513 Tasting Notes
I can not believe how long it has been since I have had time to sit down with a good cup of tea, much less write tea notes about it! I have been drinking this cold brewed while I am at work and I continue to love it as always. It is tart, like a pineapple tea should be in my world, but not so tart as to verge on being sour. I am not crazy about it hot anymore, but it really shines when it is cold brewed!
I brewed this up this morning with just a pinch of sugar. It was perfect, nutty, rich and just a pinch of maple. I could drink this all the time! I love that this is an oolong, but not as floral as I normally find oolongs can get. This is one of the first oolongs that I really think I could adore!
I saw a suggestion online (I can not for the life of me remember where) but to blend this with Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait to make a Strawberry Shortcake flavour. Colour me amazed, it worked beautifully! have played with the blend a few times, and I have settled on a straight 50/50 mix with a bit of sugar added. I get a nice juicy hit to berry along with the heavy base vanilla cake notes from the Red Velvet Cake. I am not the biggest fan of Red Velvet Cake by itself, but this is downright addictive. It makes me want to try Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait with some Coffee Cake and see where that gets me!
I bought this on a whim to give it a shot (fully prepared to be gifting it to friends). I can not believe how much I love it! I am not a chai or a ginger fan, but this seems to hit the perfect sweet spot of spicy yet still truly a fruit based tea.
The ginger is the strongest note, backed up by a tart fruity note (possibly the rhubarb?). The overall brew is actually fairly sweet and you can taste the licorice in the end note of the sip.
This is a complicated tea, it is definitely part spicy chai and part fruit infusion. I think it is one of those things you can either really get behind or you really dislike. Surprisingly, for me, I really, really like it. It is the first chai in a long time that I have really truly enjoyed!
I love this tea so much! I am so sorry it no longer seems to be one that David’s likes to carry because, hands down, it is my favourite cinnamon chocolate tea. I love the big ribbons of coconut, the sweetness of the tea, the smell, everything. It is such a great tea to sit and watch TV with on a Sunday afternoon!
Stacy tossed a sample of this in with my last Butiki order and am I ever glad she did! I think I hesitated initially on this tea because I was worried that there would be too much base tea for my liking. In retrospect, I should have known to trust Butiki blends. This tea was wonderful! Buttery smooth with strong notes of caramel and a touch of vanilla. I added just a touch of sugar to mine, and that seemed like the right way to go. I think this needs to go on my must order list for future orders!
Molar ged this little gem out of the travelling tea box. Tonight seemed like a great night to sit and contemplate a cup of it as my living room was full of boys discussing basketball. Brewed up, I smelled the ginger, which worried me. But the taste was heavier on the apple, which was perfect. The base was oneself but mild and u certainly got an apple cider vibe from the tea. I don’t know if I need to have a bunch of this, but it enjoyed the cup I had.
My Butiki order came today and this tea is back in my hands! I could not be more excited! It is just as good as the initial sample cup I first had. The base is buttery smooth and the tea is bursting with coconut and toffee notes. Finally, a hint of banana rounds out the flavour and adds a lovely underlying sweetness to the tea. I drank a big mug of it while the boy played video games and I honestly think I could follow the first mug right up with another one!
An oldie, but definitely a goodie! I brewed this up tonight and got the steeping parameters right. I find this tea can fall a little flat when I am not careful, but tonight I got the right brew time and enough sugar, but not too much sugar. I wound up with a nice big mug of orange flavoured tea spiked with cloves and cinnamon. This always reminds me of the holidays, and in the best way. Given that I am the type of person who turns on the holiday music at the first sign of stress, anything that reminds me of the holidays hits the spot for me!
