From day 2 of the holiday tea calendar.

I actually enjoyed this. Now, I sweetened it and added a bit of milk. So it was creamy and just yummy. It makes me wonder about licorice root though, since I don’t taste anything in it that I would associate with licorice. So maybe I don’t really know what that tastes like?

And, my kettle just died so I am going to be taking it back. Good thing I saved the receipt and everything.

Licorice root doesn’t really taste like licorice to me, it just adds a weird sweet aftertaste. So you may not notice that if you’ve sweetened it.

Oh no! What kettle do you have? I’m lost at this point without my kettle.

It’s an Aroma kettle. I live in a really small town and I purposefully ordered one online from Walmart since I knew if there were issues I could return it to the store. So when I got it I put the receipt in the box and put it away, just in case.

I don’t find licorice root tastes like licorice. But it has a really odd unpleasant aftertaste, like artificial sweetener.

may i ask which brand of tea calender are these? are those with loose tea or bagged ?

Cameron B. 11 years ago

Janie, this is the David’s Tea advent calender, and they’re all loose leaf samples. :)

I didn’t get this one in my calendar! ): the door named vanilla chai, but the little pod was coco chai Rooibos… I assumed they were in the wrong ones (when I got the calendar all of the doors were opened already – customs why you ruin my fun?) but today’s tea was the coco chai Rooibos, and that was the tea I got so now I have two of that one :/

Maybe if you email them they’ll send you extra :)

Aww, that’s lame. I can’t believe Customs opened every single door! Very thorough, unfortunately for you. :(

I’ll try it but I’m not too hopeful, seeing as they don’t even ship to the UK :/ if not, all is not lost. I really like the coco chai one (:

I know, right? That’s the best part! Some of them were wide open, and others they’d closed back up but not properly, and two of them they even ripped ):

Customs has never seen an advent calendar before?! They couldn’t just open the box and pull the plastic tray out to see all the contents? Or read what it was on the back of the box?

Nattie 11 years ago

Dustin you’d have thought so, but apparently not. They seem to think Marzipan is a drug smuggler…

Dustin 11 years ago

Well that I can understand, I mean… she does have that shifty look in her eyes. :P

Cameron B. 11 years ago

Oh yes, Marzipan is an absolute rascal.

Psst….hey little girl, you want some iced tea?

Bio

Mom of two practically grown girls, extremely happily married to a man who is amused by my obsession with tea, and company owner who works from home. Life is good.

Likes/dislikes: I love black teas, especially strong/malty ones. I am ok with flavored teas if the base is strong. I like some whites. I really don’t like any tea that tastes “green” – if I wanted to drink something that tastes like green beans, I would cook some green beans. I am not big on green teas or genmaichas. I am learning to like puerhs.

If we are trading, I have a STRONG aversion to coconut, banana and licorice. I love citrus, vanilla and spice. Not a fan of florals.
