take home a new bag of it to replace what’s in my tin right now.
