From DAVIDsTEA

Delicately floral, with a sweet seductive aroma, this jasmine green tea is perfection. Handpicked tea leaves from the Fujian region in China are layered with fresh jasmine petals for a sweet floral aroma, then shaped into pretty little butterflies that unfurl as they steep. It’s a rare reserve green tea that might be the finest jasmine we’ve ever tasted. Treat yourself.

Ingredients: Chinese green tea from Fujian Province, scented with jasmine flowers.

Going nice and simple tonight. Wasn’t planning on going to DAVID’s again today, but there were accidents on both bridges today and as a result I couldn’t make it too Dartmouth for my dance class (boo) so we got tea instead.

This is a nice, sweet, grassy jasmine. Sort of like a mix of Bai Hao Yin Zhen and Dragon Pearls. I wouldn’t need it on hand all the time, but I might pick if up when I get through my current jasmine stash.

Love love love this tea. I got 150 grams of it with my frequent steeper points- Nearly $60 of tea for free!

Oh my god. On my first sip of this tea, I became speechless. This is how good it was. I really love jasmine teas and I decided to try this one with the free 50g I earned, because it is really pricey. The green tea base is really good and not bitter at all. The jasmine flavour is really present and overwhelming, but in a good way. It lingers on the tongue a long time after you drank it. Very relaxing. Better than silk dragon jasmine, which I like nonetheless. Also, you can steep it several times, until the leaves are completely unfolded, and the flavour remains strong and good.

Wow! This is the one I chose as a free bag with my Frequent Steeper points. I was hesitant because I don’t usually like green tea but this one is quite different. The jasmine scent is intense but not in an artificial way that makes me dizzy, and the green tea doesn’t taste bitter or fishy. It’s naturally sweet so no need for sugar. Re-steep well. I wish I could buy this again but it’s expensive… I will have to try the Dragon pearls and see if it’s much different.

Every sip tastes luxurious….and at $19.75/50 grams it had better. This is a pricy green tea (I traded in my Frequent Steeper points for it) but it is definitely one of the smoothest and tastiest jasmine green tears I have enjoyed. The first steep gives a darker yellow shade and it smells strongly of jasmine. However, the taste while floral is not over the top floral. The hand rolled bundles are adorable…but I don’t think they look like butterflies…

Wow, I’ve never reviewed this tea? I guess it’s been a while since I had it: probably since before I had steepster!

I’ve been trying to use up my collection and have been avoiding purchasing new teas because of that. However, I had a free 50 gram bag of tea from my frequent steeper points at DAVIDs so I wanted to use up that offer before it expired; thus I got myself this very expensive and amazing tea (but I controlled myself in not buying any other teas!).

The Jasmine flavour is the dominant taste with a light green tea taste following. In generally this tea is very “light” and its quite delicious and it’s so nice to sit and relax while having a cup. I’m going to try and avoid bringing it to work because I believe it’s a tea one must sit and enjoy fully and not mindlessly guzzle while at work.

Even though this tea is nearly $20/50 grams, it makes up for it by the fact you can steep the leaves multiple times without loosing much flavour since the bundles slowly unravel with each steep (usually I can get 2-3 steeps out of it).

I got this one with my DAVIDs rewards, too (and the Grand Cru matcha). I basically just went for the most expensive teas that I wouldn’t spend the money on otherwise, and this ended up being a great choice.

I also usually get matcha with DAVID’s rewards too. However, the only time I ever use matcha is blended in with my morning smoothie and even so I’ve been trying to cut down on caffeine so I decided to stop doing that for the time being (unless I REALLY need a boost). I think this tea is pretty light on caffeine so I don’t mind having a cup of it :).

I haven’t been buying a lot of tea lately (as I mentioned) so I wonder if I’ll even get any rewards next quarter. I haven’t been trying really any of DAVID’s new or seasonal teas because they usually have artificial flavouring, candy and/or fruit bits and I’ve been getting out of those kinds of tea.

CelticBrew

Alright you’ve convinced me :) I will try this next time I get my free bag to redeem!

Kristal

Yay! I look forward to your review :)

Very light, very sweet, very jasmine-y and very expensive, LOL. I only have this because I used some of my free tea allowance from the Frequent Steeper program because that is the only way I am ever going to be able to afford any substantial amount of this. This is one of the best jasmine greens I’ve ever had, but due to the price, it’s sadly one I cannot keep a large stash of.

Ost

Haha I did the same thing! This was the first tea I got when I was able to redeem my points! XD

And I may do it again when the next round of points is released, as I am sadly down to only having enough for one more cup!

Ooh this is delightful. I love the fragrance of this. The dry leaf mostly has jasmine coming through, but steeped, there’s another intense floral note that is almost dewy. I want to say lilac and peony, though I can’t be sure.

Steeped this is light and jasminey, and some of that dewy quality comes through in the flavour as well.

I oversteeped my second and third steep every so slightly (45 seconds each), and so there’s a hint of astringency and an umami note that lingers on the finish, which was not present on the first steep. Fourth steep I did for shorter and added to the rest of my third steep, and the fifth I did with cooler water and shorter time, but I think these leaves are just about spent.

Definitely more complex than other jasmine greens I’ve had, and vaguely reminiscent of the jasmine teas I have which have additional sweet or fruit flavours.

This is by far my favourite tea from DAVIDsTEA and I highly doubt any tea from this company will beat it. When I got this tea from the wonderful tea guide in the store, I just couldn’t wait to let it steep a little longer. I had to take a sip. At first, the green notes were strong and the jasmine was okay for my taste. But after I let it cool a little bit, the jasmine starts to become more intense, which is GREAT since I love jasmine in green tea. The tea guide told me that this tea can be steeped multiple times, and it did last quite well. I was able to get 5 nice steeps out of it and it was a great experiment sipping down different steeps and trying to experience how different flavour develop in each.
