Dammann Frères Advent Day 11 (11-February 2021)

The dry scent here is very banana — I hope that translates into the flavour!

The banana flavour does come through, but much more subtly. I’m quite enjoying this. The green base complements nicely.

Advent Calendar – Day 11. Continuing in my attempt to catch up on my advent calendar… I actually own this one and I have been making my way through it for the past year when I went on a green tea rampage in an attempt to switch loving green tea instead of black. It didn’t happen. I still love black tea. But I did find several green teas I fell in love with. I want to love this tea. I do. And every time I reach for it, I hope with all my heart that I will fall in love with it. It just sounds so fun. Apples, bananas, pineapple and lime… what’s not to love? (banana actually :p but let’s forget about that. I don’t mind the banana at all in California) But somehow this combination never works for me. I get green apple and lime in terms of smell, but the tastes are just blah when they’re all blended together. It taste maybe too flat for me. Way less fun than it sounded. Too "green apple’ and less “exotic cocktail” than I keep hoping for. It’s a pass for me, but funnily enough my daughter loves that one.

Flavors: Green Apple, Lime

I agree, this was underwhelming. I do love some of their other green teas though, like Miss Dammann and Enjoy Summer. I also have Happy Green that I haven’t tried yet, but it smells amazing!

Dammann Frères Advent Calendar – Day 11 (from November backlog)

Ooh, I’ve never heard of this one before! Apparently it’s a green tea with apple, banana, and pineapple which sounds lovely. Dry, the banana is definitely the strongest aroma.

…hmm. This is not what I expected. I pretty much only taste banana out of the flavors listed, and really it comes off almost bubblegum-y. The base tea is mellow with a dry grassy flavor. I think I taste a little hint of tart green apple at the end of the sip?

But mostly it just tastes like a bland green tea with some weird banana bubblegum flavor. :(

Advent 11.

Alright, Cameron B., I was hoping you wouldn’t wait until the end of the day!

I was a little distracted and ended up chugging two steeps of this while getting ready for work. I remember banana kinda candy-like, I remember lime oil. Delicately grassy-grass seed-mineral green tea base carried those flavors well and blended smoothly with a very subtle green apple flavor. Second steep was thick, tasted more pineapple-lime oil than banana and had a buttery finish. I was expecting mild retching from the banana, but I really enjoyed it! I guess my aversion to banana is only in ripe fruit form and banana flavored candy. Baked goods and teas I can handle easily. I was surprised by the subtlety of this tea. It drank like a breeze.

I usually try to wait since I don’t want to spoiler it for other people accidentally. XD
