From DAVIDsTEA

Game on

This tea isn’t like a chess game of black versus white, it’s black and white working together. When you mix white Bai Mu Dan with black tea, coconut and chamomile flowers, it creates a rich, satisfying, chocolate flavour. You’ll swear you’re drinking a cup of hot cocoa, even though there’s no chocolate in the blend. It’s so delicious it’ll hold any king or queen in check – now that’s a winning move any way you look at it.

Well, it’s certainly not like a cup of hot cocoa, as DavidsTea claims. :P That’s okay, though, because it’s light, sweet, and smooth (thanks to the coconut), but a fairly unique tea thanks to the blend of black and white. Tasty.

This tea is generally a comforting cuppa for me. As long as its steeped correctly. I’m not sure whether it has that hot cocoa taste to it, but it might have a hint of it. This is one blend that has coconut, but I surprisingly love. The coconut doesn’t stand out, it’s more of that white/black tea blend and I’m guessing the Roman chamomile in it. All together makes for a lovely tea.

I did not like this tea hot but iced wasn’t too shabby.

Sipdown (192/196)!

Hooray for sipdown progress!

So, I grossly oversteeped this one. I set it up and had it steeping but was feeling icky and crampy so I sat down for what I told myself would just be “a few minutes” but I just distracted by a few things including a metric fuck ton of FB notifications, albeit delightful ones ;) Around 15 minutes later I remembered the tea! Oh no! I was sure it would be nasty and gross.

But, surprisingly, this is every bit as lovely as it was yesterday: light, buttery coconut and a pleasant black/white base combo with a really soothing affect. Now I’m even more crushed this is a sipdown and a discontinued blend. Obviously it can hold up quite well to some pretty significant user error, and that’s impressive.

With that new knowledge I’m increasing my rating a bit.

geee FB notifications hmm that’s straaaaaange… ROSWELL STRANGE!

Interesting tea. I like the coconutty taste….the combination does seem to give the impression that there is cocoa in there.

Would I get a bag? I think I would seriously consider it if I could find it on the website. I really wish David’s Tea would have an area on the site that lists all the discontinued or seasonal teas.

This tea does smells like chocolate, but it doesn’t taste like hot chocolate. It’s smooth, not very sweet, and totally forgettable. I was really hoping I’d like this.

I’ll try again later with milk and sugar.

Checkmate is a mix of white and black tea with Roman chamomile flowers. Did I mention that I love finding flowers in my tea? WELL YEAH I REALLY DO IT’S THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY. (I’m not being sarcastic)

I keep reading on the bag that is is supposed to taste like hot cocoa, which I guess is true. It is “cleaner” than hot cocoa and less creamy. It does however mimic a slight chocolaty taste, I’ll give it credit for that.

Totally worth trying! I really recommend it. (especially if you are as crazy about flowers as I am ;) )

Third tea I’ve tried from the Tiny Tea pack. This is the white tea offering but it is blended with black tea. The smell of this tea is really great but not strong or overpowering. The taste is also very nice, a rich nut flavor. Tried a second cup with a dash of milk because of the black tea content, it didn’t really need it and I preferred it plain.
