From Butiki Teas

This delicate tea pairs our lovely Organic Silver Needle with vibrant amaranth petals and a natural watermelon flavor. We highly recommend drinking this tea warm or with sugar to bring out the natural watermelon flavor. At a high temperature the flavor is not as strong. At a warm temperature, this tea is light and refreshing and starts out with floral and honey notes that quickly develop into juicy watermelon notes that linger. Add a little sugar and the tea bursts with a natural juiciness that tastes like fresh watermelon juice and finishes with floral and honey notes. This batch of Watermelon Xylophone is offered at a reduced rate, since we will be using a new Organic Silver Needle that is more expensive for future batches. For information on how we named this tea, check out our blog: http://butikiteas.blogspot.com/2012/08/behind-name-watermelon-xylophone-edition.html

Ingredients: Organic Silver Needle, Amaranth, Organic Watermelon Natural Flavoring

I’ve read several reviews of this one and it sounded good. I haven’t had much luck with watermelon teas, its a hard thing to duplicate since it has such a delicate flavor. The only other one I’ve had was the Watermelon Mint Chiller from Teavana. Not a favorite.
This one has a delicate watermelon flavor that I am really enjoying. The Teavana watermelon was an iced/cold brewed tea and maybe I under leafed it. This one I only had enough for a cup of hot tea. I’d like to get some more and try it as a cold brew. It might bring out the watermelon even more. I really think I will order this one.

I’ve been quite impressed with the Butiki flavored teas for the most part. Stacy is an amazing tea blender.

Delicious watermelon tea for dessert with some chocolate after singing on stage with a wonderful music hero tonight! Excellent well.

I sure hope I sleep better tonight after last night’s awful one. I blame that big mug of black tea (and maybe nerves about today). Gotta stop doing that.

I’m smashing through Teen Wolf, too. I’m three episodes away from finishing S2 and I only started a week ago. Eep!

In other news I’m quite unhappy about this weird rash on my arm. Saw the doctor this morning and she was a little baffled by it but suspects shingles. Boo.

I watched 8 seasons of Supernatural in 5 weeks. So I feel you!

It’s the best way to watch TV, in my opinion. But also the biggest crush on your social life… what are friendships, anyway?

My last old Butiki tea sample to sip down!

I wasn’t sure what to expect here.

Turns out, it’s quite a pleasant tea, and I enjoyed my cup of it very much.
I can taste the watermelon in a lovely subtle way, (as per the usual for Butiki teas – nothing overpowering or fake tasting).

I’d had a sample of Cantaloupe&Cream yesterday, which I think I enjoyed quite a bit more than this, I’m attributing that to the cream aspect which is a quality I really like to see in light, fruity tea blends.

So, to sum up: I’m not big on cantaloupes and I love watermelons but I’d buy butiki’s C&C tea and not the watermelon xylophone :)

Sipdown!

Oh my gosh I’m so scared to burn this tea okay. Like I always have bad luck with white teas because I’m afraid that the water would be too hot and I’d see the scorch marks on the leaves and usually when that happens, I just brush it off, but I’ve been wanting to try this tea for the longest time and I got a wonderful sample from MissB but the thing is, I’ve only got one cup of this and I really don’t wanna ruin it!
Okay. Here it goes. My kettle has been sitting for a good five minutes now so hopefully that’s enough time?
Dude. It smells so good! Not overkill on the watermelon, which is great. It smells so nice and bright and wonderful. MissB highly recommended me to sweeten it so when it’s done steeping, I’ve got some agave right next to me and I’ll just play around a bit :)

Hmm.. It tastes more like warm water with a bit of fragrance. I think my water was a bit too cool! Ahh well, looks like I’ll just have to make a purchase with Butiki sometime in the future and grab some of this :) It is a wonderful tea, but I know I definitely didn’t make it correctly on the first try. Maybe hotter and less water, or hotter water, more leaves. Gotta remember that for next time!

I’d probably go with more leaves with the cooler water, but I haven’t tried this tea before.

Last tea review of the night….seriously thinking of heading to bed, I’m tired…funny because I didn’t do a whole lot other then drink tea, (Which I’m not regretting, but am regretting not getting to other stuff I was supposed to do. Ahh well.)

This tea is good, but can’t see myself getting it again. I plan on saving it for summer to use for iced tea though. Compared to my really liking Pistachio Ice Cream and Potato Pancakes & Applesauce, I was really disappointed with this tea, but I guess that’s bound to happen some times, eh?

This one reminds me very much of Cantaloupe & Cream. The aftertaste is lovely- a very natural watermelon flavor. This would be nice iced in the summer.

This is one of the only flavored whites on my shelf, a rare indulgence! :)

I love this tea. The leaves are beautiful just to look at – this is my first time with higher quality loose leaf tea and I’m not used to such lovely, silvery leaves! The taste is very delicate – like a white tea made with fresh watermelon juice. Very refreshing and delicious – will definitely get this again.
