863 Tasting Notes
Mmm..I got a hankering for this tea out of the blue.
And it was as good as I remembered – I love the bergamot and vanilla combination. I noticed I was getting a little low, though – may have to restock soon.
This is just fine unsweetened, but I think it really would do well with just a tiny bit of milk and sugar…I shall tinker with it and see. :)
Preparation
Tried this iced today – I’m still pretty meh on it.
The strawberry flavor is very light and immediately overtaken by this…other flavor right before you swallow. I think it is the puerh.
I think I might not like puerh, if that is the case.
I’m pretty sure that I’m done with this tea – I just don’t have the patience to tweak it when I have another strawberry tea (52tea’s strawberry pie honeybush) that is so much more to my tastes.
Preparation
This was one of the free samples I won from Life In Teacup’s Valentine’s contest…
This does not seem like a white tea at all. It brewed up a brownish color – really like a black tea. It smelled sort of like a cross between a black tea and a puerh- I got a hint of earthiness in the nose after it brewed, and the black tea scent that I’m very familiar with as that is one of my favorite tea types.
Tastewise, I’m thinking it reminds me of a black tea as well, with a small honeyish note. I don’t get white at all, but to be fair, I’m so inexperienced with white teas I may just be missing it.
Overall, though, this is a very pleasant and relaxing evening tea.
Preparation
Alright, so I’m an idiot.
Bumping this rating up substantially because it’s a good chai when you prepare it in the traditional (stovetop) method: 1 tbsp. brown sugar, one tbsp. chai, one cup water, and one cup 2% milk.
I bet this would be pretty good iced, as well.
Still, when cupboard space allows, I think I’m going to branch out and try other chais – I just have this feeling that something better is out there waiting for me. :)
Preparation
2 slightly heaping tsp. in 500 ml. water.
It almost seems to be a combination of the sencha and genmaicha that I’ve tried from this same sampler. It’s grassy but not as much as the sencha, and it’s slightly roasted like the genmaicha. I think that this is the only one of the three that stands alone – the other two are better when paired with a meal.
I’m loving them all so far though; it’s going to be hard to pick which ones to restock!
Preparation
Um, wow. It does taste exactly like strawberry pie.
Not at the same time – you get the whiff of strawberry from the tea, and then the taste of the strawberry, and then in the swallow there’s this hint of graham cracker crust.
I don’t taste a lot of cinnamon in this – but that is totally okay because I like what I am tasting.
I am loving Honeybush lately – and especially loving that I can have some tea before bed that won’t disrupt my sleep!
Preparation
Smells like a rice cake in the cup. A vaguely burnt one, to me.
Tastes alot like adagio’s sencha that is also in this sampler. They’re both savory, and both good. This one has a rice-y flavor, followed by the green tea, and pairs extremely well with the japanese food (sushi, miso soup, and seaweed salad) that we ate for dinner.
I do prefer the sencha to this one; however, I will definitely enjoy finishing off this sample as well.
