This is their now year old Troy NY location. I like it for the fact that it’s now a 10 minute drive and not the 45 minute drive to the first location. I LOVe the larger space and better layout for all of their tea ware and sniffing bar. This location also has room for private events which is also a nice touch. Plus they also now do tea tastings after three when you order the afternoon tea. Which is nice if you can’t always get into one of their monthly tastings.

They have new menu items and what seems to be seasonal offerings. Plus the teas are always changing and it would see from my emails with the owner that he is doing more of his own tea blending. For example right now he’s working on a Cinnamon Roll as well as possible changing it up to a CinnaBun tea. Sadly on the gluten free front they still only have ONE dessert option a boring flourless chocolate cake, but I’m trying to make easy to make options for GF desserts…I’m tired of the cake.

I’m going back tomorrow…so this may be updated.

Short and Stout Tea has been open as a brick and mortar shop since 2013. They’ve had their online store a year or two longer. I really enjoy every visit here. Lots of great tea to try. Plus they blend some of their own teas too: Russian Caravan and Cinnamon Roll to name two of them. The husband and wife team are great and they know their stuff!

Plus they sell yummy gluten free treats as well as vegan and regular treats too! I really enjoy stopping there for a tasty treat and tea whenever I have the chance. They also offer a rewards card that gets you a free bag of tea (3oz) once filled up.

Stopped here in June on a day trip into Vermont and picked up some awesome teas! They also sell their teas to go and by the oz if you want to take it home for later. They also serve up some yummy vegetarian and gluten-free options to satisfy your tummy.

This is a new shop in downtown Troy with a few teas on hand to enjoy in the shop or on the go. The menu has something for every tea taste. But like I said it’s new so the selection is limited. But it will be opening soon with tea tastings and more.

Finally stopped in here this afternoon and had their afternoon tea service. This gets you a sandwich, crepe, or other sammich of your choice. Then you pick a soup or salad, followed by your dessert. Finally you have the tough choice of picking one of their teas. I went with an iced honeybush green. Not bad. The service was quick and friendly too. They also have a “sniffing” bar where you can smell all of their teas on hand,

Sadly they do not blend their own teas. Bit of a downer as I figured they would. I did find out they will blend their teas for you upon request. So that’s pretty nifty. They also sell their teas by the sample pouch, tins, and bagged pound. I’ll be heading back there in the near future.

UPDATE: They also now offer a gluten free menu, only issue I have with this is there are usually no options for a soup and the chocolate cake with no flour is the only gf dessert. I also found out that they have started to blend some of their own teas! Plus they will be opening a Troy, NY location in the Spring!

At Flavour Cafe they serve Divini Teas. Which I must admit are pretty good and good for you. I suggest their Rooibos….really good. They always have at least one or two new teas a week along with the standard Earl Grey and English Breakfast (not fans of either). Friendly staff, great service – stop in!

Whenever I stop in there (which isn’t as often as I’d like) I always get a pot of their tea. I do think the water is really hot. So much so that my tea has been burned a time or two! But they do have some nice selections. Sad to say none of said selections really grabbed me. Worth checking out.

Bio

I am a tea lover, a wife, mom of one, and servant to three cats (all rescues). I love to read and write. I’m also a BIG fan of the following shows: BBC Sherlock, Doctor Who, Law and Order, Supernatural, Bones, and more – bless Netflix.

I started drinking and enjoying tea when I was 7 (sure it was bagged Lipton, but it got me started) with my grandmother. As I said it was Lipton with milk and sugar (and peanut butter and jelly on toast) and my love just grew from there. I was brought to loose leaf through a trip to Teavana. But my taste has expanded to many different types of tea since then. I review teas at the link provided, check it out!
