Sipdown! (1 | 275)

Mastress Alita’s Sipdown Challenge (October) – “A dessert tea”

Yay, October is here! Sadly it’s still in the 80’s here in Austin, and probably will be all month long. Wishing for sweater weather…

Anyway, the tea! This is another one from Gabby, so naturally it’s a desserty tea ha ha. It’s a puerh base, which isn’t my favorite. I don’t dislike puerh, but I tend to like it better in flavored blends when it’s mixed with black tea, otherwise it just tends to be a bit too earthy for me. It’s a nice smooth and easy-drinking puerh though, with no fishiness or anything like that. The toffee is buttery and rich, with a salted caramel sort of vibe to it. I could see this being a yummy latte!

This tea is pretty delicious. I don’t notice any puerh, thankfully. I taste a deliciously desserty flavor, maybe like marshmallows and graham crackers? It’s so good! I’m enjoying it sweetened with milk. It’s like s’mores without the chocolate. This is definitely my favorite tea I’ve tried from Brutalities so far. I’d consider ordering it again.

I think I might try the Brutaliteas advent this year… We’ll see! :P

I’ve only tried a few from their advent calendar so far, but I’m having a decently good time! I’m trying to finish all my advent calendars from last year before this advent season starts.

Ha ha good plan, I still need to finish all of my Fortnum mini tins from last year! >.<

Adventaggedon Day 1: Tea 2/7

I’m amused by the fact I had two teas in today’s advent line up that had this sort of butterscotch/toffee/salted caramel kind of vibe to them.

After a day of hot tea, and since this was my last advent tea, I decided to make this one iced with a splash of cream and drink it that way. I was on the fence about doing so, but when Marika said she preferred it as it had cooled in her mug that sealed the deal for me. It’s very pleasant! Simple and straight forward too, which I also love. I get the deep earthy pu’erh while also having a defined and distinct salted caramel/toffee note that’s not too sweet but abolutely not subtle either. It’s also nice and buttery, but that’s probably especially evident because I chose to add cream.

I definitely prefer this one to DT’s Butterscotch Chai for a couple reasons – the main one being that I think Butterscotch Chai is a little too fruity. I also don’t love the spices though (but obviously you need them in a chai) and the pu’erh used here is just such a good base!

Advent Day 1
So excited that it’s advent season! I took it easy this year- 3 full advents (2 tea and the Bonne Maman and 2 half (12 day) advents. I couldn’t resist getting the Brutaliteas advent again this year.
This blend is fine. Kind of a generic butterscotch flavor on a slightly earthy puerh base. I do love the name, though.

YES, I laughed at that ridiculous name. :D

2021 Advent Calendar

I’ve been wanting to try BrutaliTeas for a while and when I saw there was an advent calendar, I ordered as soon as I could. The calendar is a clear box with tiny samples inside. They list the teas on the back alphabetically and when you take out the sample your tea name is revealed.

Day One is a new blend The Toffman Prophecies. I’m not sure that I’ve had a Pu Erh Tea in the past but I will say I will definitely try again. This tea has a strong woody taste and is very smooth.

Good start to advent/December craziness.

I was gifted a whole bunch of ripe puerh if you are interested in samples.

Wow! That’s very generous of you Michelle! I would love that!
