Found this place in the Reading Market. Enjoyed a cup of Bourbon Vanilla, which is from Harney & Sons. The lady working there was nice & brewed my cuppa tea perfectly. She didn’t seem annoyed when we figured out the teas weren’t hers, but rather Harney’s/ No big deal. It was still good to get out & find a place to sit & enjoy a cup of tea after a rushed day.

Ended up at this location out of the three available in NYC. Plan to go to the other two at some point.

First off, I love Alice in Wonderland. It’s one of my favorite stories. And the theme in this location clearly screams Alice in Wonderland. And I love that!

Your table when you arrive has a teacup & saucer for you. We had three people today for brunch. We all had a different set. And it was perfect! I didn’t even complain about the chipped cup that I had. It just made me think of the Mad Hatter’s tea party.

So we went for brunch. I had an amazing order of crepes stuffed with fresh fruit. My friends had the french toast which was heavenly! They cube the french toast & pile it up in a bowl with fresh fruit. Under it all is this devine maple syrup that melts in your mouth.

We shared a pot of a flavored black tea. We went with the vanilla. It smelled wonderful. It tasted okay. I’ve had better. But I still enjoyed my cups….all four of them!

After chatting for a little while & digesting our food, we all decided we wanted to try a scone. I had the mxed berry one & it was yummy! Fresh fruit in a wonderfully fresh scone with clotted cream & raspberry jam for dipping made it a great end to the meal. My friend had their chocolate chip cookie which was good.

The place itself is small, but cute. Alice herself would love it!

So why only four stars?
Well, I didn’t appreciate that they don’t take reservations, but when you show up & want a table, they will take your name & phone number & call when a table is available. ? Seriously And to boot, when they called me I was told rather rudely that we had exactly 10 minutes to get back otherwise our table would be given to the next person on the list! I thought that was a little rude….even for NYC standards. But luckily I got over it. But it’s still costing them a star.

I’m planning to check out the other two locations. I really enjoyed the food.

I stumbled upon Adagio Teas when I started getting into loose leaf teas.

I find their tea selection to have a good variety. I find their flavors are usually well done. There are one or two that I might not like, but overall, there are a majort of flavors I enjoy immensely.

I cannot rave enough about their customer service! I have only had one issue with an order, out of about a dozen or so, & I was treated fairly. They always take care of me & I appreciate the attention.

I love their selection of teapots & cups. I bought a glass teapot from them that I love. It’s the most used teapot I have. And even though I broke the lid, I still highly recommend the teapot!

I find living in a one day delivery zone is also a major bonus.

Overall, I enjoy their teas & their service. I find Adagio Teas to be reasonably priced. I will definitely keep buying from them as long as they maintain their level of standards for teas & service!

After going to the store in the mall near me, I can honestly say, I won’t go back.

First off, their staff in the store (at the mall in Roosevelt Field, NY) are truly annoying. While I appreciate being approached to have my presence acknowledged, I don’t like being hounded by everyone in the store. Let me look. Give me room to breathe. And if you’re going to act like you know more about tea, then know more about tea. When I have to explain to you how to brew a cuppa tea, then you shouldn’t be working there.

Second, if you’re going to charge through the nose for tea, have high quality teas. Oh & have a strong assortment of teas to choose from.

Overall, I found this store overpriced on everything from the tea to the teawares. And I didn’t find the staff helpful, but more overbearing.

I love Adagio Teas!
I don’t have a store near me…sadly, but I am lucky enough to be in a one day shipping zone so I order from them on-line all the time.

First off, they offer the best customer service. I have never had a problem getting an answer or help when I ask for it. And they are always quick to help. Their staff really know how to take care of customers & that is something you don’t see very often these days.

Second, they offer an amazing assortment of delightful teas. I am a big fan of Forest Berries & Foxtrot. And I love Fruit Medley iced during the hot summer to cool off.

I would love to have a store near me. I would take advantage of their staff brewing cups for me to taste. Till they open one in NY, I’ll keep ordering on-line.

I wanted to rate this place better, but after my first visit, I doubt I’ll go back.

A friend & I went there & did the Tea for Two. First off, the entire staff had to come out & figure out what we were supposed to get. Duh! There was a sign on the register explaining the menu, but none of them knew about it. It’s bad when the customer has to point out your stupidity.

The meal was okay, but nothing special.
We had the avacado & hummus sandwich on black bread. It was okay, but again, nothing to really rave about.

There was a scone of the day which was a peanut butter banana flavor. When you eat out with a friend who is a pastry chef & he has to ask what the flavor is, you know it can’t be too good. And I know scones are usually a little dry, this one needed to be soaked in liquid to bite it! It wasn’t very good.

The desserts were brownies, a coffee cake with raspberry filling & fresh fruit. The fresh fruits were strawberries, blueberries & bananas….which were good. Definitely fresh. The brownie was a bit hard….like it wasn’t made fresh that morning. The coffee cake with the raspberry filling was pretty good.

As for the tea….we went with a coconut vanilla. It smelled delightful! It tasted okay. Not sure what brand or blend of tea they use, but I wouldn’t go back for another cup.

Sorry. I hate being harsh, but I thought this place was a disappointment from the start.
Doubt I’ll make it back for another shot.
