Something that I’ve noticed between these Adagio blends and the new Teavana blends that I’ve purchased is the leaf to miscellaneous additives ratio. My Adagio blends have so much more leaf and just feel like such a better deal in so many ways. I’m starting to wonder if Teavana tares out the bag when they fill them with tea because I feel that I’m getting way less product when I shop there. A 3 oz bag of Adagio teas will not even fit in my jars at home. 2 oz of Teavana ones are barely 1/5th a bottle. How is that even possible other than trying to say that all the fruit bits weigh more…
Back to the tea! This tea has been a great addition to my cupboard. I would advise drinking it hot because the chocolate does not mix as well in a cold cuppa. I think that the small amount of floral in this mixes into the mint really well and it is totally driven by the mint/chocolate theme. This tea reminds me of so many things, but Christmas treats from neighbors most prominently! As far as blend ratios go this one is spot on!

Yeah, heavy additives will potentially weigh down the bag a lot. With a light green tea like Dragonwell, 50g (~2oz) will be a substantial amount. A tea with heavy filler will basically just cover the bottom of the bag and a bit.

The bags are only 10g, max weight. Dunno what that is in ounces.

Yeah I’ve noticed that the tea that I seem to have the most of is the fluffiest; Swiss Vervaine Melange. It’s about 1/3rd of an ounce. I just have worked at a chocolate place before and we were really anal about subtracting the weight of bags from the price because people wanted to get their money’s worth.

It’s possible people at your local Teavana are being unscruplous, but I’ve personally found taring the bags/tins to have become second nature to the point that you do it even when you don’t need to (like if you’re just printing a label to put on something in the store).

Oh, also, if their scales are like ours, you should be able to see the tare from your side of the counter. On ours, the tare is on the farthest-left side of the screen visible from the front of the counter. If you see an 8 or a 10 there, that’s the tare of the bag.

Daniel Scott

…Oh, right. Ounces. Goofy American weights. :P I forgot. Maybe your scales are totally different.

Tamm

:D Well thanks for the tips! I’ll be careful to watch them next time I’m there. I have so much tea already…I can’t see myself going in anytime soon! drowns in tea
