A brand new tea place up in Georgetown and not all the way down in Austin! I stopped in with my boyfriend today just to check it out. They have a “tea bar” with iced tea already brewed up that you can sample before you buy! They also have loose leaf tea for sale, and will brew you up a cup or pot. They have pastries and desserts from a local restaurant, Ruby’s. This place has a lot of potential and I plan on going back!

I went to this store with my roommate. It’s a small building, easy to miss, and not very exciting looking on the outside. But inside is very welcoming and cozy! They have all their teas out for you to look at, and samples for smelling. There are a number of little tables and chairs, if you want to order something and hang out. I believe it has free wifi as well!

We ordered a chocolate croissant, an almond croissant, a cup of coconut assam, and a cup of tropical green. All were very good! I bought a good bit of tea, and a matcha set before I left. There was one girl at the register and helping customers. She was extremely friendly and helpful, offering personal favorites and suggestions when asked.

All the tea that I’ve tried from them has tasted very good. They also had a good bit of teaware and gift sets for sell, all seemed very reasonably priced.

We ended up staying so long, they had to ask us to leave because they were closing! It was a very fun and enjoyable experience, and I definitely plan on returning. I believe they are planning on opening other stores soon, hopefully one a bit closer to us up here in Georgetown!

At least for this particular store, all the horrible Teavana rumors are true. As soon as I got anywhere near the door, a guy jumped on me. He offered me many samples, but they were all almost not enough to taste. He didn’t give me a moment to look around. He kept dragging me from thing to thing that I never showed any interested in. Also, I mentioned I was a college student on a budget. So he showed me the $32 travel mug. No thanks ಠ_ಠ

He was pushy but never out right rude. However, I made the mistake of mentioning oolong. He handed me off to his “tea consultant” before I got a chance to think. She was extremely rude. She pretty much told me all of my opinions on tea were wrong and insulted my intelligence. Of course, she was forcing the Monkey-Picked Oolong. Twenty something dollars for two ounces? I cannot afford that. I told her that I was looking for something at a lower price. She replied with “WHY!? Do you not have the money or do you just not want to buy it?” Um, none of your business, excuse you. If I’m not buying it, I’m not buying it. So she finally brings out some cheaper oolongs. I pick one and say that I want 2 ounces. She asks if 2.9 is good. No, no it’s not. I settle with 2.2. As she’s pouring it into the little paper bag, I’m looking over the tea behind her to see if anything catches my attention. I happen to be looking at the herbal blends when she notices and she tells me “You don’t want to buy those. They’re ONLY good for mixing with tea.” If my herbals were that crappy, I wouldn’t broadcast it. Then she says “HURRY UP. A line is forming behind you.” Even though she was the one ignoring what I told her and pulling out the expensive teas. I finally get her to give me some more black tea. This time she gives me three ounces. When I tell her no, two she says “This is what you said!”

OH! And she pushed the tins on me, hardcore. I told her I didn’t want them and she told me that the bags would only keep them good for four days and I was buying more than four days worth of tea. I told her I had my own and she was said"WELL! They better be tin." I finally pay, and suddenly as soon as I’ve slide my credit card, she did not want to talk to me at all. No part of this experience was good. I wish I could give this no stars. If you want a pleasant and affordable tea experience, do NOT go here.

I went to this place for lunch on Saturday. I had their Friar Tuck’s Blend, which was a variation on the good old Earl. To eat, I got a Chicken Waldorf sandwich with chips. The sandwich was really good and I enjoyed all of the food and drink. The place has a cozy atmosphere. It seems like a really good place for a lunch out with someone, or to relax by yourself and read a book or the newspaper. I was too full to order a dessert so I cannot speak on that. They also have coffee, but I don’t like coffee, so somebody else will need to give it a try. The tea has 2 cup, 4 cup and 6 cup sizes. The only reason I did not give this is a full five stars was that I almost had nowhere to sit, and nobody helped me with what to do. Also, my tea came out quickly and yet it took over 30 minutes to get my sandwich. At that point, my tea was cold and pretty much gone. They said it was because they had only one cook. It seemed like they were normally this busy at lunch, so obviously they need to hire more than one cook for lunch on noon.

I’ve lived in Hawaii, Mississippi, Colorado, Maryland, Texas, California, and Oklahoma. I’m just waiting to see where we end up next!

My preferences are towards black and oolong teas but I love trying new and/or weird teas! I’m finally learning to enjoy green tea.

We recently moved to about 6500 feet above sea level and I’m still trying to get the hang of the lower boiling point! Any tips would be appreciated :)

I really love swapping, so if anything in my cupboard catches your eye, please let me know!
