Today was a good day. I got all the cleaning on my list done (took me 8 hours!) and spent the last hour sipping this and knitting. I will be moving at the end of March and it’s horrifying how much stuff I have. You would not believe the things I unearthed from my bedroom closet! I sorted, boxed up for goodwill, and carried stuff out to the dumpster. So now I’m tired, physically weary rather than sleepy, and decided I deserve a treat tonight. Since I just ordered 50 grams of this, I feel like I can go ahead and drink up the last of my sample.

Yummy as always. I really enjoy Not So Vanilla, but I prefer this one. So smooth it;’ decadent.

After a week of running around like crazy, I finally took a couple of hours for myself. I finished a fantasy novel (2nd in the series, called Sworn in Steel) that I started over a week ago, and brewed a pot of this to drink while reading. The mellow, smooth flavor just added to my enjoyment of the evening. That’s what tea is all about in the evening!

And whoo-hoo!!! I just saw that Minted Monkey was back in stock so I ordered!

This was my mid morning cup. Delicious. Smooth. Just-right. I have acquired a nice variety of teas. Obviously, not nearly as many as othe Steepster-ites have, but very respectable. How in the world do people decide what to drink when??? Do things seem to disappear from view and then be re-discovered? It’s a dilemma, but a wonderful one to have.

My tea collection has spread out in a heap under my dining room table. I have a box of untrieds and a box of sipdowns (1-2 cups left), so unless I’m craving a specific tea, I just grab something from one of those piles. Because I have WAY. TOO. MUCH. tea, if I’m craving a particular category of tea, I can almost certainly find it in one of those two piles.

I forget I own about 1/3 of my teas until I stumble upon them while looking for something else. It’s always a fun surprise to find one you love.

I know that compared to many of you my tea cupboard is sparse. But it does fill most of three shelves. OK, most of two shelves, but the third shelf is my tea sacs and stuff. I’m telling myself NO MORE TEA. (except for when Minted Monkey from Tippy’s Tea becomes available again. I’m hoarding that sample like it’s gold.)

OMGsrsly

That’s what you say now, but then you swap with someone and it turns into 3 or 4 someones and all of a sudden you have 200+ teas you need to sip down!

LOL! I hope to be able to join a Traveling Tea Chest someday, but I’m not able to comment on the discussion boards. Stupid computers! But someday I hope to be able to share some of what I love (and don’t love) and be shared with. I love the idea of trying a tea out before I buy 50 grams of it. Someday!

I have had an utterly frustrating day! Chewed out by my boss (I made a mistake, and I deserved it, but didn’t do a lot for my mood, yeah?) Printer failed, so I actually went out and bought a new one. Unfortunately I forgot to buy a USB cable. Back to the store for that. Tried and TRIED to set it up for my wireless network, but …. No dice.
At least with the USB cable I can print from 1 computer. My entire evening was spent on that, and now I have nothing I was going to do done. I am so snarly that I can’t possibly sleep. Again. Someday, as God is my witness, I am going to go to bed and get more than 5 hours of sleep!!!

Rant over. The point of all that was to say that I deserve a treat. I’m drinking a cup of this. Now I am backing slowly away from the computer. If I make a sudden move I might kick the d@mn thing. Good night.

I didn’t know I like Oolongs this much! This tea is a wonderful afternoon break tea. It’s a bit sweet, and that naturally, as I drink my tea mostly straight, with a hint of cinnamon. (someone who can smell would probably get a lot of yummy flavors from this) This one has no bitterness, no sourness, no astringency. People must get sick of seeing me write that, but for me that is what makes or breaks a tea, and since I’ll be using my tea log to help me decide on what to re-order, that will be one of the things I note. I’m really glad that this is one of the samples I ordered from What-Cha.

Took this one with me to church tonight. I still enjoy the spice of it. Noticed the cinnamon especially tonight. Left a curious dry mouth feeling that I sometimes get with cinnamon.

And I really have to say I freaking LOVE my new travel mug. I bought it at a Castel Rouge (SCA) fundraiser up in Winnipeg last winter. I didn’t use it much until lately, when my old travel mug finally gave up the ghost. This one remains cold on the outside, even when boiling water is poured into it. I made my tea around 5:15 and took it with me to church. It sat with its lid off for about 2 hours. I put the lid back on to drive home. Tea was still HOT. No leaks, cold outside, hot inside, what’s not to love?

Nice! Are you involved with the SCA? I have several friends here in Winnipeg who are, and it makes me wonder if we have other connections. Which would not surprise me at all because that’s how Winnipeg works.

Very likely we do know some of the same people. I don’t know all their actual names, just their SCA names. David and Robyn Brough, Daria Rakowski, Jocelyn Wirth. There is Dave Bonwick and his partners Lauren and.. darn, I can’t think of her real name! Oh, well, small world, right?

This was my breakfast tea this mroning. I was going to try something new, but I just wasn’t in the mood. I wanted something black with caffeine. Again, I enjoyed it for a plain, good black tea in the morning. I love that this one came in its own tin.

My evening cup. I didn’t enjoy it as much as my last cup. Might have over steeped it bit, or maybe there weren’t enough tea leaves in it. It seems watery and washed out, yet a bit more astringent than I remember. I’m not giving up on this one, though, because I did enjoy it last time.

Made this for my afternoon cup. I was glad to see a sample of this was included in my last order from Whispering Pines. I am enjoying it along with a piece of gingerbread. (I made gingerbread yesterday and have been careful not to gobble the entire 8×8″ pan up at one sitting. My sister is coming for supper tonight and I want something for dessert. Aren’t you proud of me?) Anyway, This is a delicious tea. smooth and just perfect with a spicy treat. No bitterness, no sourness, no astringency. Just a nice tea that i’ll probably order again someday in the future.

I love cats. I love alone time. I love sitting indoors on a cold winter night with a book or my knitting while drinking tea. I don’t have a sense of smell, so many of the more subtle flavors of tea escape me. Two of the things I CAN taste are bitter and sour, so any tea that has even a slightly bitter taste is nasty for me. And what others might perceive as pleasant tartness may be horribly sour for me.

I’m also a writer. I love writing, and a mug of hot tea helps me get through the hours sitting in front of the computer. Although I’m a comparatively new tea drinker, I’m jumping in feet first. Feel free to recommend any teas you think I might enjoy.

100-91 – Wowza! I want to keep this tea in the cupboard all the time.
75-90 – Very nice. It would be good to have this tea on hand from time to time.
60-74 – OK. Wouldn’t keep it in the cupboard, but I would drink it again.
45-59 – If a friend served this I would drink it to be polite, but it’s not really my cuppa.
Lower than 45 – Blech. It was too sour or bitter for my taste. Would not drink it again.
