125 Tasting Notes
Mmm… my second time drinking this and I’m loving it more than the first. There is woodiness/smokiness to it that just drives me crazy… I love it! For a second I swear I smelled bacon! What is this? I so intrigued by this tea… It’s floral, it’s fruity, it’s woody and smoky with delicious notes of honey coming through.
I steeped 7 grams in 6 ounces of 95C water for 5/10/10. I’m on the third steep right now and the astringency picked up a bit once the tea cooled but it’s a well balanced astringency, something that I enjoy.
This is some quality sheng. I really want to age this but I’m not sure how long this brick will last.

Well, this turned out to be a pyjama day. I love pyjama days! I read, I played, I ate delicious things and I’ve been sipping on this yummy tea through it all.
To me this is a very well balanced blend. It has a spicy and sweet aroma and a smooth taste with a bit of sweetness and just right amount of ginger. Yum!
Preparation
Sipdown! Thank you Verdant for this tasty sample!
Definitely a very yummy tea but then again…. It’s an oolong, right? :D I don’t think I’ve tried straight oolong I didn’t like yet. Oolong to me is always a win.
The steeped tea was sweet and floral with some mild vegetal notes. Steeps 2 and beyond brought some nuttiness and a slight, well balanced astringency developing towards the end of the sip. The floral edge was the strongest during the first steep and got progressively weaker as the steeps went on.
Oveall delicious but I would prefer stronger floral notes.
Preparation
I’m having a weird day… Can’t gather my thoughts. Has this ever happened to anyone?
This tea is delicious. Not a slight bit of bitterness to it the way I steeped so far. I used 6 grams for 6 ounces of water but I think next time I might use 7 grams.
Before first steep I rinsed it and waited 1 minute to wake the leaves up. Then I steeped it for 5/5/10/10 sec.
I’m on my fourth steep right now. The aroma is just lovely. It’s flowery and sweet and the taste doesn’t disappoint either. There is typical sheng tanginess to it with notes of apricot and honey. There is also a little woodiness to it and that caught me by a pleasant surprise. Yum. I’ll continue steeping and see what else I get.
Overall, this is a lovely sheng. I like everything about it so far. I’m so glad I got the whole brick. :D

This is a sad sipdown. I don’t know why DavidsTea doesn’t offer this wonderful oolong anymore but they don’t and I’m going to have to find another coconut oolong elsewhere. Oh well… I guess I should branch out and see what else is available. I think Zen Tea has coconut oolong.
For now this is delicious. Fragrant and full of coconut notes. Yum.
Sipdown!
There was just about 3 grams left in the sample packet and I wish I had more to try it gongfu style. I steeped what I had left for 1 minute in 6 ounces of water.
It was yummy and not quite how I remembered it from the last time I had it. It was roasted, with caramel, a hint of fruit and sweet notes of honey. Chocolate didn’t really come to mind this time.
I’m intrigued…. can’t wait to steep it again.
Shengs are so fascinating :) They’re my new obsession!
Yes, mine too!
