49 Tasting Notes

Very plain, unassuming. Reminds me of a ceylon black, although I haven’t had one in a while. Something slight in the aftertaste reminded me of yunnan black teas. Anyway, tastes like a black tea.

Definitely has a distinctive taste. Too complex for my blown-out American taste buds. Ate too many Doritos in my life to be able to taste more than one flavor at one time. Had a sample of this tea with my last Verdant order. Steeped it for about five seconds. Turned the water a bit green. Tasted ‘refreshing’ almost like a juice. Every other pu’er I’ve tasted suggested organic decay. This one was totally clean. There are probably pu’er subtypes that I should read up on. Anyway, it’s pretty good.

I liked this one less than the Yunnan Noir because I found it to be more bitter, but still enjoyable.

Really pleased with this one. Tasted fresh and vegetal in a good way.

First brew I blew because I oversteeped it. Was nearly impossible to drink. Too strong, too ‘dark’ tasting. Tried it again this morning for just two seconds steeped (had heated the cup up and put a little hot water on the leaves) and it tasted much better. Could make out all the flavors, but they’re hard to describe; something in the neighborhood of coffee/caramel/chocolate, but none of those in particular.

This is one of my favorite tea’s…and I think it’s something like potato fries and chocolate shake. I’ve had it gongfu and by the pot with cream then added sugar…both ways equally outstanding.

Wow, sounds great! Just got a gong fu set at the office, so I’ll have plenty of opportunities to try it.

It’s hard to describe the flavor, but I can talk about it in relative terms. This green tea would not be unwelcome to someone who previously enjoyed only black tea. Doesn’t taste vegetal or nutty to me. The dry leaf pearls smell like cocoa, but this is absent from the wet leaves and liquor. It’s tasty, although I cannot articulate its flavor, and there is nothing objectionable about its flavor.
