I have a song to dedicate to this tea… or that maybe the tea should dedicate to ME.

“You wanted more… more than I could handle… more than I could offer…”

I thought this was going to be amazing, a smooth, chocolately flavor mixed with tart raspberries, almost like candy in a cup.

But then it turned out to be just somewhat watery, strong on the black tea flavor, light on the chocolate-raspberry, which really just felt more like an accent or an aftertaste.

Now I do enjoy it – having a tea with a raspberry-chocolate aftertaste is lovely. But I would advise you to lower your expectations… expect a black tea, and come out with a fruity-chocolate flavor after your sip.

I tried it hot – will see what it’s like cold.

This smells exactly like a raspberry truffle. Sweet and juicy raspberry filling and dark chocolate shell. It’s mouth watering. Raspberry and dark chocolate is one of my favorite combinations. Once what the chocolate smell is more promo mate than the raspberry.

But sipping it, there’s a perfect balance between the raspberry and the chocolate. This is decadent, filling, sweet and satisfying. Delicious, I’m starting to understand the Butiki obsession! (;

It’s been like forever since I’ve posted. Life’s been busy. I was in Honolulu for work a week ago and when I got back, well, you know how things get backed up. By evening, I was too tired to write anything. I have, however, bought new tea, including Lupicia tea in Honolulu and I made a Butiki order! I think this is my third Butiki order since I’ve been on Steepster, and I am in heaven!! I finally got Hello Sweetie, which I had yesterday, and it’s awesome…will write a proper post later, but I also had this one this morning, and it’s also awesome!!! I think I was ignoring it before because it had chocolate, and chocolate teas have been hit or miss with me. I’m also not usually a fruity chocolate girl, but I have to say this tea changed my mind about that. This is delicious! The chocolate definitely comes through, and is a nice darker sort of chocolate, and the raspberry isn’t overpowering, but melds well with the chocolate. It reminds me of those yummy chocolates with raspberry jelly in the middle from Trader Joe’s. So good! And the resteep is just as good! I guess I should have tried this one a long time ago! I’ve missed out!! :)

Well this smells heavenly. Thanks again to Marzipan for sending this one to me!

Definitely a nice round black tea, whatever the base is on this one, I am lovin’ it. I don’t get a ton of raspberry flavor, I mostly just smell it. It is there for sure, just kind of subtle. I get most of the raspberry taste in the aftertaste. Kind of like a I just ate a nice piece of raspberry dark chocolate, which is totally appropriate! Yummy!

I haven’t been drinking near as much tea lately, but considering the air is FINALLY back on at work… that should change! I bought a few bagged teas to work today since my tea strainer I use at work is at home in need of a wash.

After my Caramel Vanilla Assam disappointment, I’m opting to try something the lovely mj1851 sent me :) I’ll say it time and time again: I don’t like chocolate and fruit together (except bananas, and maybe MAYBE strawberries). But you know what? I want dessert, and this is smelling pretty damn good right now.

mj1851 I love you. Thank you. OH THANK YOU, for this warm potion of raspberries , dark chocolate and perfectly assorted base! What I love about this is that it has that very specific real raspberry “zing”, it’s on the palate, in the middle and in my sinuses. Re-reading that sentence, I realize that that may not sound appealing, but it is! That feeling there that I get when I eat raspberries, well this has that (am I sounding cray-cray right now?)

I would not buy this, because of the whole chocolate/fruit thing, but I would not hesitate to say yes if I was offered some, and I’ll probably end up craving it once in a (long) while.

mj

I’m glad you didn’t hate it despite the chocolate-fruit combo!

Captain’s Backlog – Tea Date 043014 @ 1930

I had this tea after I got home from dinner with friends. It was probably a bit too late to have caffeinated tea, but I’m such a rebel. (Heavy sarcasm)

This is a lovely black tea with notes of raspberry and chocolate that don’t overshadow the black tea base. I highly enjoyed it. I wish it hadn’t been so late. I wanted to try a resteep, but I didn’t want to risk the late hour.

Another hit from Butiki!

I’ve tasted quite a few Butiki teas over the past week and this is now my fave! The artful blending of rasberry, chocolate and excellent black tea makes for a superb cup! What impresses me most is that no one flavor ever dominates, somehow Butiki brought together three very strong flavors and made them cooperate until the last sip, remarkable! It has a great deal of natural sweetness so go easy on the sugar, but you can look forward to multiple steeps of sheer goodness!

I had this for breakfast this morning along with some toast with nutella. That was a great decision on my part. The chocolate in this tea is really smooth. It’s more of a milk chocolate, but not too sweet like most milk chocolate. It lifts up the flavor of the raspberry and presents it to you. Thanks chocolate, I would like to taste that raspberry. Tart and sweet mmmm….I’m bumping the rating on this one a bit. I think I underrated this the first time.

Stacey sent me a free ounce of this because there was a little bit of a wait with my order, I guess when lemon French macaron and Hello Sweetie came out, they got bombarded with orders!

I purposely didn’t order this because I had received it in a swap and while it was ok, it wasn’t something I wanted to order. But swaps are hard I think. It seems that some teas lose their flavour in all the packaging and sending, so I think that’s what happened with this one. Today it tasted way different.

First off the tea is beautiful! The black tea and dark chocolate chips with the contrast of the bright red freeze dried raspberries just make you want to stare at it a while. I really like the flavour of this, A lot of chocolate teas haven’t been doing it for me lately because they are too strong or artificial tasting. This one is just right. The chocolate is quite subtle, and so is the raspberry. Sometimes you don’t want the flavour to smack you in the face. The base was a little astringent, but that could have been me over steeping. It didn’t bother me anyway.

Thanks Stacy for sending this to me, otherwise I don’t think I would have given it that second chance!

Let’s get one thing straight. This is not tea.

This is awesomeness in a cup. It transcends tea. You remember Diane Keaton saying that she didn’t just love him, she needed a new word, she LURVED him? Well, this needs a new word other than just tea.

This was my first experience with chocolate in tea, and I admit that I was a little leery of it. But oh my, does it ever work!

I admit, I get more chocolate and less raspberry out of the drink, but it’s still lovely. Even the last, cooled-down sips from my cup are just full of chocolatey YUM. I think it’s time for another cup.
