Appearance dry: rolled tea peas
Appearance blossomed: even after second brew of 3+ minutes some buds never fully opened
Fragrance: haunting, lovely, overwhelming

If I imagined decadent things to do with unlimited wealth, I’d bathe in this tea. The fragrance is pronounced and smooth and haunting. And that’s the problem also. It was too overwhelming as a drinking tea.

Have you ever finished a hard workout, gulping mouthfuls of air to recover when a perfumed person passes by? Ugh! Ack! You swallow an unwelcomed mouthful of overly scented body wash or shampoo. That was my fear while drinking this tea. Even though there was no perfume or alcohol flavor, still approached each sip with trepidation, expecting a mouthful of acrid, perfume-y backwash.

Despite that experience I’d recommend this tea and will try it again as an add-in for other teas. Maybe just 3-4 pearls to a pot of some other tea will give a light and less aggressive jasmine flavor. I used 2 grams of tea to about 12 oz of water and steeped same tea again in another 12 oz. Both times the jasmine scent was dominant.

This tea was delicious- very smooth and sweet, as well as floral and light. It seemed to have a stronger taste of jasmine than other jasmine dragon pearls I have tried, which I enjoyed very much. This is a good tea for any time of day, and I would highly recommend it.

This is a really nice jasmine green, with a strong, floral jasmine that’s natural rather than perfumey. The jasmine dominates the base, which serves as a fairly neutral background. I have a bunch of jasmine greens to work through, but when I run out I’d definitely consider buying some of this one.

additional notes: Regarding 2014 jasmine pearls: STILL VERY JASMINEY. That is all.

Leafhopper

This note gives me hope for some similarly old jasmine pearls I have somewhere in my cupboard.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tea and was delighted with how sweet it was. My mom and used to get dragon pearls in Hawaii pretty often, and this one comes really close to matching the memory. This tea was really refreshing, clean, and sweeter than I expected. Numi’s jasmine does have a little bit more body because of the buds, but honestly, it would depend on my mood and the price to choose between the two. I slightly prefer this one because of how clean and fresh it is, which is to be expected given the loose leaf quality. I just wish that this type of tea was more available in the areas that I live in, and that shipping wasn’t a burden. Moving on from that note, I would like to try the superfine version to see if its any better, though it might be a few steps higher. I definitely recommend this tea though to Jasmine lovers, experienced or not.

I want to start of by saying I am not a green tea drinker as I usually lean towards black or Pu-erh. I also stay away from floral teas as I am usually very sensitive to floral notes. Given all that, I still really wanted to try this tea after hearing/reading great reviews about the subtlety of jasmine notes. After opening the sample packet I saw nice tightly balled pearls with a sweet subtle jasmine aroma. I brewed a 2tsp per 16 oz with first steep of 2 min. Tea was a pale golden yellow/green color and you could smell the jasmine as I poured. Mouth feel was smooth and no trace of bitterness some green teas inherently have. Unlike many reviewers I found the Jasmine to be very strong and almost overwhelming, my boyfriend, who was also sampling felt it was very strong as well although not as overwhelming as I did, He described the jasmine notes as more of a strong forerunner in flavor rather than an subtle undertone . The second and third steep mellowed out the flavor a little more and it wasn’t overwhelming to me any longer however it was still very strong. Overall the tea was good, just maybe not the best for me-being so sensitive to florals. I would have to do a little more experimenting with exactly how much tea to use so that my first steep doesn’t end up so strong.

From the Cooking TTB.

Oh this is such a beautiful jasmine. Bright and floral, smooth, light body, with a very full mouth flavour, and slightly fruity notes. A hint of vegetal on the finish.

Definitely a keeper.

I ordered 4 bags of samplers from Teavivre, just to have a taste of what the company offers. The Premium Jasmine Dragon Pearls Green Tea is the very first tea that I opened and tried. LOVED IT!
When I opened the package, the jasmine smell was fresh, definitely not overpowering or artificial. There’s instruction for water temp and how long it should be steeped on the package, so you can’t get it wrong. It was so fun looking at the pearls unwrap and spread their little “arms” in the tea. I honestly didn’t expect the tea leaves to be full and long, but they are. I’d like to see this as a sign of good quality tea.
The first steep was amazingly not bitter at all, and the jasmine notes were the most prominent. I taste a little astringency in the 2nd steep and more so in the 3rd. Although I’d prefer a stronger jasmine essence from my tea, this tea is not bad at all. (Maybe I should try to use less water next time.)
In addition, each little tea package (7g) is perfect for one mug of tea. That’s a plus for me because I don’t want my tea to be oxidized quickly.
Get this tea if you like jasmine green teas. You will like it.

I don’t know if the sample of jasmine green tea in the green tea sampler bag is the premium or the superfine, but I will put the review here for now. It looks like most other Jasmine Dragon Pearls, and it smells quite lovely. This one is particularly nice, because it has a strong scent that isn’t overpowering.

The leaf size is smaller, and if the sample I have is the one leaf:one bud ratio, then it does take more tea to get the same flavor. It has a more predominant floral taste, and the tea itself is lighter in color, though if you let it sit, its color deepens to amber.

The first time I brewed this, I only used 15 pearls, because I assumed that it would brew the same way. I set the temperature to 185 as recommended on the package, then steeped it for a little over two minutes. The result was rather flavorless, and because I kept the tea in the bag, the pearls didn’t really open. That was my mistake. I eventually emptied the tea into the pot and they unfurled, but it didn’t make a strong enough tea until I let it sit for a while. So, to brew this tea, you will need to use more of the pearls. That being said, this tea makes other lower quality dragon pearls look bitter, even after a rather long steeping period.

I wouldn’t recommend this tea for someone just trying Jasmine Dragon Pearls, simply because for the price I think it would take longer to find the best method for brewing it. That being said, I would definitely use this tea for entertaining guests. I like that it has a much more prominent jasmine flavor. Even the tea itself has a different profile, though I doubt I could describe it without drinking more of it.
