First things first, this is a sipdown. It makes me feel good to write it down because it feels like I’ve accomplished something with my day. I got this either in the GCTTB or in a sample trade. I’ve tried it before, but I don’t know if I wrote a review or not.
Tried this one hot, not knowing what flavor it was or what base. I guessed peach on black base (the wrapper says “Noni & Svestka”), but it turns out noni is actually the “cheese fruit” (Morinda citrifolia), a fruit with a tropical but bitter flavor used raw, juiced, or cooked. Noni is also used for its leaves to make a herbal medicinal tea in Hawaiian culture. Svestka is apparently plum, but the package looks like a peach. I’m not sure what I’m drinking to be honest, but it tastes like peach/yellow fruit more than any plum I’ve had (yellow or purple fleshed).
It steeped bright pink in about 30 seconds so I took the teabag out early. It smells fruity, but it initially tastes sour (hibiscus? plum skins?). The after taste is what really makes it undrinkable, though, because it has the sickly sweetness like it is sweetened with stevia or chicory. Super gross. Under the horrible tart + sweet (which do not cancel each other out but somehow you taste both extremes separately), there is a peach flavor. I couldn’t finish the cup, I don’t like that level of sour or stevia sweetness.
